NFL Survivor Pools Expert Advice and Predictions for Week 6
A lot of survivor pool players last week took a big hit - a fatal one as things go in these games. Philadelphia was the most popular pick, and they took care of business. But the Chiefs were a pick of a lot of people used as well, and they fell to the Colts in a fairly decisive manner. It wasn't a lopsided score, but it sure felt like Indy had the Chiefs figured out like not many teams have in the last couple of years. If you are still alive, though, then there is more work to be done. And there are three games this week that stand out as being clearly playable. Chances are pretty good that at least one of the three is available to you, too. Here's what to do if you are still alive in your NFL survivor pool:
New England vs. New York Giants: Chances are close to 100 percent that you have already picked the Patriots given their strong play and their stunningly weak schedule so far. But if, by some chance, you can still pick them, then they are a no brainer here. They are the biggest favorites by far for Week 6 , and they deserve to be. There are some concerns about the Patriots to be sure - they can't figure out the tight end position without Gronk, and they still need a wide receiver. But the Giants, despite showing some spark at time, are just not deep enough or experienced enough to make this one interesting. This is going to be a lopsided affair, and people who are able to pick them are not going to have to feel a lot of stress this week. Anything can happen in survivor pools, but if you can pick the Pats then you can probably start looking ahead to Week 7 already.

Baltimore vs. Cincinnati: This one is a total no-brainer and a very easy pick to make. I'll be playing the Ravens this week, and I won't be losing any sleep over it. Baltimore isn't perfect by any means - as their two losses so far show. But they are playing solid defense, they have a wildly exciting quarterback, and they are deep and talented. None of those things can be said about the Bengals. They just aren't any good. Their transition to new coaching has been rough. Their QB proves every week that he is not a franchise guy. They have a lack of talent in most spots and a lack of focus and execution to go with it. They are just a mess. The only thing they have going for this year is that the Dolphins and Redskins are even messier than them, so things don't look quite as bad as they should. Baltimore gets up for divisional games, and they know that the division is being handed to them on a silver platter this year if they can just step up and take it. The Ravens are going to cruise in this one and are a very easy pick.
Dallas at New York Jets: This is the third most common play of the week, and the Cowboys are the third biggest favorite this week, so this is a playable game. But I'll tell you that I just don't like it that much. To be clear, the Jets are a mess, so it's not that I expect them to dominate this one or anything. They were not as deep as they thought they were, and depth was already a concern for them. Plus, they have had lousy injury luck, and their coaching remains awful. They haven't won yet, and that is no fluke. They are in a tough spot, and I trust nothing about them. But right now, I don't trust anything about the Cowboys, either. After a strong start, they have lost two straight, and Dak Prescott has regressed in those games. They seemed like a mentally fragile team heading into the season, and it's hard to believe that Jason Garrett is on the most stable ground even though he manages to keep sticking around. As the team continues to struggle, the potential for them to have internal issues that can bleed onto the field and impact the level of play is high. There is absolutely no excuse for them to lose this game unless they beat themselves, but I can't rule out that possibility right now with any confidence, so I would only play them if I couldn't play one of the two much better options.
