NBA Picks
The NBA is considered by many to be the best league for sports betting. Yes, the NFL is king in terms of popularity and wagering volume per game but nothing beats NBA basketball over the course of a season. Why? There are many opportunities to make NBA picks every night. NBA lines move more often and are not as sharp as football lines which are under the microscope all week. NBA odds have a much shorter lifespan meaning there are greater opportunities to find value. That gives Doc's basketball handicappers exponentially more opportunities to offer daily free NBA picks and be even more selective when offering expert NBA picks.
Free NBA Picks and Expert Predictions
You can find Free NBA picks throughout the Doc's Sports network including this free NBA predictions page; on our Doc's NBA Experts page; and on the Youtube channels of our expert NBA handicappers. We now also have a very popular NBA video section that is updated daily with several videos during the NBA season. Check the video link on the top navigation. Those ready to take advantage of our Free $60 in member selections can click the button at the top of this page and start receiving free expert predictions.
Get your NBA Picks Today, and Everyday!
Doc's offers expert NBA picks today and every day of the NBA season! Sure, there are the days when the NBA card consists of only tanking teams competing for the right to draft the next Zion Williamson. These teams are bad and their competition for an audience is Seinfeld reruns or maybe getting an extra hour of sleep. At Doc's we don't see this as trash basketball, we see this as a huge opportunity to make money...on trash basketball. Each day during the basketball season is an opportunity to make valuable and profitable predictions
What are NBA Picks Against the Spread?
Most NBA bettors are going to make NBA picks against the spread. This is also known as NBA picks ATS. Sportsbooks give each NBA team a handicap of X amount of points. That means if books think the Lakers are 4 points better than the Celtics they will offer a line of Lakers -4. If a Doc's handicapper has reason to believe the Lakers are much more than 4 points better, his pick against the spread would be to take the Lakers -4. This is how all bets on the spread work unless bookmakers consider both teams to be evenly matched, in which case the line is a pick, AKA pick'em. At Doc's the majority of our NBA selections are against the spread. However, there can be outstanding value on betting NBA totals.
What are NBA Over/Under Picks?
The pace of the game, as well as which team dictates the pace, is a key factor when handicapping basketball games. When pace is an especially strong signal, it may dictate a pick on the over/under. An NBA over/under pick is another way of referring to a prediction on an NBA game point total. NBA total lines are usually well above 200 in today's NBA making them harder for the betting public to find value. For example, the 2004 Detroit Pistons team was very consistently within 5 points of the 90 they averaged. In today's NBA, greater scoring means greater variance. However, professional basketball handicappers can use this to their advantage as the sportsbooks also try to keep track of the higher scoring NBA totals. Doc's sports NBA total picks are some of the best in the business and our total prediction write-ups are insightful. Along with offering our NBA expert picks, we provide free selections that are intended to help bettors with their handicapping legwork.
What are NBA Parlay Picks?
Parlay picks are sucker bets they say! Never bet and NBA parlay they say! Bettors that speak in these absolutes clearly haven't learned how to find value betting basketball. Sure, the payout on parlays at most sportsbooks have gone down to the point where putting two of your picks together for the sake of winning more is not a good investment. But what if your parlay picks could be made on the same game? That is called a correlated NBA parlay. Many sportsbooks offer the ability to make NBA bets against the spread and total in the same game. So if you have a great read on a game and expect one team to quit and fall behind, you may decide to make an NBA parlay prediction. At Doc's our experts will offer a free parlay pick in rare cases. It is not common because we need to find value for our customers on both lines before they move. If our parlay prediction is indeed on the same game, we need to confirm there is value regardless of the fact that you can't line shop the odds on a parlay. Both bets in a parlay must be made at the same sportsbook. If there is a free selection on the total over of -14 and under 200 it was offered knowing that those lines can be found at most Las Vegas sportsbooks and online.
What are NBA Playoff Predictions?
Once the regular season is over the NBA tends to resemble the national football league in many ways. Bettors have much more time to make their NBA playoff picks as teams travel to each other's arenas and rest between series. Making successful NBA playoff predictions is as much about when you bet as it is who you bet on. A series might not start for days. That means an NBA spread may move quite a few points especially as the public bets closer to the action. If we see value in a playoff prediction it will rely heavily on getting the line we are quoting in said NBA pick. In the words of the great Tony George, "We are betting numbers, not teams!" That may not be more relevant than when making picks on the NBA playoff games.

