College Football Picks: Troy vs. Middle Tennessee State Betting Odds and Predictions
by Aaron Smith - 10/5/2010
Troy and Middle Tennessee State will square off in the first Tuesday night ESPN2 college football game this season. These Sun Belt rivals have been battling it out for the league title the last few years, and it has been Troy who has been coming out on top each year of late. The Trojans of Troy have won four straight Sun Belt championships and they are now in search of their fifth. Middle Tennessee State has their star quarterback returning to the lineup for this one, and the Blue Raiders realize this game is a must win for them if they want to wrestle away the Sun Belt crown.
College Football Predictions: UAB at Central Florida Odds and Preview
by Alan Matthews - 10/5/2010
This opened at 12 at most books and is at 13 now at most of them. The total has jumped about a point at most books. UAB is 2-2 ATS this season and has covered in its past two games, a 34-33 win over a Troy team that is the four-time reigning Sun Belt Conference champion and then a 32-29 double-overtime loss at Tennessee on Sept. 25. UCF is 3-1 ATS, with the lone loss coming at home to North Carolina State. Last time out UCF lost, 17-13, at Kansas State in a game it deserved to win.
Free College Football Picks: Louisiana Tech at Hawaii Betting Odds and Predictions
by Alan Matthews - 10/2/2010
So why are we offering free college football picks for a seemingly meaningless Western Athletic Conference game between Louisiana Tech and Hawaii, two teams who aren’t even WAC contenders, here at Doc’s Sports? Any sportsbook will tell you that Hawaii home games get an inordinate number of bets considering the quality of the team (post-June Junes especially) because it’s the last game of the night on the board. So there you go.
Week 5 College Football Picks and Odds
by T.O. Whenham - 10/2/2010
Last week’s college football picks went well - Stanford beat up on Notre Dame, and Oregon State stuck closer to Boise State than the spread. With our week 5 college football picks and odds let’s hope we can continue the success.
College Football Picks: Florida Vs. Alabama Betting Odds and Predictions
by Robert Ferringo - 10/2/2010
This Saturday, No. 7 Florida heads to Tuscaloosa to take on No. 1 Alabama in the marquee game in the top college football conference in the country. Kickoff is set for 8 p.m. and the winner will become the favorite to take the SEC crown and represent the league in the BCS National Championship Game.
College Football Picks: BYU vs. Utah State Betting Odds and Predictions
by Aaron Smith - 10/1/2010
This Friday night ESPN will be in Utah for the intrastate battle between BYU and Utah State. Both teams head into this game at 1-3, but you can bet that this will be a very spirited battle. BYU has lost three straight games, and they haven’t lost four straight in a season since 17 years ago, when Utah State beat them, 58-56, in Logan. The teams meet once again on the campus of Utah State in what should be considered a chance for both teams to get their seasons turned around.
College Football Picks: Texas Vs. Oklahoma Betting Odds and Predictions
by Robert Ferringo - 9/30/2010
This weekend No. 8 Oklahoma faces off with No. 16 Texas in this critical clash. The Sooners are small favorites in this game, which kicks off at 3:30 p.m. Saturday in the Cotton Bowl. The winner of this game will establish itself as the Top Dog in the Big 12 and give itself the inside track to the conference championship game. Much like with the SEC, the Big 12 title game has been a virtual playoff game, with the victor rolling into the BCS National Championship.
College Football Picks: Texas A&M at Oklahoma State Betting Odds and Predictions
by Alan Matthews - 9/30/2010
There are 25 Division I-A teams remaining with unbeaten records, and ESPN’s Thursday night game this week features two of them in Big 12 South foes Texas A&M and Oklahoma State – yet neither club is ranked in the AP poll (OSU is No. 24 in the USA Today poll).
College Football Predictions: Oregon at Arizona State Odds and Betting Picks
by Alan Matthews - 9/25/2010
The last game of Saturday night that you can bet on – sorry Charleston Southern at Hawaii – is this Pac-10 opener between Oregon and Arizona State. And, frankly, this doesn’t shape up to be much of a game if the Ducks keep up their ridiculous pace.
College Football Predictions and Picks: TCU vs. SMU Betting Odds
by Aaron Smith - 9/24/2010
ESPN will be in Dallas on Friday night for the Battle of the Iron Skillet between the TCU Horned Frogs and the SMU Mustangs. A few years ago this rivalry didn’t mean much to anyone outside of the Lone Star State, but it definitely does now. TCU is ranked No. 5 in the nation, and SMU is improving in a big way under former Hawaii Coach June Jones.
