Expert NFL Betting Picks: Weekly NFC East Predictions Week 13
by Dave Schwab - 11/26/2014
When last week's NFC 'pick of the week' came out, I had Dallas -4.5 points over the Giants as my 4-Unit play. The spread closed at three points to make this game a wash, which is why it is always important to track line movements as the week wears on. Since I am counting this game as a loss, my year-to-date record with these free picks now stands at 8-4.
Each and every week of this year's NFL regular season I continue to preview all the games in the NFC East as well as release my free "pick of the week"with the use of Doc's Sports Unit Betting System. All the NFL betting odds for my picks are provided by BetOnline. The ultimate goal is to generate a solid profit with my free picks, and so far I have remained fairly hot with an overall return of $1,260 for any $100 bettor that has been following the recommended plays on these weekly picks.
Philadelphia Eagles vs. Dallas Cowboys (Thursday, Nov. 27, 4:30 p.m.)
The Eagles bounced back from a rough outing in Green Bay with a 43-24 romp over Tennessee last week as 11-point home favorites. This team has done a great job at not only beating the teams it should but also covering the spread. Philadelphia is 8-3 both straight up and against the spread but just 2-2 ATS in four games as an underdog. The key to getting the win as underdogs this Thursday will be the ability of its defense to get off the field.
Dallas is also 8-3 SU headed into this division showdown, but it has failed to cover in three of its last four games to fall to 6-5 ATS. Last Sunday, the Cowboys had to rally from a first-half deficit to get past New York 31-28 as 4.5-point road favorites with a last-minute scoring drive. They are 2-4 ATS at home this season and 3-4 in seven games as favorites.
BetOnline has listed Dallas as a three-point home favorite for this Thanksgiving Day tilt, and the total has been set at 54.5.
Washington Redskins vs. Indianapolis Colts (Sunday, Nov. 29, 1 p.m.)
The turmoil in Washington continues after the Redskins blew a golden opportunity to steal a win in a 17-14 loss to San Francisco as 9.5-point road underdogs. They are now 3-8 SU on the year with a 4-7 record ATS. Robert Griffin III's return to the starting lineup did not last all that long as it looks head coach Jay Gruden is going with Colt McCoy as his quarterback against the Colts.
Indianapolis has opened up a two-game lead over Houston in the AFC South with a SU record of 7-4 after last week's win against Jacksonville, but it is just 2-2 both SU and ATS in its last four games. It has been a roller-coaster ride for the Colts' defense during this stretch. It held the Jaguars to just a field goal in last week's win after getting torched for an average of 39 points in the previous three contests.
The Colts are favored by 10.5-points at home against Washington, and the total in this inter-conference clash has been set at 51.
NFC East Week 13 'Pick of the Week'
New York Giants vs. Jacksonville Jaguars (Sunday, Nov. 29, 1 p.m.)
I had the Giants going down to the wire with Philadelphia for the NFC East title before the season started, but right now at 3-8 they will need a minor miracle to avoid their worst record since 2004 when they went 6-10. While New York did manage to score 28 points in last week's loss, it is still ranked 21 st in the NFL in scoring with 21.2 points a game. The total has stayed under in the Giants last four road games as favorites, and they are favored by 2.5 points in this one.
Jacksonville has just one SU win on the year, and I do not think that will change after Sunday's game, but its defense continues to do a good job at harassing quarterbacks. Last Sunday against the Colts this unit got to Andrew Luck five times, and it should have the same sort of success this Sunday against Eli Manning, who has been sacked 22 times this season. I would not expect all that much from a Jacksonville offense that is ranked last in the NFL in scoring with 14.6 points a game, but this should set up the perfect scenario for a low-scoring game.
4-Unit Play: Take New York vs. Jacksonville UNDER 44.5
