NFL Confidence Pool Picks Week 6

Week 5 channeled the 2024-25 season with eight dogs winning outright, three of which were by 7 points or more. San Francisco opened the "Week of the Dog" by defeating their division rivals, the Los Angeles Rams, 26-23 as 8.5-point road dogs. The Tennessee Titans left the land of the winless when they traveled to Glendale and beat Arizona 22-21. Finally, New England handed Buffalo their first loss of the season Sunday night when the visiting Patriots defeated the Bills 23-20, winning in Orchard Park for the first time since 2021.
My best friend told me on Tuesday that there was a full moon, and that explains all of the craziness that took place over the weekend. I'll go with that because, as the 1 o'clock games were coming to a close, I knew the week wasn't going to be a banger, but I was optimistic that it wouldn't be too bad. Watching Philadelphia cough up a 14-point lead against Denver going into the 4th quarter started the chaos. The aforementioned Titans game went one point better, coming from 15 points down against the Cardinals. The LA Chargers took an early 10-0 lead against the Washington Commanders, only to be outscored by 27 points over the next three quarters. After the smoke cleared Monday night, Week 5 was an official dumpster fire, going 4-10 for 19 points out of a possible 105.
Doc’s Sports offers NFL expert picks for every game on our NFL predictions page.
15 – Green Bay vs. Cincinnati: The Bengals are reeling from the loss of star quarterback Joe Burrow (aka Joe Cool) to a severe turf toe injury, and they're placing their hopes in veteran Joe Flacco, recently acquired from the Browns, to rescue a team in freefall. Since Burrow's exit, Cincinnati has been outscored 113–37 in its last three games, all of which have been losses.
14 – Philadelphia at NY Giants (TNF): Last Sunday showed how brutal a revenge game can be, with Patriots wideout Stefon Diggs torching the Bills' secondary. Eagles running back Saquon Barkley delivered his own last year against the Giants, racking up 176 yards on 17 carries (10.4 per rush) and a touchdown. Another eruption could be coming.
13 – Washington vs. Chicago (MNF2): A showcase of the top two picks from the 2024 NFL Draft. Caleb Williams is steadily improving for the Bears, though the supporting cast remains thin. Jayden Daniels, last season's Offensive Rookie of the Year, continues to build an impressive resume for the Commanders.
12 – Buffalo at Atlanta (MNF1): Buffalo might wish it played in the NFC, boasting a 16–4 straight-up record against cross-conference opponents. The Falcons have dropped two straight to the Bills and aren't eager for another.
11 – LA Chargers at Miami: Miami faces a tough challenge against the Chargers' ninth-ranked overall defense and sixth in scoring at 19.6 points per game. The Dolphins' own defense has been far less effective, allowing 29.3 points per contest.
10 – Denver at NY Jets (Sunday Morning): Fresh off a wild fourth-quarter comeback against the Eagles, Denver heads across the pond to face a Jets team that struggles to score (22.4 ppg, 19th) and can't stop anyone (31.4 ppg, 31st).
09 – Indianapolis vs. Arizona: The Colts are the early surprise of the season, ranking second in scoring (32.6 ppg) and third in points allowed (17.8 ppg). Jonathan Taylor leads the league with seven touchdowns and will test Arizona's eighth-ranked run defense.
08- LA Rams @ Baltimore: Baltimore is the NFL's version of the Texas Longhorns or Penn State: All hype, little substance. Teams quitting isn't all that uncommon; teams quitting in the fifth game of the season, like the Ravens did in their embarrassing 44-10 loss at home to the Houston Texans. The good news for Baltimore is that they have their bye week in Week 7. The bad news is that it won't help them against the Rams this week.
07 – Tampa Bay vs. San Francisco: San Francisco gutted out an overtime win last week with a patchwork roster. They'll get some reinforcements, but now travel cross-country to face the league's hottest QB-WR duo in Baker Mayfield and Emeka Egbuka.
06 – Cleveland at Pittsburgh: Dillion Gabriel held his own against Minnesota's third-ranked pass defense. He'll feel like he's in paradise against Pittsburgh's porous secondary, which is giving up 260 yards per game.
05 – Las Vegas vs. Tennessee: Tennessee escaped last week thanks to Emari Demercado's premature goal-line fumble, turning a sure touchdown into a touchback. They won by a point. Now they head to Sin City, hoping luck strikes twice.
04 – Dallas at Carolina: Dallas has dominated this matchup, going 12–3 straight up over the last 15 games and 6–1 in Carolina. Even with injuries piling up, those numbers are hard to ignore.
03 – New England at New Orleans: Fresh off a stunning upset of a division rival, New England heads to the Big Easy to face one of the league's weakest teams. Despite a win last week, the Saints still rank in the 20s in both scoring (18.4 ppg) and points allowed (27.0 ppg).
02 – Jacksonville vs. Seattle: Both teams are tied for the most games involving round-trip trips over 1,000 miles. Seattle hasn't fared well in Jacksonville, losing three of its last four visits.
01 – Detroit at Kansas City (SNF): Once billed as a potential Super Bowl preview, this Sunday night clash still promises fireworks. Detroit leads the league in scoring (34.8 ppg) and should find success on the ground against Kansas City's vulnerable front. That will open the door for Jared Goff to connect with Amon-Ra St. Brown for at least one more touchdown.
