NBA Picks
The NBA is considered by many to be the best league for sports betting. Yes, the NFL is king in terms of popularity and wagering volume per game but nothing beats NBA basketball over the course of a season. Why? There are many opportunities to make NBA picks every night. NBA lines move more often and are not as sharp as football lines which are under the microscope all week. NBA odds have a much shorter lifespan meaning there are greater opportunities to find value. That gives Doc's basketball handicappers exponentially more opportunities to offer daily free NBA picks and be even more selective when offering expert NBA picks.
Free NBA Picks and Expert Predictions
You can find Free NBA picks throughout the Doc's Sports network including this free NBA predictions page; on our Doc's NBA Experts page; and on the Youtube channels of our expert NBA handicappers. We now also have a very popular NBA video section that is updated daily with several videos during the NBA season. Check the video link on the top navigation. Those ready to take advantage of our Free $60 in member selections can click the button at the top of this page and start receiving free expert predictions.
Get your NBA Picks Today, and Everyday!
Doc's offers expert NBA picks today and every day of the NBA season! Sure, there are the days when the NBA card consists of only tanking teams competing for the right to draft the next Zion Williamson. These teams are bad and their competition for an audience is Seinfeld reruns or maybe getting an extra hour of sleep. At Doc's we don't see this as trash basketball, we see this as a huge opportunity to make money...on trash basketball. Each day during the basketball season is an opportunity to make valuable and profitable predictions
What are NBA Picks Against the Spread?
Most NBA bettors are going to make NBA picks against the spread. This is also known as NBA picks ATS. Sportsbooks give each NBA team a handicap of X amount of points. That means if books think the Lakers are 4 points better than the Celtics they will offer a line of Lakers -4. If a Doc's handicapper has reason to believe the Lakers are much more than 4 points better, his pick against the spread would be to take the Lakers -4. This is how all bets on the spread work unless bookmakers consider both teams to be evenly matched, in which case the line is a pick, AKA pick'em. At Doc's the majority of our NBA selections are against the spread. However, there can be outstanding value on betting NBA totals.
What are NBA Over/Under Picks?
The pace of the game, as well as which team dictates the pace, is a key factor when handicapping basketball games. When pace is an especially strong signal, it may dictate a pick on the over/under. An NBA over/under pick is another way of referring to a prediction on an NBA game point total. NBA total lines are usually well above 200 in today's NBA making them harder for the betting public to find value. For example, the 2004 Detroit Pistons team was very consistently within 5 points of the 90 they averaged. In today's NBA, greater scoring means greater variance. However, professional basketball handicappers can use this to their advantage as the sportsbooks also try to keep track of the higher scoring NBA totals. Doc's sports NBA total picks are some of the best in the business and our total prediction write-ups are insightful. Along with offering our NBA expert picks, we provide free selections that are intended to help bettors with their handicapping legwork.
What are NBA Parlay Picks?
Parlay picks are sucker bets they say! Never bet and NBA parlay they say! Bettors that speak in these absolutes clearly haven't learned how to find value betting basketball. Sure, the payout on parlays at most sportsbooks have gone down to the point where putting two of your picks together for the sake of winning more is not a good investment. But what if your parlay picks could be made on the same game? That is called a correlated NBA parlay. Many sportsbooks offer the ability to make NBA bets against the spread and total in the same game. So if you have a great read on a game and expect one team to quit and fall behind, you may decide to make an NBA parlay prediction. At Doc's our experts will offer a free parlay pick in rare cases. It is not common because we need to find value for our customers on both lines before they move. If our parlay prediction is indeed on the same game, we need to confirm there is value regardless of the fact that you can't line shop the odds on a parlay. Both bets in a parlay must be made at the same sportsbook. If there is a free selection on the total over of -14 and under 200 it was offered knowing that those lines can be found at most Las Vegas sportsbooks and online.
What are NBA Playoff Predictions?
Once the regular season is over the NBA tends to resemble the national football league in many ways. Bettors have much more time to make their NBA playoff picks as teams travel to each other's arenas and rest between series. Making successful NBA playoff predictions is as much about when you bet as it is who you bet on. A series might not start for days. That means an NBA spread may move quite a few points especially as the public bets closer to the action. If we see value in a playoff prediction it will rely heavily on getting the line we are quoting in said NBA pick. In the words of the great Tony George, "We are betting numbers, not teams!" That may not be more relevant than when making picks on the NBA playoff games.