Week 4 College Football Picks and Odds
by T.O. Whenham - 9/24/2010
We have enjoyed three mostly brilliant and often surprising weeks of college football action so far. This is the perfect time, then, to look ahead to some week 4 college football picks and odds. With luck the picks will be brilliant:
College Football Predictions: Miami at Pitt Odds for Betting and Picks
by Alan Matthews - 9/23/2010
An old Big East rivalry is renewed for the first time since Miami left for the ACC when the No. 19 Hurricanes visit Pitt on Thursday night. And really both teams – and both struggling conferences – could use a nice nonconference win such as this one.
College Football Predictions and Picks: Arkansas at Georgia Betting Odds
by Robert Ferringo - 9/17/2010
For the second weekend in a row Georgia is playing a potentially season-defining SEC game. While most of their conference contemporaries are still beating up Division II schools or teams from the Sun Belt, Georgia is neck-deep in league games and is facing a put-up-or-shut-up moment between the hedges.
Week 3 College Football Picks and Odds
by T.O. Whenham - 9/17/2010
Week 2 in college football brought forth plenty of upsets and some major beat downs from high-profile favorites, but now it is time to turn our attention to some Week 3 college football picks and odds. This week we will concentrate on two games, the Connecticut Huskies at Temple Owls and the Air Force Falcons at Oklahoma Sooners.
College Football Predictions: Teams With Great Betting Value
by T.O. Whenham - 9/17/2010
It’s just two weeks into the season in college football, but we are already starting to get a handle on which teams are good and which ones aren’t - at least in the bigger conferences. Inevitably, though, there are teams out there that are better than people give them credit for because they don’t get a whole lot of attention. Here’s a look at five teams that should treat bettors pretty well this year and aren’t yet getting the credit they deserve.
College Football Predictions and Picks: Cal vs. Nevada Betting Odds
by Aaron Smith - 9/17/2010
The Friday late night ESPN showcase will feature the Cal Golden Bears and the Nevada Wolf Pack this week. Both teams were humbled at the end of last season, but both are contenders in their conference this year. California finished last year on a sour note with losses to Washington and Utah, but the Golden Bears have started out 2010 with some nice play. The Wolf Pack of Nevada were blown out by SMU in the bowl game last year, but they have started 2-0 in 2010. This battle in Reno should be an exciting matchup between two offenses that look absolutely dominating this year. California is looking to prove they are for real this year, while Nevada is out to prove they can win a big game on a national stage
Michigan Wolverines Predictions With Denard Robinson
by T.O. Whenham - 9/16/2010
There is as much buzz around Michigan football now as there has been for years, and for once it’s actually positive. People aren’t talking about humiliating upsets, missing bowls for the first time in decades, NCAA violations, recruits leaving the school, or coaches on hot seats. Instead, they are talking about a team that has looked surprisingly good led by the most exciting player in the country so far.
College Football Predictions and Picks: Cincinnati at NC State Betting Odds
by Alan Matthews - 9/16/2010
It’s not exactly the best matchup on ESPN’s Thursday night football this week as unranked N.C. State (2-0) hosts Cincinnati (1-1). And both conferences could use a win as the Bearcats’ Big East is down to just two schools still without a loss after just two weeks and the Wolfpack’s ACC’s was fairly humiliated by the outings of conference teams like Florida State and Georgia Tech last week. All five ACC teams that started the season ranked among the AP Top 25 have already suffered at least one loss. Virginia Tech, the preseason favorite to win the league, already has two.
Doc's Fourth Down And Inches
by Doc - 9/14/2010
Each year I like to look ahead in the Big Ten Conference and find a setup that is favorable and unfavorable for each team. Here is what I have found for the 2010 Big Ten Conference season. I have ranked the teams in the order I believe that they will finish.
College Football Predictions and Picks: Stanford at UCLA Betting Odds
by Alan Matthews - 9/11/2010
UCLA was supposed to be a sleeper team in Rick Neuheisel’s second season as head coach, but the Bruins didn’t look very good last week in a 31-22 loss at Kansas State. The Bruins' rebuilt front seven surrendered 313 yards rushing to the Wildcats. And on offense, QB Kevin Prince completed just 9-of-26 passes for 120 yards with two interceptions. If there was one bright spot it was that Bruins kicker UCLA's Kai Forbath kicked three field goals and ran his streak to 40 in a row from inside 50 yards.
