Hunter Greene just faced the New York Yankees on a national TV broadcast last weekend, and completed seven innings for the first time this season and he matched his season high with 10 strikeouts. He actually pitched pretty well, and there is a ton of hype around the youngster this season, but the numbers don't lie. Greene has a 4.68 ERA and 1.50 WHIP, which is just not great. He faces a Chicago Cubs offense that can put up runs in a hurry. The Cubs are 7th in all of MLB hitting ..262, and 10th in home runs (the Reds are 28th). We think Chicago can get to Greene as they are familiar with him. And remember, the Rockies and White Sox both managed 5+ runs off Hunter, and those are two bottom tier offenses. Max Scherzer is a creature of habit, and him going over 10 days in between starts, two different times in the season, is going to throw him out of his routine from taking the ball every 5th day.  Scherzer allowed 6 earned runs against Detroit on May 3rd, but in his last two starts he has allowed just 1 earned run across 11 innings. I think he can limit the Rockies, who are in last place in the National League West. Connor Seabold is scheduled to start for Colorado, and he holds an ERA of 5.97 over 11 appearances (4 starts) with opponent's batting a collective .315 off him. I think Seabold is catching the Mets at the wrong time, because after struggling for the first month and a half, New York is finally finding there footing and playing some good baseball. With Scherzer on the mound, and the offense starting to click, I think the Mets win this game convincingly. Take ‘Under’ 8.5 Pittsburgh at Seattle (9:40 p.m., Friday, May 26)

That’s now seven of eight wins in this space, and I am 52-29 (64%) with my free newsletter plays over the last 82 weeks. I see starters with high-end potential. George Kirby is building on his excellent rookie season with an outstanding sophomore campaign. He’s throwing hard, he’s not walking guys, and he has allowed three runs or fewer in nine straight starts. Roansy Contreras isn’t nearly as consistent. But he is starting to show some better control on his pitches, and he is sporting a 3.38 ERA on the road this season. I don’t think he will be great, but if he can go five or six innings and allow just three or four runs that should be good enough. The ‘under’ is 5-1 in Seattle’s last six home games and this setup should favor the pitchers. Take the ‘under’.
