Best NFL Teaser Bets Week 7: Basic Strategy Teasers Advice

Week 6 of the NFL season came with more than a few twists, between last-second field goals, a handful of upsets and a starting quarterback suffering a season-ending injury, and it all wrecked plenty of betting slips along the way. Arizona stunned the Rams as 12.5-point underdogs, Houston beat Jacksonville in London, practically the Jaguars’ second home, and Cleveland took down Baltimore.
When this many games come down to the final snap, a few extra points on the spread go a long way. Coming into Week 7, there are only three games that fit the basic strategy criteria, and below is the breakdown of each one along with the best two-team combo for the weekend. Let’s check it out.
Doc’s Sports offers NFL expert picks for every game on our NFL predictions page.
What is a Teaser?
A teaser gives bettors a head start on the spread in exchange for a smaller payout. Two or more games go on a single ticket, like a parlay, and every line shifts a set number of points in the bettor’s favor, with six being the most common. All the games still have to cover for the ticket to cash.
What is a Basic Strategy Teaser?
In simple terms, a basic strategy teaser is about squeezing the most out of those six points. NFL games tend to end with a three- or seven-point margin more often than any other result, so the goal is to tease spreads that move through both numbers. Anything that falls short of either one doesn’t qualify.
For example, take Team A as a 2.5-point underdog. Six extra points turns that into +8.5, meaning Team A can lose by a field goal or a touchdown and the ticket can still be a winner. Team B, an 8.5-point favorite, drops to -2.5 after the tease and just needs to win by a field goal. That’s why the qualifying range sits at +1.5 to +2.5 for underdogs and -7.5 to -8.5 for favorites.
One more thing before placing anything. Two-team, six-point teasers typically cost between -110 and -120, and once the price climbs past -120, most of the advantage is gone. So, always make sure to check the price and odds before locking anything in.
Potential Week 7 NFL Teaser Games
Chiefs (+2.5) at Seahawks (-2.5) Total: 42.5
A perfect 5-0 start has Kansas City heading into Seattle to face a Seahawks team that has covered just once all season. Kenneth Walker ran for 128 yards and two touchdowns in last week’s win over the Chargers.
Seattle’s defense leads the league, allowing just 237 yards per game, but the Chiefs’ offense is in rhythm, and that’s a tough matchup for any team. I’m comfortable with the Chiefs +8.5, and you should be also.
Browns (-1.5) at Titans (+1.5) Total: 37.5
Close, ugly games have become Cleveland’s specialty, and with the total at 37.5, the lowest of the season, everything points to another sloppy game. None of the Browns’ last four games were decided by more than five points, and their defense ranks eighth in fewest passing yards allowed.
Taking the Titans +7.5 might look tempting, but Tennessee has one win all season, and I’d be wary of putting them on a ticket, no matter the handicap.
Bengals (+2.5) at Ravens (-2.5) Total: 50.5
Rested after a bye week, Cincinnati walks into a division game against a Ravens team still waiting on word about Lamar Jackson’s ankle. Baltimore has covered just twice in six games this season, while the Bengals beat Miami 31-24 in their last game before the break.
With a 50.5 total, this one could turn into a shootout, and six extra points don’t go as far when both teams are scoring. Bengals +8.5 works better as a backup option, but if Jackson is ruled out again, Cincinnati is the clear choice.
