Despite missing the playoffs last year, the aspirations are sky-high for Baltimore heading into the new season. The Ravens are once again led by two-time MVP Lamar Jackson at quarterback and are one of the Super Bowl favorites this year. However, Jackson’s 3-6 career playoff record is a stark comparison compared to his stellar regular season stats, and the front office will be hoping this is the year they can get over the hump. Will a fresh head coach and some new faces change the narrative in Baltimore, or will it be another disappointing season for the AFC North favorites?

Baltimore Ravens Offseason Recap

The Baltimore Ravens were active in the offseason, starting with the dismissal of their 18-year head coach John Harbaugh. Harbaugh was the heart and soul of the Ravens for nearly two decades, but left on a sour note after he missed the postseason last year. He finished with a 193-124 record and a Super Bowl win, but was unable to capitalize on a talented roster for the last several seasons. With Harbaugh moving on, Jesse Minter was given the reins as head coach. This is his first head-coaching job at the professional level, having most recently served as the defensive coordinator for the Los Angeles Chargers. Minter built a strong defense in Los Angeles and kept the team competitive through several injuries. He is a very relationship-driven coach who emphasizes accountability and hopes to create a competent unit on the defensive side of the ball. 

On the field, the Ravens parted ways with longtime All-Pro center Tyler Linderbaum after he signed with the Raiders. Linderbaum was the anchor in the middle of the offensive line, which will be a tough hole to fill heading into the new season. Ethan Pocic is slated to be the starting center after coming to Baltimore from Cleveland, and is a good, not great, replacement. 

While the Ravens' offensive line got downgraded, their defensive line got a massive upgrade. Baltimore was in line to sign defensive lineman Maxx Crosby from the Raiders, but after he failed his physical, Baltimore was forced to pull out of the deal. While that was a tough pill for Ravens fans to swallow, they arguably got an even more impactful player in Trey Hendrickson from their division rivals in Cincinnati. Hendrickson logged 17.5 sacks in both the 2023 and 2024 seasons, before an injury-riddled 2025 campaign derailed his momentum. His explosive first step combined with his ability to time the snap makes him a nearly impossible man to slow down, and will command double teams on almost every play. Not only will Hendrickson make an impact, but as opposing offensive lines zero in on his talent, it will create holes for his teammates to get to the quarterback. 

Baltimore Ravens Season Expectations

The expectations in Baltimore, as long as Lamar Jackson remains healthy, will be Super Bowl or bust. Last year the Ravens got off to a 1-5 start before clawing their way back to a do-or-die game against the Steelers in Week 18. They fell short and missed the playoffs, but there are reasons for optimism that it will be a much different story this season. 

Jackson is still one of the best quarterbacks in the league, and his arm is often overlooked thanks to his reliable legs. The dual-threat quarterback threw 41 passing touchdowns to just four interceptions in the 2024 season, allowing him to claim his second career MVP award. The constant threat that Jackson can take off down the field forces linebackers to stay patient, but he will just as easily drop a deep ball in the bucket if he finds single coverage. A strong season from Jackson will get the Ravens right back in the mix, and their 11.5 win total could look far too low in a few months. 

As if Jackson in the pocket wasn’t daunting enough, the Ravens also have the freight train that is Derrick Henry in the backfield. Henry may start fading as he enters the twilight of his career, but he still posted 1,595 yards with 5.2 yards per carry last season. The 32-year-old is capable of making big plays on his own and is part of a truly lethal duo in Baltimore. 

In terms of pass catchers, the Ravens have Zay Flowers and Rashod Bateman as their top two receivers, with Mark Andrews still holding down the tight end position. Flowers posted a career-high 1,211 yards last season with a handful of rushing yards to go along with it, and doesn’t need a second invitation to rack up yards after the catch. 

On the defensive side of the ball, a once-dominant unit looked pedestrian last year and will likely determine how much of a threat Baltimore is in the AFC. Kyle Hamilton anchors their secondary and can shut down opposing WR1s, while Roquan Smith is the emotional leader in the middle of the field. If the Ravens second round pick Zion Young can make an impact up front, Baltimore will suddenly be a very dangerous defense with very few holes to exploit. 

2026 Baltimore Ravens Schedule Breakdown

The Ravens have a very manageable schedule this year and are rightful favorites to win the AFC North. They have the ninth-easiest schedule in the league based on last year’s win percentages, and the sixth-easiest based on this year’s projected win totals. They open up the year against the Colts, Saints, Cowboys, Titans, Falcons, and Browns, none of which made the playoffs last year. Avoiding another 1-5 start or a similar deep hole will be crucial, as Baltimore was playing ‘must-win’ football for the entirety of the second half last season. They then face the Bengals, Bills, Jaguars, and Chargers, which will probably determine their playoff aspirations. After their Week 13 bye, Baltimore has four straight divisional games to close out the year, meaning there will almost certainly be meaningful football in Baltimore down the stretch. 

2026 Baltimore Ravens Odds

The Baltimore Ravens have the second-best Super Bowl odds (along with the Bills) at +1000. A talented quarterback like Lamar Jackson will always have the Ravens as contenders, and they are AFC North favorites at -110 to win the division. Staying in the regular season, Baltimore has a win total of 11.5 with +110 odds on the over, with +750 odds to have the best record in the NFL. An easy schedule combined with a motivated Jackson has raised the Ravens’ ceiling, and they could certainly surpass all their regular season expectations. 

In the playoffs, which Baltimore is -375 to make, they have +225 odds to make the AFC championship game with +475 odds to win the conference. 

2026 Baltimore Ravens Season Predictions and Best Bets

There is a lot to like about the Ravens. They have a fresh head coach with a truly elite quarterback, no shortage of defensive talent, and plenty to prove after their disappointing 2025 season. Their offense should be firing on all cylinders, and an invigorated defensive effort could have them as Super Bowl contenders. 

But…
A lot has to go right for a team that went 8-9 last year, and it is hard to justify these sky-high odds. I am not saying the Ravens will be a complete disaster this year, and they will probably make the playoffs, but automatically assuming Jackson and company can bounce right back to the top is a lot to ask. Henry will eventually slow down at running back, especially considering his style of running, and the Ravens don’t have many other true game-changers on offense. 

In terms of how to fade Baltimore, there are a few avenues we can attack. Taking the Ravens to miss the playoffs at +280 is certainly a juicy payout; the better plus money pick is taking them to finish second in the AFC North. We can get +375 odds on the Bengals to win the AFC North and the Ravens to come second, which has plenty of upside. I expect Cincinnati to surpass expectations and the Ravens to fall short, and also don’t see either the Steelers or Browns surpassing Baltimore for second. 

For the second pick, we will take the Ravens to finish under 11.5 wins at -140 odds. Despite their easy schedule, if the Ravens drop any of their winnable games in the first six weeks, it will be tough for them to reach that lofty total. This team will be good, but will they be the best or second-best team in the league? Unlikely.