4-Unit Play Take Philadelphia -5.5 over LA Clippers (7 p.m. EST, Monday November 17)
The Clippers are on a back-to-back and they expended a bunch of energy in the second half against Boston on Sunday and they fell up short in their big comeback. Kudos to them for not giving up, and for cashing our ticket on them to cover. But this team just looks very old overall and we don’t see them giving the effort to keep this one close after that game yesterday. Philly has some players out, but they have been one of the best bets in the NBA this season and they are always underrated by the oddsmakers. We were going to take them with anything under the key NBA number of 7, and the odds worked out perfectly. Kawhi Leonard remains day to day for LA, and they are so secretive about injuries, but we very much doubt he plays any time soon much less tonight.
Best of Luck – Doc’s Sports

2-Unit Play. Take #557 Dallas (+14.5) Over Minnesota (8 p.m., Monday, November 17)
The Mavs have been playing much better the last few games, but losing 3 of last 4 allows us to get great value on Dallas. Only reason this isn’t stronger play is Dallas is in back to back after winning last night against Portland. Minnesota gets the win but just too many point to cover, take Dallas to cover the spread.

4-Unit Play. Take #546 Philadelphia (-5.5) vs LA Clippers (7:10 p.m., Mon, Nov. 17)
Great scheduling edge for Philly to roll at home here. Even with Embiid out and George still uncertain about making his season debut, the Sixers have plenty of firepower to knock off a road-weary Clippers side. LA was at Dallas Friday night and that game went to double OT and then Sunday they lost at Boston. So this is the 3rd game in 4 days for the Clips plus a B2B plus the Friday game had multiple overtimes. The Clippers are simply not a good basketball team right now. They are on a 2-8 run and the only two wins were over the Pelicans and Mavericks. Not only are those teams a combined 6-21 this season, the Clips won one game by just 2 points and the other one required double OT for the victory. LA is 1-4 on the road this season and 0-3 against Eastern Conference teams. The 76ers are 4-2 at home this season and off a loss at Detroit. They'll bounce back here as they are also 3-1 when off a loss this season. The Clippers have been without Kawhi Leonard and he might miss again here plus Derrick Jones got hurt Sunday and might miss this one. Either way I look for the Sixers to get it done in a big way here at home on Monday. 4* PHILADELPHIA -5.5

3-Unit Play. #552. Take Miami Heat -125 Money-Line over New York Knicks (Monday @ 7:30pm est)
We are on a 10-3 run here in the NBA and of course have a 7*CBB Selection today as we are 8-4 to start the CBB Season for +1460. We love that Miami lost to this team just the game prior. Remember, they lost by a score of 132-140 and we like that the Heat gave up 140 points to this team. They will bounce-back on defense. Miami has not lost back to back games all year and hasn't lost 3 in a row definitely all year so their radar will be high, coming off a loss and that too to the very team they play again today and that too on top of that with giving up 140 points last game. This is the same team that dropped 140 on the Cavs, Miami is the same team that lost by 17 to the Magic, the Heat run 9 deep and we love the Heat here.

Take #552 Miami ML (-125) Over New York
7:40 EST
Back to Back - Home and Home Series. New York won the last one but are down Brunson - Anunoby - and possibly McBride in this one against Miami. Bad News for NY is this is their first road game since 10/31 and they are 0-3 SU / ATS on the road YTD.
Short handed playing a team on a strong home floor with a better coach and despite some setbacks as of late, Miami's offense is clicking. I think they exact some revenge here at home against a short handed NY team, and while NY has some depth, I like the Heat to get a win here at home where they are 5-1, and I expect them to strap it down on defense in this second game. Line is -1.5 / so I played the ML here.

6-Unit Play: #552 Miami -1.5-110 over New York (Monday, November 17, 2025, 7:40pm ET)
Take Miami ATS as my top NBA pick for Monday night. This pick falls into one of my top NBA systems and I really like Miami in this spot at home. This is an immediate revenge spot for Miami who lost at New York by eight points back on November 14th putting up 132 points. I do expect Miami to step up defensively at home and they do come into this game hungry having dropped two straight games. Miami has won three of their last four home games overall including a game against a good Cleveland and Portland team as 3.5-point underdogs and 7.5-point underdogs. Opponents have shot just 43.8% against Miami overall this season including 32.7% from beyond the arc which ranks third defensively in the NBA. Play Miami ATS

4-Unit Play: Take 548 Pistons -9.5 over Pacers (7:10 p.m., Monday, Nov. 17)
The Pacers are a hard luck team, losing Haliburton in the Finals in June and suffering more injuries since. Detroit’s Cade Cunningham is questionable but the Pistons had no problem winning and covering their last two games without him. Detroit’s taking care of business at home and they’re on a 26-8 run against teams that allow at least 116 ppg. Indiana allows 123 ppg. And while that’s a SU record, I doubt they have much trouble covering tonight. The Pacers have lost six in a row ATS including as a 13-point dog at Golden State. I’m laying the points with the Pistons. Thanks & GL! Scott Spreitzer.

