Take #179 Nebraska (+6) over Northwestern (Noon, Saturday, Oct. 13)

I'm taking the points with Nebraska on Saturday. We gave out the Huskers last Sunday night for this past weekend's game against Wisconsin. As we mentioned in our analysis...the line (+21 at the time) had been set too high. The line dropped to as low as +17 later in the week and Nebraska covered the early number in a 41-24 loss in Madison. As we mentioned in the video, Nebraska out-gained 3 of their first 4 opponents by a decent margin. They fell just 15 yards short of Wisconsin's total, gaining 518 yards of offense. The offense is focused and fine with Adrian Martinez healthy at QB. The defense has some work but will face a less powerful attack this week. It's also a great spot to play against Northwestern. The Wildcats are off a 29-19 win at Michigan State as a 10.5-point dog, just one week after losing late to Michigan. Nebraska-Northwestern has been a tightly-played series as it is, and the road team has covered 5 straight meetings. We expect a 6th. We're recommending a play on Nebraska plus the points on Saturday. Take 'Over' 63 Army vs. Oklahoma (7 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 13)

The Boise St Broncos will look to bounce back from their loss last week to San Diego St when they hit the road to take on the Nevada Wolf Pack at Mackay Stadium in Reno, NV, on Saturday night. The Broncos have posted a 4-1 ATS record in their last five games following an ATS loss, and they have gone an excellent 8-2 ATS in their last 10 road games. They have also been able to bounce back from a poor offensive showing, covering the number in 10 of their last 13 games following a game where they scored 20 points or less. The Wolfpack, on the other hand, has struggled a bit in the spot they are in here on Saturday as they have gone 0-4 ATS in their last four games versus a team with a winning record and they are 1-5 ATS in their last six games overall. Throw in the fact that Boise is 5-2 ATS in their last seven road games against Nevada and that the road team is 7-3 ATS in the last 10 head-to-head meetings between the two schools overall, and we're going to lay the big number here with the Broncos to get the road win and cover in Reno on Saturday night. Take #263 Tampa Bay (+3.5) over Atlanta (1 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 14)

It was yet another easy free play winner last week as Pittsburgh pasted Atlanta 41-17. That is now six straight newsletter free play winners after coming through with the Steelers (-3) last week, and now we will go for No. 7 in a row. This play is a little counterintuitive because I know that everyone expects Atlanta to bounce back from last week's loss and because the Falcons have been very good at home over the last several years. However, I think this Atlanta team is off the rails. Their defense is easily the worst in football right now. They absolutely cannot stop anyone at the moment, and they really only have about four guys that are legitimate NFL-caliber starters on that side of the ball. They can't stop the run. They can't stop the pass. They can't stop anyone. Tampa Bay has spent the last two weeks in desperation mode after getting thrashed by the Bears. Coach Dirk Koetter is coaching for his job. Defensive coordinator Mike Smith is coaching for his job. Jameis Winston is playing for his job. This whole team is on the brink after an excellent 2-0 start followed by a swift 0-2 fall. So I expect a little intensity from this group. They've lost to the Falcons three straight times, and after already winning at New Orleans I think the Bucs can get another road win here. There is a reverse line movement in this game as nearly 80 percent of the action in this game is coming in on the Falcons but the line has dropped from 3.5 to 3.0. I absolutely hate to trust Winston. He is a proven loser. But I just don't see how the Falcons are going to be able to stop the Bucs offense at all. And I don't think that Atlanta, which has had its own offensive issues, will be able to keep up in a shootout. I have this one at 30-28 for the road team. Free NHL Hockey Prediction From Doc's Sports :

Take Pittsburgh over Vegas (7 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 11)

Vegas has one of the hardest schedules to start the season. They opened up their home schedule on day one vs. Philadelphia then travelled to Minnesota, Buffalo, Washington and now find themselves in Pittsburgh, playing the Penguins on the second game of a back-to-back. The Penguins have been okay so far this season, but after their last loss against Montreal - a team that's been pegged as one of the worst in the league - we expect Pittsburgh to be pissed off and hungry to get back in the win column. The Penguins still feature the likes of Sidney Crosby and Phil Kessel, and as we saw in their opening game against Washington - a 7-6 win - they can still put the puck in the net. Vegas should be exhausted once they reach this point of their road trip, so the Pens should be able to use their speed to exploit the tired legs of the Golden Knights.
