Best NFL Teaser Bets Week 8: Basic Strategy Teasers Advice

Records looked pretty meaningless in Week 7, and plenty of bettors paid the price for trusting them. Seattle dominated Kansas City 20-3, handing the Chiefs their first loss of the season. Cincinnati walked into Baltimore trailing 13-0 at halftime and still won by 22 after scoring 35 straight points, and somehow the Dolphins picked up their first win against the Jets. This may have been the toughest week yet for bettors, but that can all change going into Week 8 with teasers.
A season this unpredictable makes teasers a lot more useful than trying to pick winners outright on the spread. We have a bit of a shorter list this week, with just three Week 8 games fitting the basic strategy criteria, and I’ve got the breakdown on each one, plus the two-team combo that may just be the winner you need before Monday Night Football rolls around.

What is a Teaser?
The best way to explain a teaser is to simply picture a parlay where the bettor gets to move the spread around. A teaser, similar to a parlay, groups two or more games on one ticket and adjusts every spread by a set number of points, with six being the standard. The extra breathing room cuts into the payout, and one miss still sinks the whole ticket.
What is a Basic Strategy Teaser?
Let’s clear this out of the way first: not every game is worth teasing. Basic strategy teasers only target spreads that move through 3 and 7, which happen to be the two margins NFL games land on most often, since crossing both protects against the most common final results.
Say Team A is a 1.5-point underdog. Teased to +7.5, Team A can lose by a field goal or a touchdown and still cover. Team B, a 7.5-point favorite, drops to -1.5 and simply has to win. Underdogs from +1.5 to +2.5 and favorites from -7.5 to -8.5 are the only spreads that qualify.
Always make sure to check the odds and price. Price matters before anything gets placed. A two-team, six-point teaser should cost somewhere around -110 to -120, and paying more than that wipes out the edge.
Potential Week 8 NFL Teaser Games
Raiders (+1.5) at Jets (-1.5) Total: 45.5
A four-game losing streak isn’t the spot any team wants to be in, and the Raiders are deep in it. The Jets aren’t much better at 2-5, but their pass defense ranks among the league’s best at 187 yards allowed per game, which is a problem for a Las Vegas offense that leans heavily on the pass. Given how the Raiders have played lately, Raiders +7.5 isn’t a tease I’d be quick to back.
Falcons (+2.5) at Buccaneers (-2.5) Total: 45.5
A healthy Baker Mayfield has Tampa Bay’s offense looking completely different, and they’re fresh off a 43-13 win over Carolina. However, matching up with an Atlanta team that just took down San Francisco could be a test they aren’t ready for yet.
Between a red-hot offense and a solid run defense through seven weeks, I’m comfortable grabbing the Falcons at +8.5. A two-possession head start in a division game this tight makes it one of the stronger options this week.
Chiefs (-1.5) at Broncos (+1.5) Total: 41.5
Some grudges take a while to settle, and the Broncos have been waiting since Week 1 to pay Kansas City back for a 31-10 beating in the opener. A three-game winning streak is on the line, and Denver’s defense has allowed just 20 points per game since that loss.
A 41.5 total keeps this one tight on paper, and Broncos +7.5 at home against a Chiefs team coming off a humbling loss could be the best option of the week.
