MLB Picks: Indians at Tigers Series Odds and Predictions
by Robert Ferringo - 5/10/2013
The Cleveland Indians and Detroit Tigers aren’t two teams that move the needle nationally. But the Rust Belt rivals are two of the hottest teams in baseball right now and locking horns for a key American League Central series this weekend in Motown.
MLB Handicapping: Blue Jays and Angels Struggles
by Trevor Whenham - 5/10/2013
If you had surveyed 100 baseball fans before this season started about which team was going to win the American League, the large majority of answers would have been split between the Los Angeles Angels and the Toronto Blue Jays. At the time that made sense, but right now it is proving to be very, very wrong.
MLB Hot/Cold: Halladay Needs a Holiday
by Ricky Dimon - 5/8/2013
If it wasn’t time to panic already, it is now. At least if you have anything to do with the organizations in Los Angeles and Philadelphia. The Dodgers are 13-17 and in fourth place in their own division, but they don’t even have it as bad as the Angels and Phillies. Thanks in part to Josh Hamilton’s futility, the Angles are a horrendous 11-20. Roy Halladay has the second worst E.R.A in baseball among qualifying pitchers, and the Phillies are struggling at 15-18.
This Week in MLB Baseball Betting By the Numbers
by Aaron Smith - 5/7/2013
The calendar has flipped over to May, and there are plenty of big stories in Major League Baseball. Los Angeles can’t seem to get a winner despite having two teams with payrolls as big as the state of California. The only thing hot in Los Angeles right now is the seat for both Don Mattingly and Mike Scioscia.
Dodgers at Giants Series Picks and MLB Betting Odds
by Robert Ferringo - 5/3/2013
I know that the prepackaged narrative in the national media is that the Yankees-Red Sox rivalry is the most heated in baseball. But the fact is that if we’re measuring a rivalry by the amount of murders and near-death beatings inflicted by members of the opposing fan bases on one another, then you have to go with the Dodgers-Giants as the most vicious rivalry in the sport.
MLB Betting: Top 5 Futures Value Plays
by Aaron Smith - 5/3/2013
We are a little more than a month into the new season, and there have been some big surprises and big disappointments all over the MLB standings. As a baseball bettor, it’s always a good idea to try to take advantage of surprises and disappointments. It’s a long year, and just because one team has a good or bad month certainly doesn’t mean that’s the way it will be all year. That’s where finding value in MLB futures can be a very profitable venture.
MLB Handicapping and Betting: the Bullpen Report
by Aaron Smith - 5/1/2013
If you are a baseball bettor, there is no doubt that you have had some heartbreaking losses due to a bad bullpen outing. We’ve all been there. The starter does his job and hands it over to the bullpen, which proceeds to ruin all of the starter’s hard work and cost you money. It’s probably the most frustrating way to lose a wager.
MLB Handicapping: Downfall of the LA Angels
by Robert Ferringo - 5/1/2013
Halo Hype was all the rage this offseason, as bobbleheads and square bettors were salivating at the Los Angeles Angels heading into the 2013 baseball season. But if April has been any indication then we should steer clear of the temptation that these filthy devils pose to our bankrolls.
MLB Betting and Handicapping: Totals Trends Report
by Aaron Smith - 5/1/2013
It’s time for the second installment of the MLB Totals Trends Report. We’re now a month into the new baseball season. Some strange things have happened early in the year. Mike Scosia’s Angels are off to yet another horrible start, and he may be on the hot seat. The Red Sox have the best record in baseball. Remember, we are only one month into a season that is slightly more than six-months long.

How quickly things can change in Major League Baseball. The Atlanta Braves were swept right out of Detroit by the Tigers this past weekend. The Braves no longer have the best record in baseball. That honor now belongs to the Boston Red Sox, who are 18-7 so far this year.
