Take Miami (-115) over New York Mets (7 p.m., Thursday, April 13)
I am playing for a big week on the diamond, with a 5-Unit MLB Play on Wednesday and my first 7-Unit MLB Play of the year on Saturday. Miami really took it to the Mets last week in Citi Field, and I don't think it is going to get any easier for New York here. Wei-Yin Chen dominated the Mets last week, and I think that this New York team, which has all of its power on the left-hand side, is going to struggle against southpaws all season long. They are only hitting .231 so far and haven't looked good. Robert Gsellman will take the ball in this one. He was OK in his first attempt against the Marlins, striking out six. But he threw too many pitches and took the loss in just five innings of work. Gsellman is a pure No. 5 starter and he is going to be up and down all season long. Take Texas over L.A. Angels (3:30 p.m., Thursday, April 13)
Listed Pitchers: Tex: Y. Darvish (0-1, 3.65 ERA) LAA: R. Nolasco (0-1, 3.86 ERA), This pick falls into one of my top MLB systems and the Rangers have the superior pitcher on the mound here Thursday afternoon. The Angels have hit just .238 as a team lifetime against Darvish and opponents have hit just .190 against him over his two starts this season. Darvish had an ERA of just 2.28 over 7 road starts last season, with opponents hitting just .185 against him, and I expect him to pitch better on the road than at home again this season. Darvish has an ERA of 3.28 at home the last 3 season while having an ERA of 3.1 on the road and he has an ERA of just 1.78 in day games the last 3 seasons, with opponents hitting just .198 against him. The Rangers have hit .284 as a team lifetime against Nolasco with an OBP of .351, and opponents have hit .250 against him over his two starts this season. The Rangers faced Nolasco once last season, leaving him with an ERA of 4.50 while hitting .360 as a team against him, so I expect plenty of run support for Darvish Thursday although he shouldn't need much. Free MLB Baseball Prediction From Jason Sharpe :
Take #916 Cleveland (-130) over Detroit (7 p.m., Friday, April 14)
The two best teams in the American League Central go head to head here in this one. The Cleveland Indians won the AL Central division last year as they owned the Tigers, beating them 14 of the 18 times that these two teams faced off. Detroit goes with left-hander Daniel Norris in this game. Norris is a solid up-and-coming southpaw, but he has not looked sharp early on this year as he posted an ERA above 6.00 in the spring and was shaky in his regular-season debut also. The soon to be 24-year-old has been a slow starter in the past with an ERA of 4.22 in the first half of the baseball season compared to a solid 3.43 ERA after the All-Star break. It's been the opposite for Cleveland's Trevor Bauer as he's been a quick starter the past years as he's posted his lowest monthly ERA in the month of April throughout his career. The Indians were tough at home last year as they ended up tied for the most home wins in the American League in 2016. Added all up and they look the much better side here in this one. Take St. Louis over New York Yankees (7 p.m., Friday, April 14)
We are going to be a little gutsy and take the Cardinals on the road against the Yankees behind last year's disappointment in Michael Wacha. But, Wacha has come back with a vengeance. In his first outing since giving up 17 runs in 12 innings of work in September, Wacha pitched strong against the Reds in giving up 1 run on 3 hits en route to a 10-4 win for the Cardinals. Wacha took a lot of heat for his poor performance in September of 2016, and we like him to keep that fire and motivation as he pitches against the Yankees. The Yankees have talent but are very, very young. And, as they face a pitcher who is motivated and who they have very little experience against, don't be surprised to see Wacha very strong in this outing of interleague play. Take Washington (-1.5) over Philadelphia (4 p.m., Friday, April14)

I am going with a 5-Unit MLB Play on Thursday. For this free play I see a blowout. This one should be Aaron Nola and Stephen Strasburg. The Nationals are going to want revenge against Nola. The last time they faced him was just last week in a 17-3 win by the Phillies. Nola won't be so fortunate here. The last time he started in Washington was last June. He allowed four runs in just three innings. Some of Nola's worst starts in his young career have come against the Nationals, and he had a 5.13 ERA against them last year. The Phillies are now just 2-5 in his seven starts against Washington. Strasburg beat Philadelphia last week, and his stuff has been really good to start the season. Take Over 8.0 San Diego at Atlanta (4 p.m., Saturday, April 15)
The Atlanta Braves have made some nice moves in recent years to improve the team, but one head-scratcher was the signing of 42-year old R.A. Dickey. The knuckleballer clearly took a couple of steps backwards with the Blue Jays, and some insiders pegged him for retirement. Now he goes to the humid air of Atlanta, which will likely be trouble for his knuckleball. On Saturday he'll make his home debut in Atlanta, and it could get ugly quick. The Padres rotation has all kinds of issues, and Clayton Richard certainly isn't going to help quell anyone's fears. The left-hander has been working mostly from the bullpen over the last couple of seasons, and I'm not sure he has the arsenal to be a full-time starter. The Braves lineup is a lot better than people are giving it credit for, and I think they get to Richard early and often. Take the OVER in our Free Play selection for Saturday. Take Golden State (-250) To Win Western Conference
I know -250 is a big price, but from what I have seen from the Warriors while KD was out and now he is back I don't see anybody in the West beating them. If healthy the Warriors will be a favorite in all 'Series' against Western Conference opponents, and they will beat teams on their team defense not their team offense.
