We are officially at the halfway mark of the season, and this is about where we thought we would be. The only difference is that both teams are better than their respective records. Both offenses have obliterated opposing defenses from the start of the season. It’s the Ravens, though, that have more balance on that side of the ball.

New York, New York, big city of teams, that take too much scrutiny. I think the only thing keeping Daniel Jones under center is the 2-6 start to the season from the New York Jets. The reactions from the Manning brothers to his performance, particularly at the end of the game, tells you everything you need to know about the Duke grad. The shock and awe on their faces opposed to Jones' lost/blank expression was priceless.

This Thursday night from the City of Angels, the Rams have the privilege of hosting one of the league’s top teams, the Minnesota Vikings, who are coming off their first loss straight up and against the spread all season when they fell to their rival, the Detroit Lions. This contest was a classic that came down to a missed extra point for Minnesota and a game winning field goal for the Lions.

Thursday Night Football Picks: Denver Broncos at New Orleans Saints

It’ll be an emotional night of football this Thursday for Denver Broncos’ head coach Sean Payton. This matchup with the Saints will be the first time he’s returned to New Orleans to play his former team in the Superdome. Payton has since made a solid account for himself, taking over the headset in Denver, where the Broncos hadn't sniffed the playoffs since their Super Bowl win in early 2016. After three consecutive last-place finishes, ownership made the move for the Super Bowl-winning coach.

Both the San Francisco 49ers and their NFC West rival, the Seattle Seahawks, will need to lick their wounds quickly as they are on the Week 6 slate for Thursday Night Football. They each lost at home in games the Niners were favored by a touchdown and Seattle by the same. It would've been nice to get a half of a point on either side of the key number, but neither team won.

Green 18, green 18…hut! The NFL is a better place when Aaron Rodgers is playing every week. He may not have the scrambling ability that we see from Patrick Mahomes or C.J. Stroud, and he is 40 years old, but the dude can still sling it better than anybody. In Week 1 on Monday Night Football this season, Rodgers was up against it big time playing opposite the San Francisco 49ers. The Niners proved themselves to be the better overall team that night. However, it was the first time we saw Rodgers play an entire NFL game in 20 months.

This Thursday night in primetime, the Dolphins welcome a familiar foe, the Buffalo Bills, to Miami for an early-season AFC North showdown. Both teams had to come back from double-digit deficits to win, with each game coming down to the wire. Miami had the lead for only 1 second in that game, as they needed a walk-off field goal to defeat the Jaguars. The Bills held off a potential game-winning drive from Kyler Murray and the Arizona Cardinals, securing a win in their home opener.

Week 1 of the 2024 NFL regular season is finally upon us! Let’s cross our fingers for no major injuries. It would be interesting, however, to see the Kansas City Chiefs try to play an entire season without the best football player in the league. This Thursday, the defending Super Bowl Champion Chiefs play host to the Baltimore Ravens in a rematch of last season’s AFC Championship Game, only with the home/away switched. The betting odds are close, as you may imagine, with the home Chiefs as field goal favorites in Arrowhead.

Both Mike Tomlin of the Steelers and the infamous Bill Belichick of the Patriots are two of the best head coaches the game has ever seen. Unfortunately for Belichick, his name is on the chopping block.

What a wild week of football and food that was! Betting the three big favorites on Turkey Day was a success, as two out of three came through for us. The Detroit Lions failed us, but the Niners and Cowboys won big over their division rivals. This week's Thursday Night Football matchup features two teams we saw on Thanksgiving. I like that. They each have equal rest, and we get a Thursday primetime game with both squads having a week to prepare.

In the late game on Thanksgiving, the Seattle Seahawks host the San Francisco 49ers at 8:20 Eastern. I imagine that’s about the time some of us start to come out of our food comas. The previous game got out of hand midway through the third quarter. Dallas just picked off Sam Howell for the third time today. Maybe you took a walk with your cousin. Maybe you had to kick your nephews Kaden and Braden off the couch. Either way, though, you found a way to sleep off that last meal, though.

Washington is coming off of an embarrassing loss at home to the New York Giants. That came after a spirited performance and close loss on the road against the Seattle Seahawks. I guess that one took the wind from the Commanders' sails.

The first of the day will be kicking off at 12:30 Eastern from the Motor City, as Coach of the Year betting favorite Dan Campbell and his Detroit Lions host the Green Bay Packers.
