A little shocked on how low this total was posted just because the Eagles last two losses their defense gave up over 35 points in both games. The Jaguars defense have also given up some points, and I see both teams putting up points against each other. Georgia Southern is 10-1 O/U following ATS loss, and the Eagles are 8-3 O/U last 11 games. South Alabama is 6-0 O/U following an ATS cover, and I do see points being scored Thursday night. I have posted a healthy 12-4 (75%) college football run, and I am looking to build on that this week. I have earned more than +1,000 over the last two weeks and will continue to build on that this week with a tighter card. I know a lot of people felt burned by Kansas State last week; there was a lot of sharp early money on them at Oklahoma State. But that was a bad spot for the Wildcats. I think that this one is much more viable for them. Manhattan is one of the toughest venues in the Big 12, and the Wildcats are 6-1 ATS in the last seven games there. I think that if the Wildcats are going to rebound it will be here. Baylor is coming off a slugfest against Iowa State. That game was Baylor's first against real competition the entire season after playing a bunch of cupcakes. And I think that they are going to struggle here in their first true road test. Kansas State has revenge for a tight loss at Baylor last year, and I think that the Wildcats are a better team now. The home team has won seven of 10 in this series, and Kansas State is 7-3 ATS in the last 10. The Wildcats are 4-1 ATS in the last five meetings. I'll go with the home team in what I think will be another low-scoring game for both teams. Take Northwestern (+7.5) over Nebraska (3:30 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 5)

What in the world is Nebraska doing laying 7.5 to anyone, especially against Northwestern, who they always struggle with? Dating back to 2011, all games between these two teams, except one, was decided by 7 points or less. The last 2 years it had come down to Overtime, with the Wildcats winning both those games. The Huskers were destroyed by Ohio State last week in a nationally televised game, ESPN College Gameday was there, and the narrative was this is Nebraska's measuring stick game. Well, they were dominated, and the defense was shredded, and OL was dominated. QB Martinez for the Huskers looked bad, and despite all the preseason Heisman hype has looked pedestrian at best. The big issue with Nebraska is turnovers as they are a turnover machine and they also are riddled with penalties as well. Northwestern held mighty Wisconsin to under 260 yards total offense last week in a closer than expected loss, and Wisconsin is far more physical than Nebraska, who has issues on the OL. Northwestern is 13-2 as a road underdog their last 15. And while their offense is weak, they can exploit a Husker defense that gives up huge plays and does not tackle well. Should be a wire-to-wire game, and my money is on Northwestern to cover the number here in Lincoln in a hard-fought game between two teams trying to find their identity. Take Northwestern +7.5. Last week we just barely missed out on making it nine straight winning football weeks! This total has dropped four points. I don't think that the Redskins are going to start Dwayne Haskins again. Colt McCoy is healthy, and I think that the veteran will get the call. That will be a big help for a Redskins offense that really struggled last week. The Patriots offense was held to just 16 points in Buffalo. They had that game in hand in the second half, and they knew that they had knocked out the Bills quarterback. That made New England's offense go very conservative against a really good Buffalo defense. Washington's defense is one of the worst in the NFL. The Redskins have allowed an average of 30 points per game, and they are No. 28 in total defense and No. 29 in rushing defense. The Patriots are No. 5 in the NFL in scoring, and I think that they will pass their average of 30.5 points per game. This game looks like it will be a blowout, similar to the Patriots 30-14 win over the Jets that went 'over'. I have this game as 37-10, and it will get over the total. Take 'Under' 47.5 Arizona at Cincinnati (1 p.m., Sunday, Oct.6)

Arizona and Cincinnati remain winless this NFL season as we head into October. Among the many issues for both teams is their inability to score and to do so with any consistency. For example, Arizona is 25th in the league in scoring at 18.5 points a game. Take away the 21 points they scored in the fourth quarter and OT against Detroit in the season opener when Kyler Murray got hot, and their average would be even lower. The Bengals are even worse at 30th, registering 14.2 PPG, with Andy Dalton having little time in the pocket and no threat of a running game to take the pressure off. For this ugly matchup, we are looking at when the total is between 42.5 and 49 points and a team like the Cardinals is off a loss by 10 points or more to a division rival, against an opponent off two consecutive road losses, the Under is 22-4. This pick falls into one of my top NFL systems, and the Saints are hands-down the superior team at home here Sunday. New Orleans has plenty of offensive weapons, and I was very impressed with their defensive play against the Cowboys last week. Tampa Bay has allowed 29.3 points per game this season, with opponents averaging 377.5 yards per game against them. Although I was impressed with the Buccaneers road win against the Rams, it was turnovers that cost the Rams that game, and now they face a Saints team that doesn't turn the ball over very often. Bridgewater has completed 67.8% of his passes this season, and Kamara has averaged 70 yards per game rushing this season and 4.75 yards per rush. New Orleans has been a covering machine in the month of October, going 22-5 ATS in their last 27 games played in October, and they are 22-8 ATS in their last 30 games after covering the spread in their previous game. Tampa Bay is 2-5 ATS in their last 7 games after a win by more than 14 points, and they happen to be just 1-7-1 ATS in their last 9 games played in October.
