NFL Predictions: Titans Vs. Giants Odds and Betting Picks
by Robert Ferringo - 9/23/2010
Turnovers and toughness: they are two essential elements of this beautiful and barbaric game of football. And while these two core components are difficult to handicap or predict they will be essential to determining which team, the Titans or the Giants, can avoid the agitation of a two-game losing streak at the end of business on Sunday.
NFL Sunday Predictions: Falcons Vs. Saints Odds and Betting Picks
by Robert Ferringo - 9/22/2010
The last four games that the New Orleans Saints have played have been, in order, the NFC Championship Game, the Super Bowl, the Thursday night NFL Kickoff game and then a “Monday Night Football” game. So the last four times they’ve stepped on the field they have been the center of focus for the entire football-crazed universe.
College Football Power Rankings - The Ferringo 15
by Robert Ferringo - 9/22/2010
Last week was our first non-profitable week of the season with the Ferringo 15. Our teams went just 6-9 ATS (5-7 if you discount the “off-the-board” numbers). Remember: I’m not listing the 15 teams that I think will cover in a given week. This is just a list of 15 teams that I think present the best blend of immediate and long-term earning potential against the books, while also giving credit to teams for recent, past performances. For the year the F-15 teams are just 13-12 the week that they have been listed in these college football power rankings.
NASCAR Predictions: Sylvania 300 Odds and Betting Picks
by Christopher G. Shepard - 9/18/2010
Jimmie Johnson will attempt a season sweep at New Hampshire Motor Speedway this Sunday afternoon at 1:15 as the Chase for the Sprint Cup revs up for the first of the 10-race NASCAR playoff. Meanwhile, with a win at Loudon, Denny Hamlin has a chance put the other Chasers on notice after last weekend's win at the Air Guard 400.
NFL Sunday Predictions Week 2: Ravens Vs. Bengals Odds and Free Picks
by Robert Ferringo - 9/15/2010
Cincinnati hosts divisional rival Baltimore at 1 p.m. this Sunday in the first AFC North divisional game of the year. The Bengals are home dogs to one of the most ferocious beasts in the AFC and are looking to avoid falling into an 0-2 hole to start what was supposed to be a promising season.
College Football Power Rankings - The Ferringo 15
by Robert Ferringo - 9/15/2010
So far in 2010 we’ve had one weekend of the F-15 and one weekend of profit for the F-15. Our clubs went 7-5 against the spread last week, discounting the game between Rice and North Texas. Among our seven covers were big wins in marquee games by Ohio State, South Carolina and Michigan. We’ll have to see if we can make it two-for-two with profit this week.
NASCAR Predictions: Air Guard 400 Odds and Betting Picks
by Christopher G. Shepard - 9/11/2010
The NASCAR Sprint Cup Series ends its regular season under the lights at Richmond International Raceway for the Air Guard 400 this Saturday night at 8 p.m. EST; and you can bet drivers are going to go all-out for the last 10 bonus points while Clint Bowyer needs to lock-down the 12th and final spot in the Chase for the Sprint Cup at one of the most exciting tracks in NASCAR.
NFL Predictions - Week 1 Odds and Picks: Packers Vs. Eagles
by Robert Ferringo - 9/8/2010
The good news for the Kevin Kolb Era is that it would be difficult to get off to worse start than the Donovan McNabb Era did. This will be the first time in 10 years that the Philadelphia Eagles will enter a home opener without McNabb’s hands in another Eagle’s groin. Philadelphia opens the season at home against Green Bay at 4 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 12. Newbie starter Kevin Kolb will lead the Eagles on Sunday, and after a sloppy preseason he has as much pressure on him as any quarterback in the NFL.
NASCAR Predictions: Emory Healthcare 500 Betting Odds and Picks
by Christopher G. Shepard - 9/4/2010
Kyle Busch moved up five spots to third place in the Sprint Cup standings thanks to his win at Bristol two weeks ago. And after a one-week hiatus NASCAR returns to Atlanta Motor Speedway for the Emory Healthcare 500 on Sunday, Sept. 5 at 7:45 p.m. for the penultimate race before the points are reset and the 12-driver field for the Chase for the Sprint Cup is set.
2010 College Football Predictions: Big Ten Conference Odds and Betting Picks
by Robert Ferringo - 9/1/2010
When Dick Stanzi is what qualifies as an “experienced veteran quarterback” in your league, you know that your league is in trouble. But that’s how things are rolling this year in the Big Ten, as quarterback turnover is the one thing that could undercut what could be a stellar season for the nation’s most overrated conference. Only six of 11 starting quarterbacks from 2009 are back with their respective teams this year, and just two – Iowa’s Stanzi and Minnesota’s Adam Weber – are three-year starters.
