2024 NFL Draft Over/Under Best Bets by Position
The NFL Draft is less than three days away, and we can say goodbye to mock drafts and start to get excited about our favorite team’s respective selections. As we inch closer to the first round on Thursday night, the more and more betting markets open on various sportsbooks. One market worth diving into that can have value and be fun to wager on is the over/under options at various positions that will be taken in the first round. Doc’s Sports will break down some of the best positions to see if we can find value on the offensive and defensive side of the ball.

Total Quarterbacks Selected in 1st Round Over/Under 4.5
Caleb Williams, Jayden Daniels, and Drake Maye are pretty much a guaranteed to go 1-2-3 in the draft… and then we wait. There are multiple teams that could trade up into the top-5 for a QB and take J.J. McCarthy. Both the Vikings and Broncos are in desperate need of better QB play in 2024. Those four names should be called on Thursday night, and then it depends if an organization will take Bo Nix or Michael Penix Jr. with their first selection. I am not buying the 1st round hype for these two, as last year Will Levis received the same treatment and fell into Day 2. Why trade up or use a first-rounder on those two guys when they can be nabbed on Friday at the top of Day 2? I will take a stab at the under for plus money.
Pick: Under 4.5 +160
Total Offensive Linemen Selected in 1st Round O/U 9.5
The most bountiful position in the first round is along the offensive line. The line is set 9.5 players, which is the highest total out of any position. Notre Dame’s Joe Alt, Oregon State’s Taliese Fuaga, Alabama’s JC Latham, Washington’s Troy Fautanu, Penn State’s Olumuyiwa Fashanu, Georgia’s Amarius Mims, and Oregon’s Jackson Powers-Johnson should all be selected on opening night in Detroit. NFL organizations realize more and more that you cannot win a Super Bowl without stelar offensive line play. That positional importance might cause a second wave of OL to be selected in the mid to late 20s, which is where this O/U will be determined.
Pick: Under 9.5 +165
Total Wide Receivers Selected in 1st Round O/U 6.5
This draft is loaded at the wide receiver position, with Marvin Harrison Jr., Malik Nabers, and Rome Odunze expected to be taken inside the top-10. Brian Thomas from LSU is also locked in as a Thursday selection. There are also a ton of teams that need to position to fill in holes on the offense. The Cardinals, Chargers, Panthers, Steelers, Bengals, Bills, Ravens, Lions, and Giants all need help at the position. Who's to say the Chiefs do not add another weapon to Patrick Mahomes arsenal? Adonai Mitchell and Xavier Worthy are two popular names for later in the first round. The WR position is one that teams may be more inclined to take on Day 1, as the fifth-year option for first round picks helps teams maintain the cost of a pass-catcher.
Pick: OVER 6.5 +180
Total Cornerbacks Selected in 1st Round O/U 5.5
The cornerback position has a few strong options in the first round, but I am not so certain it clears this over/under. Terrion Arnold is the headliner of this group, followed by Cooper DeJean and Quinyon Mitchell. These guys are locks for the first round of Thursday’s draft. Other popular CB prospects are Kool-Aid McKinstry and Nate Wiggins that have been linked inside the top-32. A lot of analysts have Ennis Rakestraw Jr. right on the bubble as a late Day 1 or early Day 2 selection. A light sprinkle on the over has value in the event that teams select a bunch of CBs at the tail end of the first round. If you can find an O/U total of 4.5, jump on the over.
Pick: Over 5.5 +300
Total Defensive Linemen and Edges Selected in 1st Round O/U 6.5
With no linebackers projected to go Day 1 this year, the defensive line is a prop that should be targeted. The headlining names to watch out for are Dallas Turner, Byron Murphy, and Laiatu Latu. All three guys are projected top-20 picks. The second tier of guys that are linked to the first round are Jared Verse and Chop Robinson. That gives us five guys that should be guaranteed, and it seems like organizations are up in the air on any others landing in the top-32. If you can find an under 5.5 for value, that would be the ideal move with this positional group. If not, under 6.5 is still the play and can be used as a parlay piece.
Under 6.5 -250
