Soccer Prediction From Doc's Sports:

Take Toronto (+0.5, -145) over San Jose (1 p.m., Saturday, May 2)

The San Jose Earthquake are surprisingly on top of the Western Conference after 10 matches, three points clear of Vancouver (with one more match played) and seven clear of LAFC. Well, it wasn’t too surprising to us as we have been backing this side from the start. They are a legit championship contender this season. However, we think this will be a tough matchup for them Saturday. The Earthquake had their hands full at St. Louis last weekend, and Toronto is a much better side than St. Louis. This matchup is the Saturday matinee, so we think the early start (10 AM California time) will likely throw San Jose off. It’s tough for any side in MLS to take three points on the road, and getting the half goal is all we need is a draw here. Toronto has taken at least a point in four of the last five meetings at home, with three outright wins. Toronto has only three points in their last four matches, but they took a point each against Philly, Austin and Cincinnati, three very solid sides, all here in Toronto. It's Kentucky Derby week and Friday kicks off with the Kentucky Oaks but Saturday races has soveme great betting value. Saturday's Churchill Derby card has nine stakes' races and don't sleep on the other stakes races. The Kentucky Derby is Race 12 on Saturday but I really love Race 4 the Derby City Distaff. The favorite in Race 4 is "Ways and Means" (8-5 opening favorite) but give me the 5-year-old mare Splendora who is the #5 horse. Splendora opened up as +200 and she is a perfect 2-0 in 2026 and in her 12 career starts she has 7 wins and 4 losses. And if you are doing the math she has either won or came in second in 11 of her 12 career starts. Splendora keeps cashing and this 5-year-old puts some extra cashing my wallet on Derby on Saturday. NBA Prediction From Robert Ferringo:

Take ‘Under’ 8.5 N.Y. Mets at L.A. Angels (9:30 p.m., Saturday, May 2)

Nolan McLean really has been outstanding for the Mets this season. He throws gas and the 24-year-old has only allowed 21 earned runs across 14 career starts and 83.3 innings of work. McLean has surrendered two runs or fewer in five of his six starts and has 45 strikeouts to just 10 walks this season. He’s been dominating and should overwhelm this Angels lineup. Reid Detmers has been a little better than his primary numbers suggest. He’s allowed 14 runs over his last four starts. But he has a 4-to-1 strikeout-to-walk on the season and he just seems to get victimized by that One Big Inning. The Mets only hit .211 as a team against left-handed pitching and I think Detmers will have six strong innings here. I see a low-scoring game dominated by the two starters. Take Chicago Cubs over Arizona (2:20 p.m., Sunday, May 3)

The Chicago Cubs have a great opportunity to cap off their homestand on a high note this Sunday, May 3rd, as they host the Arizona Diamondbacks. Coming off a long, draining West Coast swing against the Padres, the Cubs will be more than ready to get back to the comfort of home. Despite the travel, their offense has been finding a rhythm lately, putting up consistent numbers and showing signs that they’re really starting to click at the plate. When they get back to the friendly confines of Wrigley Field, I expect that offensive momentum to carry over. On the flip side, the Diamondbacks are in a brutal spot. They’ve been bouncing around on a road trip that took them from Milwaukee to Chicago, and with a series against the Pirates waiting for them back home on Tuesday, this Sunday afternoon game feels like a classic "look-ahead" trap. Road fatigue is very real in late-season series, and facing a motivated Cubs team that is hungry to defend their home turf is a tough task for a squad that’s likely already thinking about the flight home. With the Cubs' bats heating up and the Diamondbacks clearly caught in a difficult travel schedule, all the signs point to a strong performance from Chicago. MLB Prediction From Griffin Murphy:

Take N.Y. Mets (-1.5) over Colorado (8:40 p.m., Tuesday, May 5)

New York was swept by Colorado earlier on in the season, and this series is leaking revenge across the table. New York has not performed well thus far with a 9-19 record and 4th in the NL East. This is a team that has all the star power to be great. They have a very strong offensive lineup, and their pitching rotation is stout. The Mets just have not come fully together in the 2026 season. We believe after getting swept against Colorado, this is a perfect spot for them to really unleash their capabilities this season and get going. We love the Mets here and should get a really soft line due to how weak this team has been performing this season. Let’s take the Mets here on the run line, as we believe they get it back in the 2nd go with this brutal Rockies team.