7-Unit Play Take Cleveland -6 over Orlando (7 p.m. EST, Monday January 26)
The Cavaliers seem to be rounding into mid-season form, while the Magic are floundering. These teams are playing a back-to-back, home-and-home, as Cleveland won easy, 119-105 in Orlando on Saturday. Normally we would go for the losing team in these situations, but there have been a lot of sweeps this year in these situations, and we just like what we have seen from the Cavs lately. They have won five of six, with their only loss coming against the defending champs. With the loss on Saturday, Orlando has lost five of eight, with their wins coming against Brooklyn, New Orleans and Memphis. With Saturday’s win, Cleveland has won and covered in four of five meetings with the Magic. Cleveland has played four back-to-back sets like this already this season, and they won and covered the second game in three of four tries. Orlando has lost SU and ATS in the second game of both similar sets they have played this season.

2-Unit Play. Take #525 Portland (+8.5) over Boston (8 p.m., Monday, Jan. 26)
The Blazers are in the mix in the Western Conference at 23-23 and should be able to stay firmly in that position for the second half if they keep up this level of play. They had won four in a row before laying an egg against an increasingly solid Toronto squad so they are playing well right now. This is a tough spot for them to travel into Boston with a storm beating down the city but they are up for the challenge so take the points but this one should come down to the wire.
Carpe diem. Good luck.

3-Unit Play. Take #525 Portland (+8) Over Boston (8 p.m., Monday, January 26)
The Blazers already beat this Boston team head-to-head, and that confidence carries over into Monday. A key factor for Portland is to put pressure on Boston's solid defense and not settle for too many three-pointers. Boston’s superstar Jaylen Brown had a tight hamstring in the last game and it sounds like he will be on a minutes restriction. Take Portland to cover the spread tonight.
Scott Rickenbach
4-Unit Play. Take #517 Philadelphia (+2.5) at Charlotte (3:10 p.m., Mon, Jan. 26)
The 76ers are in a value spot here. Yes, Paul George and Joel Embiid are out for this game. However, both George and Embiid have each missed about half the games this season. In other words, the Sixers are used to playing games without these guys and also used to finding ways to pick up wins in spite of their absences. That said, value spot here with getting 2.5 at Charlotte. The 76ers still have plenty of quality players that will be on the floor for this one and the Hornets are only 8-13 SU at home this season while the Sixers are a respectable 12-7 on the road this season. The Sixers already beat Charlotte earlier this season without Paul George in that one. Also, Embiid only played 20 minutes in that one and he had a +/- rating of -2 so it is not like he was a big factor in the game. Take advantage of the additional line value here as the Sixers bounce back off their loss to the Knicks. The 76ers are a fantastic 6-1 SU the last 7 times when entering a game off a loss. I feel strongly that Philly is set to improve to 7-1 SU in that situation here but I will grab the 2.5 points as added insurance just in case. 4* PHILADELPHIA +2.5

4-Unit Play. #521. Take Memphis Grizzlies +10.5 over Houston Rockets (Monday @ 8:10pm est)
We thought about making this a step out but decided not to. Let's start the NBA this week with a great winner and move into the +7200 range. Note, we are +8280 already in CBB. We won a 8*Prop yesterday as well. Per the Grizzlies, great spot, they have a little revenge, come off a horrendous loss to the Pelicans as home favorites of -5, they are going to be more than ticked off coming in and it makes a lot of sense to back them here. Remember, the Rockets come off a pair of wins here, they have the Spurs on deck and will be looking ahead, no way they take this game as seriously and these Grizzlies are mad and hungry.

6-Unit Play: Take 528 T-Wolves -7.5 over Warriors (9:40 p.m., Monday, January 26)
Golden State turned a close game into a 26-point win over Minnesota last night, thanks mainly to a 38-17 third quarter. Golden State is still a banged-up basketball team, although Steph Curry might suit-up tonight despite playing last night. Minnesota was bad across the board even missing eight of 20 FTA. I expect a bounce back here and a return to the win column, covering the spread along the way. I’m laying the points with the T-Wolves. Thanks & GL! Scott Spreitzer.

