College Football Power Rankings: Ferringo 15
by Robert Ferringo - 10/31/2012
The Ferringo 15 made it a three-week winning streak as our top college football profit makers went 8-7 against the spread last week. That came just one week after an incredible 11-3 ATS effort from our teams and last week’s small win may be the signal that the books have caught up with these top moneymakers.
2012 NFL Power Rankings – Week 9
by Robert Ferringo - 10/30/2012
There are a lot of seemingly juicy lines on this week’s NFL board. And Week 9 appears likely to be, in terms of betting action, one of the most lopsided of the season. As of Wednesday, Denver (88 percent), Baltimore (91 percent), Detroit (83), Chicago (83), and Tampa Bay (82) were all taking the overwhelming majority of public bets. Houston (78 percent) and Green Bay (75) were not far behind.

by Robert Ferringo - 10/25/2012
It was another all-time week for the Ferringo 15! Our teams went a sparkling 11-3 against the spread and dominated the books. That now makes three of four winning weeks for our select teams, and over the past month they have gone a collective 34-18-1 ATS. It was also another successful week for the best of the best, with the top six teams on our list going 4-1 ATS. That runs their four-week rush to a spectacular 16-4-1 ATS.
2012-13 Big East Basketball Odds and Betting Predictions
by Robert Ferringo - 10/25/2012
Rest in peace, Big East. This is the final season of the Big East as we know it. Syracuse, Pittsburgh and Notre Dame are defecting to the ACC. Connecticut is entering the post-Calhoun era amidst a cloud of uncertainty and a postseason ban. And with several bizarre, football-driven realignment plans heading down the pipe it is clear that the years of The Beast being the dominating college basketball conference in the nation are coming to a close.
2012-13 Big Ten Basketball Odds and Betting Predictions
by Robert Ferringo - 10/23/2012
The Big Ten experienced a revival last season, with peak performance and parity resulting in a solid season for the boys in the Great Lakes region. Ohio State earned a trip to the Final Four, and the league finished with five teams ranked in the Top 16 in the final Associated Press poll of the 2011-12 season.
2012-13 SEC Basketball Odds and Betting Predictions
by Robert Ferringo - 10/23/2012
SEC basketball was collateral damage in the big BCS college football shakeup of 2011. Now comprised of a whopping 14 teams, the SEC is a bloated mess of college hoops pretenders. At one time this league had some of the best basketball in the nation. But right now it is a dominating Kentucky team, a couple of second-rate programs, and a host of third- and fourth-rate schools simply providing their fan base a distraction between kickoffs.
2012 NFL Power Rankings – Week 8
by Robert Ferringo - 10/23/2012
The Yo-Yo Effect was in full effect last week in the NFL. Two weeks ago underdogs dominated public bettors while going 11-3 against the spread and posting eight outright winners. Well, with the public now looking hard at the puppies, the favorites came back and went 7-4 on Sunday, with several of the squarest bets on the board (Dallas, Indianapolis, Green Bay) coming through for Joe Public.
2012-13 Pac-12 Basketball Odds and Betting Predictions
by Robert Ferringo - 10/18/2012
The Pac-12 was easily the most underrated conference in college basketball last season. And if I were a player in this venerable league, I’d be getting pretty pissed off about the second-class status that this conference has been shackled with over the past few seasons.
College Football Power Rankings: Ferringo 15
by Robert Ferringo - 10/18/2012
It was a rare losing week for the F-15, which went 6-6-1, with one team on a bye and two other teams – Utah State and San Jose State – playing one another. That runs the three-week mark to 23-15-1 ATS. Our top six teams went 3-1-1 and are now 12-3-1 over the last three weeks.
2012-13 Big 12 Basketball Odds and Betting Predictions
by Robert Ferringo - 10/18/2012
The math doesn’t add up in Big 12 basketball. Let’s ignore the fact that there are only 10 teams in the Big 12. And we’ll overlook the fact that the conference reshuffling that sucked Missouri and Texas A&M into the SEC cost college basketball 1) one of the best rivalries in the sport (Kansas-Missouri) and 2) one of the most efficient and profitable teams in college basketball betting, Texas A&M.
