2012 NFL Power Rankings – Week 5
by Robert Ferringo - 10/2/2012
The first quarter of the season is finished, and the momentum is building for a lot of teams that have come out of the gate fast. Clubs like Minnesota, Philadelphia and Arizona are riding the wave of their clutch September. But the oddsmakers are taking note, and now those teams are going to have to continue to perform as expectations rise.
College Football Power Rankings: Ferringo 15
by Robert Ferringo - 9/27/2012
College football teams are starting to separate themselves, both on the turf and at the window. And while the beginning of the season (“Hey, college football is back! Hooray!”) and the end of the year bowl season (“Meineke Car Care Bowl, here we come!”) get most of the attention from college football fans, it is really the next six weeks that will determine the course of most schools’ seasons.
2012 NFL Power Rankings – Week 4

Being a professional handicapper and gambler is all about risk management. It is all about being able to manipulate the chaos of very volatile, independent markets (the sports) and to assess the potential hazards and opportunities of every wager that is placed.
College Football Power Rankings: Ferringo 15
by Robert Ferringo - 9/20/2012
Last Saturday capped a Salvation Army weekend for the Ferringo 15 – it was nonprofit. Our teams went 7-7 against the spread, with several of them winning games but losing at the window to the inflated spreads that they are now shackled with. (Perhaps the oddsmakers are reading the Ferringo 15 and adjusting accordingly! Ha!)
2012 NFL Power Rankings – Week 3
by Robert Ferringo - 9/18/2012
It was a better week for first- and second-year starters at quarterback, with the young signal callers going 3-3 against the spread when matched up against a veteran quarterback. However, that was not a profitable week and over the first two weeks these young bucks have gone 5-9 ATS when facing a quarterback with three or more years of experience.

2012 NFL Power Rankings – Week 2
by Robert Ferringo - 9/11/2012
I have a long-standing theory that rookies and freshmen suck. I understand this theory is at odds with the national obsession with potential, but in my experience no players are more overrated and no one’s impact is more overstated than a rookie or a freshman.
NFL Odds: Line Movement for Week 1
by Robert Ferringo - 9/5/2012
I have been staring at these NFL Week 1 odds long enough to make my eyes bleed. Now its time to make the books bleed. The sportsbooks, both online and in Las Vegas, posted early NFL lines back in May. They do this to generate interest and stoke the flame of the biggest moneymaker in gambling. Then the NFL Week 1 spreads hit the board in earnest back in July, with most of the early action on these games came from sharp, professional bettors.

The opening weekend of college football betting was another strong start for the Ferringo 15. Our teams went 8-4 against the spread to get us off to a profitable start. The Ferringo 15 college football power rankings are my profit/power rankings. They are a ratings list of the 15 teams I feel currently have the most value in college football betting. It is a culmination of past, present, and future projected achievement against the spread.
2012 NFL Power Rankings – Week 1
by Robert Ferringo - 9/4/2012
I’ve been staring at these NFL Week 1 odds for over two months. I’ve been analyzing every matchup, every permutation, and every angle of these games as I desperately waited for the 2012 NFL season to begin. And now it is here. Week 1 in the NFL is finally here after another excruciating offseason, and we are about to begin another six-month battle march towards Super Bowl XLVII.
College Football Handicapping: Best Teams to Bet Against
by Robert Ferringo - 8/30/2012
College football handicapping can be overwhelming for the average bettor. With around 130 teams employing around 80 players apiece that is over 10,000 college football players for gamblers to track. It is nearly impossible to keep up with position battles, injuries, playing time and individual performance. As a result, most bettors simply throw their money behind the schools they know and the teams that have established themselves as traditional powers.
College Football Power Rankings: Ferringo 15
by Robert Ferringo - 8/28/2012
The Ferringo 15 college football power rankings is my own twist on the obsessive ranking systems that pervade this sport. The Ferringo 15 is my profit-power rankings and a rating of the 15 teams that hold the most value in college football betting at the moment. It is a reflection of past, present, and projected future achievement against the spread.
College Football Betting Advice: Teams to Follow
by Robert Ferringo - 8/27/2012
The terms “overrated” and “underrated” get thrown around all the time in sports discussions. Most of the time these discussions are simply fodder for bar room arguments or used to create noise from the bobblehead media. But the reality is that it is very difficult to keenly and accurately assess a team’s actual performance against their expectations, which can be more ambiguous.
NFL Handicapping: Bad Offensive Lines
by Robert Ferringo - 8/27/2012
Offensive line play is the most underrated aspect of NFL handicapping. While media bobbleheads and square bettors spend a majority of their time talking about quarterbacks, running backs and the next-big-thing at wide receiver – this focus is due in part to America’s “other” gambling obsession, fantasy football – one of the most overlooked issues for any given team is the play of the large mammals along the o-line.
Opinion: NFL Replacement Officials Will Cost Bettors Money
by Robert Ferringo - 8/23/2012
Officiating is one of The Great Unknowns in sports betting. You can quantify, predict and handicap just about all aspects of a given game, regardless of sport. But when the bullets start to fly, the referees, umpires and officials can be a bettor’s best friend or worst enemy.
NFL Preseason Quarterback Rankings
by Robert Ferringo - 8/9/2012
When would Peyton Manning, Aaron Rodgers and Philip Rivers find themselves on the bottom of a list ranking NFL quarterbacks? When we’re talking about NFL Preseason betting, of course! One of the most important factors to consider when betting on the NFL preseason is the quarterback rotations.
2012 Big East Football Predictions and Futures Odds
by Robert Ferringo - 8/2/2012
You can have the SEC. I will take the Big East. The SEC is a monolith in the world of college football. They dominate the headlines, they have cast a veil over the eyes of the fans and people who analyze it, and they dictate the conversation of everything from the National Championship to the Heisman Trophy.
2012 Pac-12 Football Predictions and Futures Odds
by Robert Ferringo - 8/1/2012
There is plenty of buzz on the Left Coast heading into this year’s Pac-12 season. Three talented, volatile coaches – Rich Rodriguez, Todd Graham and Mike Leach – have entered the fray and are looking to make their mark on the conference.
2012 Big 12 Football Predictions and Futures Odds
by Robert Ferringo - 7/31/2012
The Big 12, both collectively and individually, is having a bit of an identity crisis. Oklahoma is trying to keep from becoming the August National Champions for about the fifth year in a row. (In the NFL we call this the San Diego Chargers Effect.) Texas is trying to avoid the 8-4 record that would officially relegate them to also-ran status.
2012 Chicago Bears Predictions and Odds to Win Super Bowl
by Robert Ferringo - 7/28/2012
The start of NFL training camp is one of the most optimistic times on the sports betting calendar. Every professional football player is dreaming of a career year and eventual Super Bowl glory while every football bettor is conjuring up images of that perfect season with no bad beats and windfall profits.