2-Unit Play - (556) Oklahoma City Thunder/New Orleans Pelicans u224.5 -110 (11/17 | 8:00PM EST) The under has cashed in two straight OKC games as their defense has locked in allowing below 100 points in both games. In fact, they haven't allowed more than 102 points in five-straight. The Pelicans are 2-11 SU and have no idea how they plan to sustain successful offense, at which point the Thunder will slow tempo in the 2H as we've seen at times this season. This number should be below 220 in our opinion.
Strike Point Sports
2-Unit Play. Take Under 239.5 Chicago at Denver (9:10 p.m., Monday, Nov. 17)
The Bulls come into this game on a back-to-back and they will be gassed. Denver knows their best effort isn't needed to win this game and they are playing their first home game after three road games in four days. The Nuggets head back out on the road to face New Orleans and Houston after tonight as well. This is a weird spot for both teams so I expect a low scoring game that the Nuggets win easily.

Monday November 17th 2025-
3 Unit Play Take #546 Philadelphia -5.5 over Los Angeles Clippers (7:10pm est):
Have to wonder how much gas the LA Clippers have in the tank for this one. LA is in the 2nd game of a back to back spot today after battling Boston to a 121-118 loss on Sunday. The Clippers are a mess right now having dropped 7 of their last 8 games overall. On the other side of things Philadelphia is off a tough loss last game against a red hot Detroit team but they also had the entire weekend off and should be well rested especially going up here against a Clippers team that's in a back to back spot.
Lay the number with Philadelphia in this one.
Thank you and good luck,
Jason Sharpe

2 Unit Play - Take #551 New York Knicks (+1.5) Over MIA Heat. (7:30p.m, Monday, November 17th)
New York comes into this game 8-4 on the year and 6-4 in their last 10 games after beating Miami at home Friday in a 140-132 final. Miami comes into this game 7-6 on the year, 5-5 in their last 10 games, and presently on a two-game losing streak. New York is the more potent team, and they are coming into this game with momentum. New York is going to look at this back-to-back set against Miami here tonight. Meanwhile, Miami has trended on the splits in back-to-back situations this season. We believe the public is going to get hung up on Miami’s 1-1 split with Cleveland and treat this situation the same way and back Miami tonight. We believe the Knicks are too potent, and they come in and win this game outright.

3 Unit – NBA Take #552 MIA Heats ML (-125) over NYK Knicks (7:30p.m, Monday November 17th)
Miami comes into this matchup on a two-game losing streak, most recently falling 140–132 to the Knicks on the road. Now they get the perfect revenge spot, facing that same Knicks team again but this time in Miami. This Heat offense is nothing like the slow, grind-it-out style we’re used to; they’re one of the highest-scoring teams in the league right now, putting up 125 points per game. It’s basically turned into a track meet every night, and I don’t think the Knicks can match that pace for four full quarters on the road. In a bounce-back spot at home with this explosive offense, I’m backing Miami to get it done. Take the Heat moneyline over the Knicks.

This number should be below 220 in our opinion.Strike Point Sports
2-Unit Play. Take Under 239.5 Chicago at Denver (9:10 p.m., Monday, Nov. 17)The Bulls come into this game on a back-to-back and they will be gassed. Denver knows their best effort isn't needed to win this game and they are playing their first home game after three road games in four days. The Nuggets head back out on the road to face New Orleans and Houston after tonight as well. This is a weird spot for both teams so I expect a low scoring game that the Nuggets win easily.

Monday November 17th 2025-3 Unit Play Take #546 Philadelphia -5.5 over Los Angeles Clippers (7:10pm est):

(7:30p.m, Monday, November 17th)New York comes into this game 8-4 on the year and 6-4 in their last 10 games after beating Miami at home Friday in a 140-132 final.

3 Unit – NBA Take #552 MIA Heats ML (-125) over NYK Knicks (7:30p.m, Monday November 17th)Miami comes into this matchup on a two-game losing streak, most recently falling 140–132 to the Knicks on the road.
