Robert Ferringo continues his legendary basketball march and he has banked nearly $25,000 in profit on the college and pro hardwood over the last three months alone. The NBA playoffs has been up/down, but Friday night Esparza has circled a 6-Unit Play and this game looks to get him rolling. Esparza will have a 5-Unit MLB Play on Friday and he is looking for another outstanding baseball season. Saturday night Esparza has a 6-Unit MLS Soccer Play and he has cashed four out of his last seven MLS soccer matches. Indian Cowboy is out of the gates in a flurry once again for the NBA playoffs. IC is 3-0 (+$1600) after a 7-Unit Winner on Monday on the Golden State 'Over'. The Cowboy has won four straight years in the NBA playoffs for +$11,770 in the process and is ready to stay perfect during his time to shine. IC's goal is to make $4000 in the 2016 Playoffs and he is certainly on pace. The Cowboy has been the top producer in the NBA since March of 2013 posting +$26,000 in profits. The Cowboy is looking to duplicate a breakout MLB Season in 2015 (101-65 for +$16,266) and has combined for +$20,190 in baseball the last two years. Strike Point Sports is on an NBA tear and this is the time when this top-notch pro basketball handicapper rings the register time and time again for his clients. I know that Dallas is coming into this home game off a big upset win over the Thunder in Game 2. The Mavs have stolen home-court advantage in this series, but after this game the Thunder will take it right back. Kevin Durant played terribly in Game 2 and he will bounce back in a big way here. Durant was 7-33 from the floor and 2-11 from the three-point line. Along with that terrible shooting display he turned the ball over seven times. The Thunder as a team shot 33 percent from the floor and 22 percent from the three-point line. All of this will change in Game 3. Look for the Thunder to withstand an early run from the Mavs in front of their home crowd but then to take control as the better team. OKC will grab home-court advantage back in a big way 110-97. Take 'Under' 6.5 Pittsburgh at San Diego (9 p.m., Thursday, April 21)
I've hit three of four free play winners in this newsletter and I really think that this one is a gem. My rated MLB plays have been all over the map to start the year and I have been tightening things up lately. But I plan on let loose on at least a couple big spots this weekend. In terms of this free play, I think we have two really good pitchers that are due to dominate. Gerrit Cole was awesome in 2015 for the Pirates with a 2.60 ERA and he's been really, really good in his three full Big League seasons. He's off to a bit of a slow start this season and allowed just four hits against a really good Detroit lineup his last time out. The same can be said for James Shields. This guy has been so good for so long and he should dominate here. Two of his three starts this year were quality starts. The one that wasn't was in Coors Field and he gave up just four runs despite getting lit for three home runs. Four straight Shields starts have gone 'under' and the awkward start time here means that the hitters will have to battle the shadows as well as the two aces on the mound. Take Chicago Cubs (-1.5) over Cincinnati (7 p.m., Thursday, April 21)
Take the Chicago Cubs on the run line over the Cincinnati Reds as your free pick winner for Thursday, April 21. This pick falls into one of my MLB systems and the Cubs are the superior team at this point in the season, with also the superior pitcher on the mound. Arrieta has been lights out so far again this season in pitching at least 7 innings in all 3 of his starts, with an ERA of just 1.23. The Reds have hit just .179 against Arrieta the last 3 seasons, and I expect another great start from him Thursday night. Finnegan lasted just 5 innings in his last start, where he had trouble finding the strike zone. Take 'Under' Boston vs. Atlanta (7 p.m., Friday, April 22)
