Best NFL Teaser Bets Week 10: Basic Strategy Teasers

Sports betting is not easy. And outside of the occasional quarterly gift you might receive, it will always be difficult. For some of us, that's why we love it so much. Every week, we get a new equation to solve. Sometimes the variables are the same, and sometimes they are not.
The point is that we need all the help we can get in this business. How many times have you dominated a side for 58 minutes only to be burned by a 160-pound soccer player in the final seconds?
What if I told you there was a way to add points to the spread? Well, there is. It's called teasing. I don't know how they came up with the name. These bets aren't just a tease. They actually pay off.
Doc’s Sports offers NFL expert picks for every game on our NFL predictions page.
What is a Teaser?
A teaser is a type of parlay wager in which the bettor can manipulate the odds in their favor. Of course, the sportsbooks adjust your payout, but a win is still a win.
You can do a 4-point teaser, 6 points, or even up to 12 in some places. Like other parlay bets, you can also decide to add just about as many legs as you want. The books know that the more legs you add ot the parlay, the less likely it is to hit. So, they typically don't mind when you want ot give them your money.
What if we want to take their money? Well, a basic strategy must be put in place.
What is a Basic Strategy Teaser?
A basic strategy teaser is a 6-point 2-leg teaser in the NFL. Don't bother with college football games. Their totals can be very high, and we want to avoid them. Our 6 points won't go as far as they would with a smaller total, like we will see in a minute with the Jets and Browns.
The basic strategy is to tease through the key numbers of 3, 6, and 7. With a 6-point teaser, you look for favorites with odds of (-7.5) to (-8.5) and tease them down under a field goal to (-1.5) to (-2.5).
I prefer teasing underdogs down rather than teasing favorites up, but every situation is unique. To do this, we look for small dogs of (+1.5) to (+2.5) and take them above a touchdown to (+7.5) to (+8.5).
Potential Week 10 NFL Teaser Games
Cleveland Browns (+2) at New York Jets (-2) Total: 37
We're getting a very low total here to start, and one of the best defenses in the league. The only issue is that the defense doesn't travel well. The offense doesn't travel well, but in Cleveland, at least, you know you have the Dawg Pound and Myles Garrett to get after the quarterback.
What a waste of one of the most extraordinary defensive talents we've seen since Lawrence Taylor. Yes, I said it. If Garrett were on a team that usually had the lead and didn't have to fight through double and triple teams all the time, he would be a cut above Aiden Hutchinson, Trey Hendrickson, and T.J. Watt.
Forgive the rant. I'm not even a Browns fan, but when a player gets five sacks in a game and slams his helmet in frustration, you know something is wrong.
New England Patriots (+2.5) at Tampa Bay Buccaneers (-2.5) Total: 48
I love the spot here for the Bucs, as well as the ability of Drake Maye to use his arm and legs to keep this a one-score ball game.
Baker Mayfield and the Bucs got their bye week, though, and I like them to cover here at home.
Detroit Lions (-8.5) at Washington Commanders (+8.5) Total: 49.5
Wow, the Washington Commanders have had the worst two months of any team in the NFL. After a 3-2 start to the season, they lost to a revenge-happy Bears team by 1. That wasn't to obad but then they fell off a cliff, losing their next three games all by 20+ points.
Now, Jayden Daniels is out for a long time. He will probably never be the same, and the Detroit Lions are coming to town. They’re not happy, either, coming off a loss to the Vikings on Sunday.
Philadelphia Eagles (+2.5) at Green Bay Packers (-2.5) Total: 44.5
I love Philly here, as they are coming off a bye week. Yes, they may be a public underdog, but I’ll take them (+8.5) on any week against anyone in the league.
Pick: Philadelphia Eagles (+8.5) and Detroit Lions (-2.5)
I know the Jets sold big at the trade deadline, but I still stayed away from Cleveland because they are so bad on the road.
The Pats are a solid leg as well, but on the road against a top 3-5 power-ranked team coming off a bye is tough.
Detroit and Washington are two teams going in entirely different directions.
The defending Super Bowl Champion Eagles, who have already won in KC and Tampa this season, are off a bye and playing better lately on both sides of the ball.
