The Knicks clawed their way back to a .500 record with their 116-107 victory over the Miami Heat on Wednesday night. New York managed to get all six of their top rotation players into double digit points, but they still relied heavily on the starting unit for a majority of their points. Josh Hart was questionable with an injury heading into the matchup, but he persevered en route to leading both teams with 14 rebounds.

On Monday night, the Knicks fell below the .500 mark after a 110-104 home defeat against the Cleveland Cavaliers. The Knicks took a lead into the fourth quarter but were unable to hold on after allowing 36 points in the final frame. The Knicks had six players score 14+ points, but their lack of scoring depth off the bench was exposed. Head coach Tom Thibodeau routinely gives his starters heavy minutes. And with a top-heavy Knicks lineup, this year will be no exception.

The NBA, like all major sports leagues, has the thrilling opportunity to draft young talent from colleges and scout international players from all corners of the globe. This is how teams aim to achieve their goals and inch closer to that coveted championship. But let’s be real—not every player who gets their shot in the big leagues makes the most of it. While we won’t always favor the Knicks, we will be able to identify favorable matchups and carefully select when to pull the trigger with New York.

Their 21.5 win total is the second lowest in the league, but there are still plenty of reasons for optimism in Washington. The expectations couldn’t be lower for the Wizards. However, can Washington pull off a few upsets to generate momentum heading into next season?