On Friday, Atlanta and Boston meet for Game 3 of this series. Currently as we write this, Atlanta is up 1-0 in this series with the contest on Tuesday Night pending. Note, that we will be on the Under in this selection once the line is released as Boston according to the metrics and our models plays considerably better defense at home and in particular with motivation in hand (meaning, when they come off a loss or their backs against the wall). This is a Boston team that played to the Under on November 13, 2015 when they hooked up against Atlanta and won 106-93. Then, to the Under on February 11 of 2015 when they beat Atlanta 89-88. Note, that Atlanta is also better on defense on the road as well as their most recent contests of 203 points at Cleveland, 202 at Toronto, 202 at Chicago and 207 at Detroit speaks to this. Hence, with Boston being motivated to the Under and the metrics showing Boston's defense much stronger to the Under at home when they play above-.500 teams and Atlanta to the Under on the road as well, our comp selection on Friday is on the Under upon the line release as we have the game in the mid-190's. Free NBA Basketball Prediction From Jason Sharpe :
Take #540 Detroit (+6.5) over Cleveland (7 p.m., Friday, April 22)
The Cleveland Cavaliers have some issues that most aren't talking about right now, but the bottom line is this team doesn't look like it's a #1 seed with NBA title hopes. The Cavaliers had their hands full in Game 1 against Detroit, trailing for a lot of that contest before coming through late to grab the win. The Pistons beat the Cavs in two of the three meaningful head-to-head battles these teams played during the regular season. Detroit gives Cleveland a ton of match-up problems in this series and that's huge when handicapping the NBA playoffs. The Pistons are a young and inexperienced team with nothing to lose and are looking for some positives to come out of what is the first playoff series ever for most of these Detroit players. Realistically they all know they won't win this series over LeBron and company but a strong showing in it would make everyone inside this organization a lot more excited about the future of this team. That means they need to get a win here in Game 3 at home. Look for the Pistons to bring maximum intensity to this contest and play this game like it's Game 7 of the NBA Finals. Take 'Under' 8.0 Tampa Bay at N.Y. Yankees (1 p.m., Saturday, April 23) Former top prospect Matt Moore ran into some major injury issues over the last couple of seasons and struggled mightily when he was able to take the mound. But Moore is healthy now and has seemed to have put his control issues behind him so far in 2016. He's cut his walk rate down to just 1.5 per nine innings and owns an impressive 2.95 ERA in three starts. The southpaw is slated to start in Yankee Stadium on Saturday afternoon, where he should have an advantage over a New York lineup full of left-handed batters. On the other side will be Masahiro Tanaka for the Yanks. He's been very good in his three outings this season and shouldn't have a ton of trouble with a struggling Rays' lineup. Tampa is next to last in runs scored in the AL and there just aren't many threats to speak of. Both starting pitchers figure to have good outings and both bullpens have multiple reliable arms to shut things down in the late innings. Take 'Over' 8.0 Minnesota at Washington (1 p.m., Saturday, April 22)
If there are no rainouts then this matchup should be Tanner Roark for the home team and Phil Hughes for the visitors. That is not a matchup of stars! Roark has had three starts this season and in two of them he has given up at least four runs. He has a 1-to-1 strikeout-to-walk ratio and he isn't fooling anyone. He has been a slow starter the past two years. Roark went 5-1 against the total in his first six starts in 2015. In 2014 he went 4-2 against the total in his first six starts. The Twins will back Hughes. He has been consistent this year. But he has been very average. He has given up three runs and six hits in six innings in all three of his starts. Hughes has a 4.40 ERA over his last 28 starts. Minnesota's offense is starting to rebound after a terrible start. They have scored 21 runs in their last four games and I think that they can get to Roark. The 'over' is 6-1 in Minnesota's last seven interleague games and I see this one going 'over'. Take Carson Wentz (-105) First Overall - 2016 NFL Draft (Thursday, April 28)
The Los Angeles Rams now have the No.1 pick in the draft and everybody knows the Rams traded for this pick to grab a quarterback. In my eyes it's a no brainier to grab North Dakota State senior QB Carson Wentz as the No. 1 pick. Wentz is built to be an NFL quarterback; he is tall and has a monster arm to throw down the field. Everybody talks about the level of competition he dealt with at North Dakota St, but look at Big Ben in Pittsburgh and Joe Flacco at Baltimore. They didn't come out of big college schools and they have won Super Bowls. I'm not saying that Carson Wentz is going to take the L.A.
