In the last five meetings between these two teams, four of the games have gone over the total, and throw away last week's result from the Colts because of the blizzard in Buffalo, but the Colts defense have given up an average of 23.3 ppg. If Denver can move the ball like they did against the Jets defense then I see the Broncos stealing this road game and pushing this total OVER. Take USC (-17.5) over Santa Clara (10 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 14)
I'm setting up for a huge Saturday college basketball card that you are not going to want to miss out on. Take Detroit over Atlanta (7 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 14)
This pick falls into one of my top NBA system, and the Pistons are hands down the superior team here Thursday night. Take Washington over LA Clippers (7 p.m., Friday, Dec. 15)
We think that "revenge" is one of the more overrated NBA handicapping angles. However, when the teams played recently we do think that it comes into play. And these teams played less than a week ago in LA with the Clippers scoring a one-point win. They needed a three in the last 10 seconds for the win and there was also some controversy with the clock on the Wizards last possession so we have no doubt that they remember that game. The Wizards should also have John Wall back here as he missed the last meeting, and that will be a big improvement for this Wizards team. Washington had a slow start in that last meeting but they outplayed the Clippers in the second half, and we think they will put forth a more complete performance here at home on Friday night.

Take N.C. State over UNC-Greensboro (Noon, Saturday, Dec. 16)
The Wolfpack have gotten out to a soaring start at home in Raleigh, and I don't expect in-state neighbor UNC-G to change much of that. Through its first 10 games of this season, State has nearly a 15-point scoring margin, something that is a good indicator of the team's early success. The Spartans are just 1-3 so far in road games, and they won't have the goods to keep up with their opponent here. Take the home favorite in this one. Take North Texas (+6.5) over Troy (1 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 16)
Let's roll with the underdog here in the first Bowl Game of the year as North Texas is trying to shake off a horrible game against FAU in losing 17-41 as an 11-point underdog. They will be very angry coming into this game facing Troy. Remember, this was a North Texas team that had covered 4 straight games coming into the FAU game, including big wins over Rice, Army, Louisiana Tech and UTEP. This is a team that is ranked 19th in the nation in total offense, 21st in pass offense, and 64th in passing yards allowed with some decent defensive backs. Plus, Troy has won 6 straight and covered 3 straight, but they face a very potent North Texas team in this one. And note that Troy is outside the top 80 rushing offense and is 70th in pass defense, which will impact the way they defend this high-powered offense. At the end of the day, this comes down to the more motivated team, and for a team like Troy who had beat LSU, for them to face North Texas after winning 10 games is a disappointment. Take 'Under' 5.5 Pittsburgh at Arizona (8 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 16)
The Arizona Coyotes are the worst team in hockey, but they're no dummies. They realize in order to stay competitive with the Pittsburgh Penguins, they are going to have to slow the game down and limit overall scoring chances. The vaunted Pittsburgh offense hasn't really clicked yet this season. They are in the middle of pack in scoring, and the team is actually on the outside looking in as far as the playoffs go at the moment. While they'll surely turn it around at some point, right now they look a little bit lost. These two teams met earlier on this season in Pittsburgh where the Pens won 3-1. I expect more of the same Saturday in Phoenix, so play the UNDER in our Saturday Free Play selection. Two teams that have been trending to the over will meet when the New York Jets hit the road to take on the Saints at the Mercedes Benz Superdome in New Orleans, LA, on Sunday afternoon. The Jets have posted a perfect 5-0 record to the over in their last five games following a straight up loss, and they are also a perfect 4-0 to the over in their last four games where they faced a team with a winning record. The Saints have been an over team as well in the spot they are in here on Sunday as they have gone up and over the number in five straight games following a straight up loss and they are an impressive 12-3 to the over in their last 15 games where they faced a team with a winning % of .500 or lower. Take #303 Chicago (+5.5) over Detroit (4:30 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 17)
The Chicago Bears have been a solid underdog play this season when getting a touchdown or less, going 6-1-1 against the spread in games in this type of price range. The Bears went through a rough patch a few weeks ago in dropping 5 straight games, but they were without their superstar linebacker Danny Trevathan for a majority of those games. He's now back, and there may not be another defensive player in the league who has a greater impact on his team's overall play as the Bears allowed an average of 27 points per game without him and 19 points per game with him on the field. The Bears come in off their best effort of the season last game in winning on the road 33-7 at Cincinnati. The Detroit Lions return home here after playing their last two games on the road. This is a team that's struggled at home this season with a 2-4 record straight up and against the spread in their home contests. The Lions have also played poorly late in the season of late with a 10-23 ATS mark in their last 33 December and January games. The last 5 head-to-head match-ups between these two divisional rivals has been decided by 4 points or less, so look for the same thing here in this one. Take Dallas (-3) over Oakland (8:30 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 17)
I got a bird's eye view of Oakland last week as I attended their game in Kansas City where the Chiefs defense overwhelmed Oakland at every turn, and KC's defense was rankled 29th in the NFL headed into that game. Yes, it was Arrowhead and the crowd was in near riot mode, but at day's end the Raiders never got off the bus and it was shocking to see in person how poor their defense was, let alone the fact that offense of the Raiders never got going against a defense who allowed the Jets 38 points the week before. Not sold on Oakland this year, and never was going into the season as I faded them in season win totals and their luck has dried up after last year's miracle wins. It starts and ends with the dysfunction of the offense and not being able to establish a running game and balancing their attack. WR Cooper is listed as doubtful this week, which is an issue. The defense has already fired Ken Norton as DC and nothing has changed. Dallas was busy beating the Giants last week, and despite a back-to-back road scenario I am laying the points with Dallas for 2 reasons: Sean Lee is back on defense, and he is their leader and big play maker, and Dak Prescott and company with the massive offensive line of Dallas should be able to move the chains at will with a running game that will set up the passing game. Take #211 Akron (+22.5) over Florida Atlantic (7 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 19)
What a season Lane Kiffin had at Florida Atlanta this season. He won 10 games to go along with a Conference USA Championship. But unfortunately, Florida Atlantic may be the end of the line for him as he was not considered for a coaching promotion due to the bridges he has burned in the past. I just do not see them running over an Akron team that is thrilled to be in this bowl game. Toledo is a very similar team to Florida Atlantic, and I expect a similar result in this game, a 15-18 point victory for FAU. Akron is 8-2 ATS in their last 10 games. FAU is 2-6 ATS in their last 8 nonconference games.
