NFL Confidence Pool Picks Week 8
Week 8 is here. That means Tua Tagovailoa will get his first NFL start of the season with the Dolphins. This whole Tagovailoa situation is weird knowing that they’re making Tua start his first game against one of the better defenses in the league. Meanwhile, the league also has plenty of conference games with many implications. This should be fun.
Every week I give you my favorite to least favorite games according to my confidence in the pick. Remember, all picks will be picked without using the spread. I look forward to giving you the best chance to win your NFL Confidence pool each week and throughout the entirety of the 2020-21 season.
As the years have gone on, Confidence Pools have become very popular. If you’re unfamiliar with confidence pools, here's a rundown of the concept. Each week you will pick every game and the team you believe will win that game straight up. It’s always good to sprinkle in some underdogs that are adding points to their score! Let’s defeat your entire pool!
Week 8 Confidence List (Most Confidence to Least Confidence)
Jets vs Chiefs: The Chiefs need to win by 20 points. And I can see it happening. The Jets haven’t won a game this season. And, honestly, they might not get a win at all. Mahomes will dissect this offense and actually finish drives (unlike the Bills.) Take the Chiefs.
Cowboys vs Eagles: The Cowboys have questions at the most important position. No matter who plays quarterback, the Eagles will march down the field every time they’re given the ball. This Cowboys defense is terrible, and the quarterback situation is really scary now. Take the Eagles.
Buccaneers vs Giants: The Giants will struggle to score points. And although the Giants have a solid defense, Brady will have all the tricks up his sleeve to score enough points to cover. Take the Buccaneers.
Titans vs Bengals: The Titans have come back to win games all season long. They’ve played tight games and found ways to win. Until Sunday, when they lost to the Steelers on a missed field goal. Again, the Titans found a way, but just fell short. I’m comfortable with the Titans finding a way against the Bengals defense. Take the Titans.
Vikings vs Packers: Rodgers has his man Devante Adams back. He might not have Aaron Jones back just yet, but it didn’t matter last week and it won’t matter this week. Rodgers has looked stellar all season (outside one game against the Buccaneers). The Vikings offense will have successful drives but not enough to keep up with the Packers. Take the Packers.
Rams vs Dolphins: It’ll be exciting to see Tua Tagovailoa take the field as starter for the Dolphins. But this Rams defense is ferocious. They won’t take it easy on the Dolphins. In what universe are the Rams just a -3 favorite against the Dolphins? Take the Rams.
Chargers vs Broncos: The Chargers struggled a bit against the Jaguars last week. That’s concerning. However, when you compare rosters, the Chargers have the much better team. The Broncos struggle inside the redzone at times. That’ll happen here. Take the Chargers.
Saints vs Bears: I’ve never been on the Bears train, and I’m not getting on it even with a 5-2 record. Nick Foles is under center for the Bears, and that just won’t cut it against the Saints. The defense hasn’t been good, but you can expect the offense score points on an overrated Bears defense. Take the Saints.
Falcons vs Panthers: I’m confident in what Teddy Bridgewater has shown this season that he can rip apart this Falcons secondary. The Falcons continue to make silly mistakes and also continue to find ways to lose. They won’t have to worry about it on Thursday. They’ll be trailing all game. Take the Panthers.
Patriots vs Bills: I’ve been hating on the Patriots for quite some time now, but the Bills haven’t shown much, either, as of late. Their drives stalled against the Jets and Buffalo left plenty of points on the table. The Patriots defense will step up and make enough plays for the Patriots to pull off an upset. Take the Patriots.
Raiders vs Browns: The Browns offense is all banged up. Can you really rely on Baker Mayfield? He’s been so inconsistent all season long. The Raiders have already taken down Patrick Mahomes. They’ll take down Mayfield. Take the Raiders.
Colts vs Lions: The Colts have been a tough team to figure out this season. They’ve got some bad losses and some good wins. The Lions are that surprise team that has talent, but nobody really wants to give them credit. It’s fair but that final drive from Matt Stafford against the Falcons shows me everything I need to know about the Lions. Take the Lions.
49ers vs Seahawks: The Seahawks have been exposed. The Cardinals defeated the Seahawks in a thriller on Sunday night and now face the 49ers. The 49ers have looked like one of NFL’s best teams in the last two weeks and will be a big challenge for the Seahawks. Take the 49ers.
Steelers vs Ravens: This is the game I’m least confident on. It’s a toss up between two fantastic AFC North teams that have had incredible seasons. I think there’s value on the Steelers as underdogs, but either team can come out with the win. Take the Steelers.
