World Cup Soccer Prediction From Scott Rickenbach:

Take Switzerland (+105) vs Algeria (11 p.m., Thursday, July 2)

This is on the 3-way money line (standard) in soccer, so Switzerland must win the match in regulation to win our bet. If this match is all tied up after injury / stoppage time then we lose our bet. Our bet cannot be decided in the added extra period or penalty kicks if the match goes that far.  I like Switzerland plenty here as the big difference between these clubs has been in terms of goal prevention. Switzerland has allowed just 1 goal in all 3 matches in this tournament. In fact, in their last 6 matches overall they have allowed 1 goal or less in all 6 matches. Algeria, on the other hand, is off a 3-3 battle with Austria plus had to rally against Jordan after being down 1-0 at the half. The Swiss have the stronger side and I expect them to frustrate Algeria and look for a 2-1 type of win for the favorite here in this one. These are two teams that are trending toward the under in this NL matchup. Kyle Harrison takes the ball for the Brewers. The lefty is having a career-best year with a 2.57 ERA and 96 strikeouts in 77.0 innings. Harrison has a 2.08 ERA in his last three starts and has gone under the total in 6 of 10 starts. Arizona will start Dominican rookie Jose Cabrera. The Brewers have never seen Cabrera before. He has looked strong in both of his starts. World Cup Soccer Prediction From Robert Ferringo:

Take Mexico (+240) and Draw (+220) over England (4 p.m., Sunday, July 5)

I love the value here with Mexico. You’re getting over 2-to-1 on either of them to win or draw in regulation (90 minutes but extra time). This match is being played in Mexico City, giving El Tri a massive home crowd advantage. Further, they had an extra day of rest and do not have to travel. England, on the other hand, was lucky to escape DR Congo on Wednesday. Had Congo played a little smarter in the final 20 minutes then England would be going home. That was a grueling match for the Brits, who now have to travel and have one fewer day to recover. They will also be playing at altitude, further testing their fitness. Mexico has looked awesome in all four matches. They are undefeated in 12 matches, with 10 outright wins, and they have only conceded twice during that stretch (23-2 aggregate). England is 11-2-2 in its last 15 matches – with exactly one impressive win (Croatia). They’ve beaten a bunch of bad teams and haven’t looked good against Ghana, Panama or Congo in their last three. I like Mexico to advance (+125) as well. But I don’t see England winning this one in regulation, if they win at all.
