Thursday Night Football Picks: Denver Broncos vs Kansas City Chiefs

As I sit here, quiet and alone, momentarily, above the madness, atop the 18th floor with a carefully crafted, albeit coached, Negroni cocktail, gazing upon the crescent moon here in the Philippines, I have to admit…it feels good to know the Kansas City Chiefs, for the first time in over a decade, will miss the playoffs.
Am I happy Patrick Mahomes tore his ACL? Of course not. Had it been Mr. Pfizer, though, well, I progress.
It’s been a beautiful year for us here at Doc’s Sports. Run the tape. I did today, and for 1 unit bettors, we’ve amassed an ROI exceeding 50% on primetime games and basic strategy teasers.
In ball sports, I simply never got it. However, in fighting and martial arts, talent carried me to the top of the class with ease. Passion and obsession have led me to places physically, professionally, geographically, and, of most importance, emotionally, that I never dreamed of.
Along the way, however, I also have stories of how laziness has left me sprinting down the docks screaming after a sailing ship more times than I care to admit.
For the first time in my life, though, I’ve managed to pair hard work with talent, and in this golden age, nothing has ever felt better. Not even close.
That being said, this Christmas Day/night game between the Kansas City Chiefs and their division rival Denver Broncos, is a 2/7 off suite if I’ve ever seen it.
Maybe if we had a -12.5 on the wild horses, had Mahomes not torn his ACL, or Gardner Minshew, not a week later, tear his own, perhaps if this weren’t a divisional matchup, things would be easier from a handicapping perspective, fair, if you will.
It takes me back to when I was denied the role of Hamlet as a high school freshman. As green as I was, I knew I deserved it. However, the man said no. You’re too young, and in retrospect, he saw talent and my ability to dig deeper.
Me, though, my 15-year-old fire-breathing mouth let him have it. Thankfully, he didn’t send me to the principal’s office. Instead, he kept it real and told me something I’ll never forget. After screaming in his face, “That’s not fair!”, he gave me the best advice anyone ever has: “Life’s not fair.”
Admittedly, at the time, I didn’t see the lesson that has now lodged itself, for nearly 20 years now, between my cauliflower ears.
I don’t need to continue with the semantics, though. You get it. Life’s not fair. When I teach children how to fight and, more importantly, build confidence, I go back to just that and use the words “Life is” as a preface to whatever their complaint may be.
It works quite well on kids, but I warn against it when dealing with other adults. It’s hard to tell sometimes whose butt is ready to be hurt and whose isn’t.

Denver Broncos (-13) at Kansas City Chiefs (+13)
The lookahead line for this game was obviously a lot closer than 13, but that doesn’t matter. Raise your dishonest duke if you’ve heard of the Chiefs’ current starting quarterback, Chris Oladokun.
To quote the late great “Old Conor” McGregor, “Who that fook is that guy?”
Oladokun played for not one, not two, but three college football teams before he was drafted by the Pittsburgh Steelers in the seventh round in 2022.
Point Total: 36.5

Denver Broncos at Kansas City Chiefs Betting Analysis
As a man who leads others into battle, I have an eye for an eye, but not in the traditional sense. I see Oladokun as a kill-or-be-killed competitor. In MMA betting, these men and women are the ones you bet the fight not to go the distance.
Forgive me for my lack of analysis, but I see this game going one of two directions. The Chiefs’ third stringer will either sink or swim. He’s not gonna just float on his back like one of us would on a lazy Friday afternoon in a South Florida pool.
I read his words this week, and the young man from Tampa is gonna go for it.
Either he throws two pick-sixes and the angry Broncos offense, off a loss, put up 24 on their own, or he manages to keep it competitive, the best play here, like it is more often than not, is against the narrative. Let’s go towards the key number of 37 and over the 36.5 points in the joy/belly-filled late game between the Chiefs and Broncos on Christmas Day.
