The Tennessee Titans are going all-in on Cam Ward. After years of disappointment and three straight last-place finishes in the AFC South, the Titans appear to be coming out of their rebuild in full force. It was a very aggressive offseason for Tennessee as they look to set Ward up for success, surrounding their young quarterback with a combination of veteran talents and other rising stars. Have the Titans found the right formula to get back in playoff contention, or will it be a fourth straight season in the basement of their division?

Tennessee Titans Offseason Recap

The Titans were extremely aggressive in the offseason, with only 23 players appearing on both their 53-man rosters in 2025 and 2026. Eight of those names were also rookies last year, meaning the Titans have very little veteran talent that has stuck around in Tennessee. 

The Titans kicked things off by hiring Robert Saleh as the team's new permanent head coach in late January. Saleh is a strong, defensive-minded coach who has had a mixed bag of success in his career. He was dealt a bad hand as the New York Jets head coach from 2021-2024, but got his career back on track as the defensive coordinator for the 49ers last year. Saleh will have lots of young talent to work with in Tennessee, and could be the guiding hand this organization needs as they look to write the next chapter. 

On the field, the Titans lost key names on defense, but considering they had the 30th-ranked unit last year, things needed to change. T’Vondre Sweat was traded for Jermaine Johnson II in a one-for-one swap with the Jets, one of the bigger moves of the offseason for Tennessee. Johnson II is a clear upgrade over Sweat, and the trade was pulled off largely due to the discrepancy in contract sizes. Johnson II reunites with Saleh and will be a Week 1 starter for Tennessee. He gives the Titans some pass rushing they desperately need, and will pair nicely with consistent performer Jeffery Simmons. 

Elsewhere on defense, the Titans lost Arden Key, L’Jarius Sneed, and Xavier Woods. However, they scooped up Keldric Faulk with the 31st overall pick in the draft to play edge, and have new faces all over the field. Alontae Taylor and Cor’Dale Flott are both established corners that should give the Titans some secondary stability, while John Franklin-Myers and Jordan Elliott are also pegged to start on the defensive line this season. This Titans defense was in desperate need of a fresh start, and they got exactly that this offseason. 

On offense, the Titans gave Cam Ward new weapons to play with. Wan’Dale Robinson was their biggest veteran addition, as he erupted for more than 1,000 yards last year with the Giants despite inconsistent quarterback play. Robinson has shown off his upside, and now has the chance to establish himself as a legitimate WR1 in this league. His straight-line speed combined with incredible agility makes him impossible to shut down, which makes him the perfect high-volume slot receiver the Titans have been craving. 

Robinson is not the only high-profile pass catcher joining this roster, as the Titans made Carnell Tate the first receiver off the board with the fourth overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft. Tate averaged more than 79 yards per game last year with Ohio State, scoring nine touchdowns in 11 games. He is the type of receiver a quarterback loves that will win 50/50 balls down the field, consistently high-pointing the football with his elite hands. The Titans did lose Chig Okonkwo in the middle of the field, the team leader in receiving yards last year, but they still undoubtedly got better when this pair of receivers joined Calvin Ridley in Tennessee. 

2026 Tennessee Titans Season Expectations

The primary expectation for the Titans is to improve on their 3-14 records from each of the last two seasons. The Titans have turned into the laughing stock of the league over the last few years, but things could be changing in Tennessee. Cam Ward showed flashes of brilliance last season despite getting very little help on either side of the ball. He now has a season of NFL experience under his belt, reliable targets to aim at, and a better defense on the other side of the ball. This is the season where the Titans find out if Cam Ward is the quarterback of their future, and after cutting backup Will Levis, they are all-in on Ward. Ward can extend plays with his creative passing and mobility, but the Titans need him to find more accuracy from inside the pocket. Only then will they start to win games, something the franchise has been desperately craving. 

The Titans' offense was far from amazing last year, struggling both on the ground and through the air, but they made the tweaks they needed and should be a middle-of-the-pack unit at the very least. On defense, there is a lot more up in the air. More than half of the roster has flipped over from last year, including a handful of starters. The Titans were able to stop the run with the fourth-fewest rushing yards allowed last season despite trailing for long stretches, but got torched in the pass game. Alontae Taylor at corner is arguably the Titans' biggest defensive addition, and this team could get scary if they take away the deep ball. Overall, the Titans are a difficult team to get a definitive pulse on with all the roster turnover, but could be one of the sleepers to watch this year. 

2026 Tennessee Titans Schedule Breakdown

The Tennessee Titans have a slightly easier-than-average schedule this year. They have the 13th-easiest schedule based on 2026 projected win totals, and the eighth-easiest schedule based on last year’s records. The AFC South is starting to pick up some steam with the Texans and Jaguars both making the playoffs last year, but the rest of the Titans' schedule is straightforward. They have to go through the NFC East and AFC North, with their three extra games against other fourth-place teams coming against the Jets, Raiders, and Lions. They open up the season with a winnable home game against the Jets, which will set the tone for how this year will pan out. 

2026 Tennessee Titans Betting Odds

The Tennessee Titans are expected to win 6.5 games this year, with +100 odds available on the over. That is unlikely to translate into a playoff berth, as they have +850 odds to win the AFC South and +375 odds to make the playoffs. They have sky-high +12500 odds to win the Super Bowl with +5500 odds to win the AFC. On the other end of the spectrum, the Titans have +1800 odds to finish with the worst record in the NFL and -110 odds to finish at the bottom of the AFC South. 

In terms of individual awards, the Titans have a couple of contenders. Carnell Tate has +550 odds to win Offensive Rookie of the Year, and is the second-favorite behind Jerimiyah Love. Tate plays a skill position on offense, and a wide-open receiver room could allow him to rack up numbers. Robert Saleh is fourth in Coach of the Year odds with a +1200 price tag available, as he will get plenty of credit for a strong Titans season. 

2026 Tennessee Titans Season Predictions and Best Bets

The Titans have been abysmal over the last few years with back-to-back 3-14 records, but the oddsmakers are expecting a steep improvement with a 6.5 win total. I wish we were getting a slightly better price on the Titans, as I also expect them to do much better, but we will still take what is offered. Tennessee has a promising quarterback who now has NFL experience; they have surrounded him with talent on offense, and they have a new-look defense that retained their best pieces while adding proven stars. A soft schedule and minimal pressure to perform will also help them get over the line, and I am calling for them to finish either 8-9 or 9-8 this season. 

For the first pick, we will keep it simple by taking the Titans to go over 6.5 wins at +100 odds. This is offered at the plus-money price I crave on season-long picks. And while it will require them to secure more wins than in 2024 and 2025 combined, they have the personnel to do so. 

For the second pick, I like the value on Tennessee to finish third in the AFC South at +240 odds. I expect good things from the Texans and Jaguars, but the Colts still have plenty to prove. It should be a tight race at the bottom between the Titans and Colts, and these odds have been inflated by recency bias. The talent gap between the Colts and Titans is far closer than the odds suggest, and a strong draft class from the Titans will give them the edge.