2012 NFL Power Rankings – Week 7
by Robert Ferringo - 10/16/2012
Underdogs were all the rage last week, going 11-3 ATS and posting eight outright winners. That is a victory for parity – and for the sportsbooks – and we’ll see this week if that is a trend that is going to continue or if the bettors are going to get yo-yoed this week, with the favorites evening things out on Sunday.
2012-13 ACC Basketball Odds and Betting Predictions
by Robert Ferringo - 10/16/2012
I said last year that the ACC sucked. And it did. Oh, it did. The ACC sent just five teams to the NCAA Tournament, with North Carolina State barely nudging their way into the Field of 68. In terms of college basketball betting, only five of the 12 teams in the league finished with profitable season for their backers. The most profitable team in the league was N.C. State, earning bettors a paltry +260 for the year. That was the lowest the total for best bet of any conference in the country.
College Football Power Rankings: Ferringo 15
by Robert Ferringo - 10/11/2012
It was another successful week for the Ferringo 15, with our teams posting a profitable 7-5 record against the spread last week and running the F-15’s two-week mark to 17-9 ATS. Our top six teams went 5-1 against the number, following a 9-1 mark from our Top 10 the week prior, and right now we are locked into the most valuable teams in college football.
2012 NFL Power Rankings – Week 6
by Robert Ferringo - 10/9/2012
Bye weeks are becoming more prevalent, and over the next six weeks it will become even more difficult for bettors to get an edge on the sportsbooks. Fewer games means fewer opportunities to exploit weak spots, and that means that the books will continue to hold a big edge over the players through one of the most difficult times on the sports betting calendar.
College Football Power Rankings: Ferringo 15
by Robert Ferringo - 10/5/2012
It was the best week yet for the Ferringo 15 this season, with our top 11 teams combining to go 9-1 against the total (Kansas State was on a bye week) and the F-15 earning a 10-4 mark overall on the weekend. Here are this week’s Ferringo 15 college football power rankings (all records are ATS against the closing line) for what have been the most valuable teams in college football betting so far this year:
2012 NFL Power Rankings – Week 5
by Robert Ferringo - 10/2/2012
The first quarter of the season is finished, and the momentum is building for a lot of teams that have come out of the gate fast. Clubs like Minnesota, Philadelphia and Arizona are riding the wave of their clutch September. But the oddsmakers are taking note, and now those teams are going to have to continue to perform as expectations rise.
College Football Power Rankings: Ferringo 15

College football teams are starting to separate themselves, both on the turf and at the window. And while the beginning of the season (“Hey, college football is back! Hooray!”) and the end of the year bowl season (“Meineke Car Care Bowl, here we come!”) get most of the attention from college football fans, it is really the next six weeks that will determine the course of most schools’ seasons.

Being a professional handicapper and gambler is all about risk management. It is all about being able to manipulate the chaos of very volatile, independent markets (the sports) and to assess the potential hazards and opportunities of every wager that is placed.
College Football Power Rankings: Ferringo 15

Last Saturday capped a Salvation Army weekend for the Ferringo 15 – it was nonprofit. Our teams went 7-7 against the spread, with several of them winning games but losing at the window to the inflated spreads that they are now shackled with. (Perhaps the oddsmakers are reading the Ferringo 15 and adjusting accordingly! Ha!)
2012 NFL Power Rankings – Week 3
by Robert Ferringo - 9/18/2012
It was a better week for first- and second-year starters at quarterback, with the young signal callers going 3-3 against the spread when matched up against a veteran quarterback. However, that was not a profitable week and over the first two weeks these young bucks have gone 5-9 ATS when facing a quarterback with three or more years of experience.
