NFL Week 8 Line Movements with Point Spread Analysis

Point spreads rarely sit still in the NFL, and one bad Sunday can change how Vegas sees a team faster than a coach can blame the refs. Whether it’s a key injury, an ugly loss in an upset or a well-timed bye, any of them can move a line more than most bettors expect, and Week 7 had all of it. The Seahawks held Kansas City without a red zone trip in a 20-3 win, and Cincinnati scored 35 straight points against Baltimore. The Dolphins also grabbed their first win in a divisional matchup, and a few lines took a massive shift heading into Week 8.
Four spreads have taken the biggest jumps since the lines got posted, and a couple of them even changed sides of the field in a hurry. Below is what moved each spread and which side deserves your money before Sunday.

Indianapolis Colts @ Jacksonville Jaguars (Jaguars -7.5 to Jaguars -9.5)
After falling flat on their face with just 10 points in Minnesota, the Colts have now dropped three straight to fall to 2-5. In fairness, the Vikings allow the second-fewest yards in the league at 252.8 per game, but the excuses run out this week.
A rested Jacksonville team is waiting on the other side, and they come in at 4-2 off a bye. The Jaguars are putting up north of 25 points per game with one of the league’s best run defenses backing them up. A two-point bump in this spread makes plenty of sense, and I’m laying the 9.5 with Jacksonville.
Philadelphia Eagles @ Washington Commanders (Commanders -3.5 to Commanders -5.5)
It takes some courage to lay points with a team that has one win all season, but Vegas shifted Washington from -3.5 to -5.5 anyway, and it’s beyond obvious why: the injury situation in Philadelphia got even worse on Monday night.
Season-ending blood clots knocked Jalen Hurts out of the picture, and Tanner McKee hasn’t gotten much help since. The Eagles played without their top two receivers in Week 7 and even benched Saquon Barkley late in the game.
Division games are division games, but Philly is a dumpster fire right now. Washington, on the other hand, walks in rested off a bye with a healthy Jayden Daniels running the better offense. Call me crazy, but I like the Commanders -5.5.
Cleveland Browns @ Pittsburgh Steelers (Steelers -4.5 to Steelers -3.5)
Close wins have become Cleveland’s identity this season, with each of their last four games decided by five points or fewer. Both teams are on the up and up, but the Browns have surprised plenty of people lately, and a point came off this line as a result.
Look, despite both teams sitting at 5-2, their offenses have been a bit of a roller coaster, and that forces this one to come down to defense. Pittsburgh is clearly the better option there, allowing just 19.7 points per game, which opens the door for their offense to build a lead and shut down any of the Browns’ momentum. Less than a touchdown with the better defense feels like a bargain, and Pittsburgh is where I’m leaning.
Los Angeles Chargers @ Los Angeles Rams (Rams -7.5 to Rams -6.5)
Somehow, sitting on the couch for a week did more for the Chargers than six games of actual football. This line slid from Rams -7.5 to -6.5 during their bye, and frankly, that’s a shocking move for a team that’s still 0-6.
In-state games always bring a split crowd and extra attention, but the Rams have a lot more going for them right now. They’re fresh off a 35-21 win over Las Vegas and still rank No. 1 in offense yards per game and 11th for points per game. Getting the Rams under a touchdown against a winless team is the steal of the week, and they should pummel the Chargers by seven or more.
