I'm actually shocked that Bartelemy isn't a -300 favorite Friday night. Rances 'Kid Blast' Barthelemy has faced tougher opponents, and I beleive he has more to his punches then Shafikov. Was impressed with how 'Kid Blast' fought his last fight against Antonio DeMarco, and if he controls this fight like that one then I see Shafikov having a long night. Denis Shafikov has no power in both hands, and I don't see him punishing Barthelemy at all. If you are looking for a KO with Shafikov you will be waiting for a long time because in 36 fights he has 0 KO's. Friday night look for 'Kid Blast' to control the fight, and his jab will be the big reason why he controls the fight. This fight will go the distance and 'Kid Blast' wins on points. Take Mississippi State (-8) over Tulane (4 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 19)
I nailed my 7-Unit College Basketball Play last Saturday, and it was so much fun that I plan to do it again this Saturday with another 7-Unit selection. Tulane plays North Carolina on Wednesday, and after getting blown out there I don't imagine their confidence is going to be too terribly high. A trip to Starkville has to be the furthest thing from their mind. The Bulldogs have been pretty solid at home, with their three wins coming by 18, 25 and 13 points, all against teams in the same range as Tulane. Mississippi State is a veteran team, whereas Tulane has three seniors and then a rash of inexperience. I think the host Bulldogs are going to be able to wear down a mentally-exhausted Tulane squad and they should be able to pick up another double-digit home win against a bottom tier team. This pick falls into one of my top NFL systems, and the Jets are the better overall team here at this point in the season. The Jets are finally getting healthy at the right time of the season, while Dallas is anything but healthy right now. The Cowboys are just 2-12 ATS in their last 14 games playing on turf and they are just 1-6 ATS in their last 7 home games overall. The Jets have been a covering machine in the month of December, going 9-1-1 ATS in their last 11 games and they are 5-1-1 ATS in their last 7 games after allowing less than 90 yards rushing in their previous game. This Jets defense is getting to be great at the right time of the season and they will dominate the turnover battle Sunday. The Jets have the #1 run defense in the NFL and that will be a big problem for Dallas if they can't get their run game going. We have two teams heading in opposite directions here Sunday and I look for the Jets to pick up win #4 in a row with by dominating the Cowboys Sunday. Green Bay is playing better more efficient football as of late. The Bears have posted a 5-2 record to the under in their last seven road games and they have gone an excellent 5-1 to the under in their last six games following a straight up loss. The Vikings have been an under team as well in the spot they are in here on Sunday as they have gone 8-1 to the under in their last nine games where they faced a NFC North Division rival and they have gone a perfect 6-0 to the under in their last six games following a straight up loss. Note, Minnesota looked good against Arizona, losing 23-20, but a team typically has a let down when they play a close contest with an elite team the game before. We like Chicago stepping up here as a quality underdog and we like them losing by a field goal here. Note, Chicago is 5-0 ATS in their last 5 road games and the Bears are 7-3 ATS in their last 10 games.

Take #233 Tulsa (+13.5) over Virginia Tech (5:45 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 26)
The Frank Beamer Era comes to an end on Saturday night in Shreveport, LA. Most of the public expects him to go out a winner, and thus this spread is much higher than what it should be. Virginia Tech is not a good team and struggled to become bowl eligible, going 6-6 with losses to East Carolina, Miami, and Duke. Tulsa is thrilled to death to be 6-6 and bowl eligible. New Coach Phillip Montgomery brought a spark to this team and they faced a difficult schedule as most of the top teams came from the West in the AAC. They have a veteran quarterback and should be able to contain a suspect Va. Tech offense. The Hokies choose not to hire from within and thus many of the assistants will be looking for work elsewhere as Justin Fuente comes in from Memphis. This will be a closer game than what the experts believe and we will gladly grab this many points.