8-Unit Play - (517) Philadelphia 76ers +2.5 -110 over Charlotte Hornets (1/26 | 3:00PM EST) This line is nuts. We understand the 76ers will be without Joel Embiid and Paul George, and historically that has not been good for them. However, this is still a winning team that are 12-7 on the road. The Hornets, on the other hand, are 18-28 overall, which includes going 8-13 at home. We loved this at +3.5, but the sharp money has started to come in (as expected) and while we lost a little value, it also adds value based on market agreement. Philadelphia have won two-straight in the head-to-head series, and five of the last seven. The Hornets have a solid offense stacked with talent, and it's been on full display the last couple of games, but they are one of the worst defensive teams as well. We should also note that the Hornets are just 5-3 SU as a favorite this season with losses coming vs. the Pacers (x2) and the Nets. Remember, the Pacers are 11-35, and the Nets are 12-32. There is nothing else to add. This is the NBA and anything can happen; hot or cold shooting, zero effort, referee issues. Having said that, pre-flop; this is the biggest edge we've had all season. Let's get it!

Monday January 26th 2025-
4 Unit Play Take #518 Charlotte -3 over Philadelphia (3:10pm est):
Charlotte is one of the most underrated teams in the NBA. The Hornets are 16-8 their last 24 games versus the spread. They are also 9-2 their last 11 against teams with a winning record on the season like Philadelphia. The Sixers are just 1-5 versus the number their last six in lower lined games between -3 and +3 points.
Take Charlotte in this one. Big 7u NHL selection on tap for tonight. I am up 4k on the NHL season overall.
Thank you and good luck,
Jason Sharpe

2 Unit Play - Take #515 Orlando (+5.5) Over Cleveland Cavaliers. (7:00p.m, Monday, January 26th)
Griffin Murphy
3 Unit Play - Take #526 Boston Celtics (-8) Over POR Trail Blazers. (8:00p.m, Monday, January 26th)
Boston comes into this game 28-17 on the year, 5-5 in their last 10 games, and coming off a 114-111 loss to Chicago on Saturday. So Boston is laying 8 points in this game and is just 5-5 in their last 10 games. This gives us an incentive. Boston is either going to light up the Blazers tonight, or the market has set this line as a scarcity play. We believe the Celtics will light up the Blazers tonight. Portland is 23-23 on the year, 7-3 in their last 10 games, and coming off a 98-110 home loss to Toronto on Friday. Portland is just 10-12 on the road, whilst Boston is 13-7 at home, and that is the split. The Celtics should take this game and run with it to get right back in motion.

3 Unit: NBA Take #515 ORL Magic (+5.5) over CLE Cavaliers (-110) (7:00p.m, Monday, January 26th)
Tonight, the Orlando Magic will travel to Cleveland to face the Cavaliers, two teams heading in opposite directions. Orlando comes in on a three-game losing streak, while Cleveland has won three straight and is playing solid basketball, going 7–3 over their last ten games. These two just saw each other, with Cleveland winning 119–105 in Orlando. Now the scene shifts to Cleveland, where the Cavs have been strong this season, sitting four games above .500 on their home floor. Orlando, meanwhile, is 9–11 on the road and has been inconsistent away from home. That said, the match feels like a much tighter game than the line suggests. Orlando just faced this Cavs team, knows exactly what to expect, and should come in with a clear game plan to clean things up. Teams in this spot often respond well after a loss, especially when they get an immediate rematch. Cleveland deserves respect, but I don’t see them running away with this one. I expect a competitive game throughout, with Orlando doing enough to hang around and keep it close. Give me the points here. Take the Orlando Magic +5.5 on the road tonight.

Let's get it!Strike Point Sports

Monday January 26th 2025-4 Unit Play Take #518 Charlotte -3 over Philadelphia (3:10pm est):
Charlotte is one of the most underrated teams in the NBA. The Hornets are 16-8 their last 24 games versus the spread. They are also 9-2 their last 11 against teams with a winning record on the season like Philadelphia. The Sixers are just 1-5 versus the number their last six in lower lined games between -3 and +3 points.
Take Charlotte in this one. Big 7u NHL selection on tap for tonight. I am up 4k on the NHL season overall.
Thank you and good luck,

2 Unit Play - Take #515 Orlando (+5.5) Over Cleveland Cavaliers. (7:00p.m, Monday, January 26th)Griffin Murphy

3 Unit: NBA Take #515 ORL Magic (+5.5) over CLE Cavaliers (-110) (7:00p.m, Monday, January 26th)Tonight, the Orlando Magic will travel to Cleveland to face the Cavaliers, two teams heading in opposite directions.
