NFL Free Prop Predictions - Week 16
by Jay Horne - 12/25/2009
Merry Christmas to everyone enjoying the holidays this week. After everyone finishes wrapping presents on Christmas Day, Week 16 in the NFL will kick off with the San Diego Chargers and Tennessee Titans in a Friday night special. Our free prop selections will involve today’s game along with other action throughout the holiday weekend. Our selections did take a slide last week, going just 1-2, but we still hold a profitable mark through the month of December thanks to a 3-0 sweep in week 14. We also have a few NFL betting lines marked to take advantage of this week surrounding some of the NFL’s top performers from last week. Take a look at this week’s edition of our free prop predictions for week 16 in the NFL. All of these early betting lines can be found at Sportsbook.com.
Prop Bet No. 1 Total field goals made San Diego vs. Tennessee Titans week 16
Over 3.5 (+135)
Under 3.5 (-165)
The San Diego Chargers attempt to crush the Tennessee Titans slim postseason possibilities this Friday night. The Chargers potent passing offense, led by Phillip Rivers, will match-up well with the worst AFC pass defense, one that has allowed 265 yards per game through the air this season. Not only are the Chargers expected to move the football, but the Titans have been very effective at getting the ball in the end zone in recent weeks. Both teams are averaging roughly two field goals per game, but bad playing conditions will limit that from happening when the two tangle on LP Field. Winds are expected to be gusting up to the 30-miles-per-hour range and lingering around 20 miles per hour consistently. This is not one of the most profitable bets due to the (-165) juice, but it is a very high probable bet due to the harsh weather conditions that will be causing problems in both the passing and kicking games.
Pick – Under 3.5
Prop Bet No. 2 Andre Johnson total receiving yards vs. Miami Dolphins week 16
Over 100 ½ (-115)
Under 100 ½ (-115)
Houston wide receiver Andre Johnson has exploded over the last two weeks with back-to-back performances of 193 and 196 yards, which equated to two straight wins for the Texans. Houston will now meet up with the Dolphins this week in a battle of AFC Wild Card hopefuls as both teams currently stand at 7-7 on the season. The Dolphins pass defense has given up 234 yards per game this year, but they have also only given up 100 yards by one receiver once in their last five games. Plus, the Dolphins are playing much better than the public perceives. If not for an overtime loss last week to the Titans, the Dolphins would be currently in the playoffs having won five of their last six games. Running back Ricky Williams has suddenly taken over in the running game and eclipsed the 1,000-yard barrier last week. Miami will control the ground game against the Texans defense that has allowed 4.4 yards per attempt. The Dolphins ground game will be the difference as they control the football from start to finish keeping the Texans offense with limited opportunities.
Pick – Under 100 ½
Prop Bet No. 3 Jerome Harrison total rushing yards vs. Oakland Raiders week 16
Over 95 ½ (-110)
Under 95 ½ (-120)
Browns running back Jerome Harrison exploded last week, rushing for 286 yards in a 41-34 win over Kansas City. The problem for Cleveland is that Brady Quinn was injured in the victory and has now been placed on injury reserve. Derek Anderson will now enter behind center, which may be more bad news for Cleveland. Anderson has thrown the football miserably this season with nine interceptions and just two touchdowns in very limited playing time over a six-game stretch. The Browns new found hope in Harrison and he will be their game plan against an Oakland defense that has given up an embarrassing 148 yards per game, ranking 28th in the NFL. Harrison had more than 34 carries last week against the Chiefs, meaning they are likely to feed him the ball at least 25 times this Sunday. The Raiders are giving up more than 4.5 yards per attempt and if Harrison is just slightly successful given the number of carries then he should be in for some solid numbers.
Pick – Over 95 ½