MLB Betting and Handicapping: Scouting the Week Ahead
by Alan Matthews - 4/29/2013
Quick, name me the five starting pitchers on the Pittsburgh Pirates. You can probably list A.J. Burnett and Wandy Rodriguez off the top of your head. But after that? Well, the answer is James McDonald, Jonathan Sanchez (he's been terrible actually) and Jeff Locke. I mention this because take a look at which team leads all of baseball in opponents' batting average. Yep, it's Pittsburgh at .220. The staff ERA is tied for third in the league at 3.29, and it's the biggest reason why the Pirates are tied atop the NL Central with St. Louis.
MLB Handicapping Hot/Cold Pitchers and Hitters Betting Report
by Ricky Dimon - 4/29/2013
We’re far enough into the 2013 Major League Baseball season that it has become a roller-coaster ride for a number of teams and players. Take the Atlanta Braves, for instance. They simply could not lose during the first two weeks, and now they can barely win a game. Even Craig Kimbrel is blowing saves, for crying out loud! Felix Hernandez, on the other hand, has progressed from mediocre (solid by almost anyone else’s standards) to awesome.
MLB Handicapping: Changes to Petco Park and Safeco Field
by Aaron Smith - 4/25/2013
Over the last few years, Major League Baseball has really been dominated by the pitchers. A decade ago it would have been unheard of to have a posted total under seven, but now that can occur in multiple games in a single day. Those who follow the game closely don’t have to be told how much more frequent no-hitters and perfect games have been in the last few years. The edge has certainly swung from the batter over to the pitcher.
Braves at Tigers Predictions and MLB Series Picks
by Robert Ferringo - 4/24/2013
Season-long Interleague Play is new to Major League Baseball, and to this point the series have mostly been duds. As excited as I get for the Marlins-Twins and White Sox-Nationals series, there hasn’t been much buzz to these one-time novelty items.
MLB Baseball Betting: Studs and Duds
by Trevor Whenham - 4/23/2013
It seems like Opening Day was just yesterday, but we are already about 20 games into the baseball season. There is a very long way to go, but we are far enough into the season that it’s time to check in on the teams that are treating bettors well, and those that are putting bettors’ money in a pile and burning it up:
MLB Betting and Handicapping: Scouting the Week Ahead
by Alan Matthews - 4/22/2013
It's never wise to read too much into any one series being as there are around 50 of them for each Major League Baseball team every season. However, the Detroit Tigers sure appear somewhat overrated after they were swept in Anaheim over the weekend.

Who would have guessed that the Colorado Rockies would be on top of the National League West and the Boston Red Sox would be sitting on top of the American League East? There are plenty of surprises to go around early on this year.
MLB Handicapping Hot/Cold Pitchers and Hitters Betting Report
by Ricky Dimon - 4/22/2013
All kinds of players are doing their best to help their ballclubs in the early stages of the 2013 season. Some may not necessarily be succeeding, but they are certainly helping their fantasy owners. Among them are Mark Reynolds, whose Indians are playing sub-.500 baseball at 7-10 even though their designated hitter is on fire. As for the Orioles, they are a mediocre 10-8 with seven of their 10 victories having been saved by Jim Johnson. The 9-8 Mets, who have cooled off just a bit since a hot start, have watched pitching phenom Matt Harvey notch four of their nine wins.
MLB Handicapping: Atlanta Braves Hot Start
by Trevor Whenham - 4/17/2013
The Atlanta Braves seemed like a logical sleeper pick heading into this baseball season. At 16/1 or so they packed some nice value in World Series futures. Well, you sure can’t sleep on them anymore. They are off to a scorching 12-1 start and have won their last 10 games. That has driven their futures odds way down to 8/1 — and at this rate they could fall further still. It has been impressive to watch so far, but is it sustainable? Does this team has what it takes to contend all the way until October? Let’s take a look:
Handicapping the Oakland A’s Fast Start
by Trevor Whenham - 4/17/2013
Last year the A’s were at least tied with the Orioles for the title of the biggest surprise in baseball. No one other than the most loyal season ticket holders expected anything from the squad. Yet when the dust settled they had won the very tough AL West with a payroll a fraction of the size of their opponents.
