Last week’s basic strategy teaser pick was about as dominant and easy money as one can expect from a (-120) betting ticket. We had a basic strategy teaser ticket with the Philadelphia Eagles at (+8.5) and the Detroit Lions at only (-2.5).

Wait, but weren't the Eagles just (+2.5) and Detroit all the way up at (-8.5)? Well, the line shifted by kickoff, but those were the betting odds about mid-week.

Philadelphia won by 7. So, we covered that game by 10 points. Detroit was even easier. They got their revenge, kinda, on the Washington Commanders 44-22, which means they covered by nearly 20 points.

Teasing NFL games can be one of the most profitable plays you make over time. Yes, that's a parlay, but as you can see, we can alter the betting line.

What is a Teaser?

A teaser is a type of parlay wager in which the bettor can manipulate the odds in their favor. The number of points you can use for each leg varies, as does the number of legs you want to add to your teaser.

This means it can get overwhelming and, worse, overly tempting. Once you see that you can add points to a spread, your confidence will soar, especially if you already feel good about a pick.

Then, when you see the payout as you add the legs, it's easier for the weakling in your mind to speak louder. It's better to approach a teaser bet with a basic strategy already in place.

What is a Basic Strategy Teaser?

The basic strategy here is only to use 6-point teasers and keep all of your teasers to two legs. That's simple, right? Okay, from there, we tease through the key numbers of 3 and 7.

A key number is a likely margin of victory. The likeliest in any NFL game is 3 followed by 7.

We want both of those in our spread.

To tease an underdog up, we look for teams with betting odds of (+1.5) to (+2.5), and after giving them 6 points, we now have dogs above a touchdown at (+7.5) to (+8.5). 

Inversely, if we want to tease a betting favorite down, we take teams with odds of (-7.5) to (-8.5) and tease them down below a field goal to (-1.5) to (-2.5).

It worked perfectly last week. Let’s see if we can get another win!

Potential Week 11 NFL Teaser Games

Washington Commanders (+2.5) vs Miami Dolphins (-2.5) Total: 47.5

We are looking at the Commanders' side here, and right away, this is a team I cannot get behind. The Miami Dolphins used to be that team a month ago, but not anymore. They aren't doing much, but that's still a lot better than Washington right now.

Los Angeles Chargers (-2.5) at Jacksonville Jaguars (+2.5) Total: 43

These betting odds really surprised me. When I saw the 2.5, I thought the home Jaguars might have been catching that. I quickly felt stupid, though, seeing it was the visiting Chargers who are the favs here.

The defense is firing right now, but their offensive line is in shambles. The Chargers have been winning, but against weak competition, and the Jags have been all over the place.

They let the Texans make one of the most improbable comebacks of the year against them last week.

They are 3-2 at home, though, with a win over the Chiefs and losses to potentially the two best teams in football, the Rams and Seahawks.

We have a low total here, which helps. I like the Jags to win outright potentially.

Baltimore Ravens (-7.5) at Cleveland Browns (+7.5) Total: 39.5

This is almost an auto-play. I know the Browns are better at home, and this is a division rivalry, but we have Dillon Gabriel vs Lamar Jackson.

That’s all we need.

Detroit Lions (+2.5) at Philadelphia Eagles (-2.5) Total: 46.5

Do we want the road dogs up to (+8.5)? When this team loses to strong defenses on the road, they lose big. It was 13 points against the Chiefs, and they fell to the Pack by two touchdowns.
