NFL Confidence Pool Picks Week 14
The most noteworthy performances of week 13 included the following:
In a classic AFC East battle, the New England Patriots travelled to Buffalo Monday night. Bill Belichick proved once again why he is a football genius, as he consistently finds ways to win in any type of game script. The Patriots threw the ball only three times on Monday and were able to keep Josh Allen under lock, winning a gritty 14-10 football game. New England is now atop the AFC and have won seven in a row.
The Detroit Lions were able to finally get their first win of the season against divisional rival Minnesota Vikings. Jared Goff pulled off a game winning drive with less than two minutes to play to lead the Lions to victory. In a season where the Lions have been in many games, this win does not come at a huge surprise; they were due. For the Vikings, it was a pivotal loss for a team in a tough NFC playoff race.
Lamar Jackson and the Baltimore Ravens luck finally ran out. The Pittsburgh Steelers pulled off a huge win to keep them alive in the AFC North picture. Things to consider in this matchup: Pittsburgh is extremely resilient, and the Baltimore Ravens showed they may not be as good as their record indicates. The Ravens have been flirting with disaster all season and could easily be .500 or below if it weren’t for late game dramatics.

Key matchups of week are as followed:
Cleveland Browns vs Baltimore Ravens
Spread -2.5 (Browns)
Pick Popularity 41%
Win Percentage 56%
Baltimore is trending downwards, and the Browns are coming off a much-needed bye week, which hopefully got their roster healthier. Picking the Browns would be an unpopular value pick this week. In a toss-up matchup, I like the Browns in this divisional rival game.
Los Angeles Rams @ Arizona Cardinals
Spread +3 (Rams)
Pick Popularity 32%
Win percentage 42%
I know it was against the Jacksonville Jaguars, but I believe it was the game needed to get Matt Stafford and the Rams offense clicking on all cylinders again. The Cardinals have undoubtedly been the most consistent team in the NFL this season, but to beat a team as talented as the Rams twice in a season will be a tall task for Arizona Monday night. With only 32% of the public choosing the Rams, I believe you can get much needed points in your confidence pool choosing them upset the Cardinals on the road.
Note: If the Rams don’t win, the Cardinals will have a stranglehold on the NFC West and home field advantage going into the playoffs.
Buffalo Bills @ Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Spread +3.5 (Bills)
Pick Popularity 11%
Win percentage 38%
The Public has lost a lot of confidence in the Buffalo Bills since the beginning of the season. The Bills came into the season as basically a lock to win the AFC East, but opponents have been able to expose their one-dimensional offense this year. The Buccaneers, on the other hand, have been unbeaten at home this year and continue to be heavy Super Bowl favorites heading into the playoffs. This is the lowest the Bills have been picked to win in the past two seasons, and I think you should avoid ranking Tampa Bay near the top of your confidence pool. This matchup should be bottom three in your rankings, as I see a lot of value in the Buffalo Bills still.
New Orleans Saints @ New York Jets
Spread -5 (Saints)
Pick Popularity 88%
Win Percentage 67%
Seven other teams are being picked at a higher clip then the New Orleans Saints this week, and rightfully so; the Saints have struggled since losing Jameis Winston. With the return of Alvin Kamara against the tanking New York Jets, I can confidently move this matchup higher in my pool this week. The Jets are in the mix to be a high lottery pick once again, and this game is a must win for the Saints in a tight NFC playoff race. The Jets will not be able to force turnovers like the Cowboys did to the New Orleans last week; expect a blowout victory for the hungry Saints.
