2026 Atlanta Falcons Predictions with Best Bets and Odds to Win the Super Bowl

The Atlanta Falcons will be looking to snap their streak of eight straight seasons with a sub-.500 record as they try to get back to the playoffs for the first time since 2017. They closed out the season last year on a four-game win streak, but it wasn’t enough for them to finish on top of the dreadful NFC South. A strong defense and a new-look offense have the Falcons as one of the more dangerous teams in the division, but it will all come down to what quality they get from the quarterback position. Can the Falcons finally put together a strong season, or will it be another lost year in Atlanta?

Atlanta Falcons Offseason Recap

The Atlanta Falcons shot themselves in the foot when they signed Kirk Cousins to a long-term deal, but they have now finally cut the cord after releasing him in the offseason. Cousins was unable to replicate his early-career success after moving to Atlanta, leading the league with 16 interceptions his first year before being benched halfway through last season. That left Michael Penix Jr. as the starter for Atlanta, who put together a respectable nine touchdowns to three interceptions to close out the year. 

Penix Jr. was expected to be the starter for Atlanta this season, but after the Falcons signed Tua Tagovailoa to a league-minimum $1.215 million deal, that may no longer be the case. Tagovailoa had a successful six years in Miami, but his time came to an end after the Dolphins fell off a cliff last year. Tagovailoa has the explosiveness needed to carry an NFL team, but his ongoing concussion issues made him an unreliable starter for Miami. This ‘prove it’ deal for Tagovailoa gives him a chance to get his career back on track while the Falcons get a high-risk, high-reward quarterback with a suitable backup in Penix Jr. in the wings. 

At head coach, the Falcons moved on from Raheem Morris after two years in Atlanta. In steps Kevin Stefanski. The two-time NFL Coach of the Year is known for his defensive structure, a category the Falcons struggled in last season. There wasn’t a surplus of talent in Cleveland during Stefanski’s time with the Browns, but he still managed to roll out a competitive roster on a weekly basis. This is the most talent Stefanski has had to work with during his NFL career, and hopes are high that he can usher in the next era of winning football in Atlanta. 

Elsewhere, the Falcons mixed up their pass catchers with Jahan Dotson and Austin Hooper both joining the roster. They will be behind Drake London on the depth chart, who recently signed a four-year contract extension, and the Falcons also have talented hands with Kyle Pitts at tight end. 

2026 Atlanta Falcons Season Expectations

A wide-open NFC South means that a winning record could be good enough to win the division. The 8-9 Panthers went to the playoffs last year after Carolina held the tiebreaker over the Falcons last year, and it looks like it will be another dogfight in the NFC South. 

As a result, there are expectations that the Falcons should make the playoffs this year. Tagovailoa should benefit from a new home and is expected to be the Week 1 starter for the Falcons. London and Pitts are two of the best performers at their respective positions, and the Falcons have a real treasure with Bijan Robinson at running back. Robinson can catch like few other running backs in the league, and his ability to find holes both through his vision and tackle-breaking abilities means the Falcons are always one run away from a touchdown. There is no shortage of talent at the skill positions this season, which means if the Falcons can find mediocre play from Tagovailoa or Penix Jr, this offense will find ways to score more often than not. 

On the defensive side of the ball, the Falcons were just hitting their stride during the tail end of last season. However, the off-field issues for star pass rusher James Pearce Jr. still loom large as they enter training camp. The consensus is that Pearce Jr. will be eligible to start the season, but an ongoing investigation and felony charges over a domestic dispute with his ex-girlfriend, WNBA star Rickea Jackson, could result in a midseason suspension. A lack of pass rushers could be overcome by a strong secondary that will allow Stefanski to send frequent blitzes, but even AJ Terrell and Jessie Bates will still occasionally get burned in single coverage. 

2026 Atlanta Falcons Schedule Breakdown

It’s hard to say how easy or difficult the Falcons schedule will be this year. Based on last year’s win percentages, the Falcons have the fourth-easiest schedule in the NFL. However, based on Vegas’ projected win totals for the 2026 season, the Falcons have the 20th-easiest schedule in the league. Their six division games against the Saints, Buccaneers, and Panthers are all winnable, but it doesn’t get easier outside of that. They have to take on the NFC North, which has four playoff-calibre teams, and the AFC North with another strong quartet. They take on the 49ers, Buccaneers, Bengals, and Chiefs consecutively before their Week 11 bye, then have an easier end to the year. 

2026 Atlanta Falcons Odds

The Atlanta Falcons have a 7.5 win total with +120 odds on the over after two consecutive 8-9 seasons. The oddsmakers are expecting a slight decrease in the Falcons' record, but the race couldn’t be tighter in the NFC South. The Buccaneers are division favorites (+190) with the Saints (+250), Panthers (+310), and Falcons (+350) not far behind. 

In terms of the postseason, Atlanta has +240 odds to make the playoffs and -320 odds to fall short, and sky-high +3500 NFC odds and +8000 Super Bowl odds. Even if the Falcons make the playoffs, they aren’t being given much of a chance to go on a deep playoff run. 

2026 Atlanta Falcons Season Predictions and Best Bets

The Atlanta Falcons are projected to finish 7-10 this year, but I can’t agree with that total. Atlanta got better at the skill positions; they have a new head coach with a strong defensive pedigree, and no longer have a quarterback carousel to deal with. Moving on after a huge dead-cap hit on Kirk Cousins will never be easy, but the Falcons have enough in-house talent to still make a run. The Saints are expected to have one of the biggest resurgences this season, which is a ton of speculation; the Buccaneers continue to trend down in the post-Tom Brady era, and I am not quite sold on Bryce Young’s credentials as a legitimate NFL starter.

That leaves the Falcons. 

Atlanta is being overlooked due to their off-field issues and general buzz elsewhere in the NFC South, but there are real arguments they should be the division favorites. Their secondary was elite last year and should only get better, and they will now be guided by Stefanski. Their skill positions on offense are some of the best in the league, and a towering offensive line should keep Tagovailoa upright. I am a bit concerned about the middle of their defense if Pearce Jr. misses time, but there are enough positives to take a stab with this team.

In terms of how to attack, we will stick to the regular season. This team’s ceiling isn’t high enough to go on a deep playoff run, but they are good enough to have a winning regular season. The +120 odds on over 7.5 wins feel like low-hanging fruit, and the +350 division odds give us enough upside rather than chasing an alternate win total. Take both of those props at plus money odds for one of my more confident NFL props heading into the season.