NFL Predictions: AFC South Odds and Preview with Football Betting Picks
by Robert Ferringo - 8/28/2010
Peyton Manning continues to lead the division-favorite Colts, who have been instilled at -200 to win the AFC South. However, some books are even offering odds to win the AFC South that include a wager on the Colts at -175 or a wager on any other team at +145. Considering that Indianapolis has claimed the division crown in six of the last seven years it would be awful hard, even at plus-money, to take a stab at the other three AFC South competitors stepping up and knocking off the champs.
NFL Predictions: AFC East Odds and Preview with Football Betting Picks
by Robert Ferringo - 8/28/2010
A quick look at the odds to win the 2010 AFC East show that New England is still the head of the class, with posted odds of even-money to take the divisional crown. Now, on one hand that may be less of a projection and more of just an assumption by the books that they will get the most action from the public on Tom Brady and the Patriots almost out of habit. But on the other hand, the Pats did win the East five straight years from 2003 to 2007, and they finished in the top spot last year as well making it six in seven seasons.
NFL Predictions: NFC South Odds and Preview with Football Betting Picks
by Robert Ferringo - 8/27/2010
The NFC South has never had a back-to-back division title winner. However, that hasn’t stopped the books from posting New Orleans as a solid -180 favorite to win the crown again this season. Atlanta is an appealing and trendy underdog to knock off the Saints, and they have been posted at +200. The odds to win the NFC South for Tampa Bay and Carolina are longshots, at +1500 and +600, respectively.
NFL Predictions: AFC West Odds and Preview with Football Betting Picks
by Robert Ferringo - 8/25/2010
Over the last half-decade the AFC West has been a bit like the Island of Dr. Moreau, with San Diego playing the role of the good doctor while Oakland, Kansas City and Denver are a bit like the Beast Folk: they resemble football teams but are too grotesque to actually be considered authentic.
NFL Predictions: AFC North Odds and Preview with Football Betting Picks
by Robert Ferringo - 8/25/2010
All hail the last old school division in football. While pass-wacky spread offenses are all of the rage on the gridiron, from the Pop Warner fields to the Super Bowl champions, the AFC North is taking the contrarian’s position. The four teams in the AFC North are all rough, rugged, punch-you-in-the-face-and-then-kick-your-teeth-in-while-you-are-on-the-ground teams that play the type of physical, violent brand of football that would make Jim Brown and the Steel Curtain smile.
FIBA Predictions: International Basketball Betting Odds and Picks
by Nicholas Tolomeo - 8/25/2010
The FIBA World Championships begin this week. While nowhere near as big in popularity and attention as soccer’s World Cup, the World Championships are also every four years and share similar qualification and scheduling formats to determine a winner.
Advice for Betting NFL Totals
by Robert Ferringo - 8/24/2010
When it comes to betting on the National Football League I’m sure that most of you have tried to stare down the oddsmakers, going toe-to-toe with those bloodthirsty, integer-wielding wraiths, in an attempt to beat the books and turn a profit. I’ll bet that you’ve tried it all: favorites, underdogs, teasers, parlays, crazy trends and wacky systems, or even coin-flipping to help you get ahead. I’ll also bet that none of it worked on any consistent basis.
NASCAR Predictions: Carfax 400 Betting Odds and Picks
by Christopher G. Shepard - 8/14/2010
Juan Pablo Montoya broke his 113-race winless streak last week at Watkins Glen and will try to win on an oval and put together a two-race win streak as NASCAR heads to the Irish Hills and Michigan International Speedway for the Carfax 400 on Sunday, August 15 at 1:15 p.m.
2010 College Football Predictions: Pac-10 Conference Odds and Betting Picks
by Robert Ferringo - 8/13/2010
Like Medusa, the Pac-10 is somewhat powerless once the head has been chopped off. With USC embroiled in scandal, suspension, coaching change, and attrition, there is a power vacuum in West Coast football. The mighty Trojans have fallen, and this year will be a free-for-all to claim the vacated throne.
MMA Betting Opinion: Anderson Silva and Future in UFC
by T.O. Whenham - 8/13/2010
Anderson Silva makes my head hurt. He’s probably the most talented MMA fighter alive, but his effort doesn’t always match up to that talent. He does enough to win, but it has been a long time since he has done what we all know he is capable of. He’s very frustrating to watch.
