Best NFL Teaser Bets Week 4: Basic Strategy Teasers Advice
We are not even halfway through the season and a good chunk of teams are already in panic mode with the quarterback situation, with several starters banged up and some possibly out for the year. Things like that always come back to haunt bettors, and Vegas has been raking it in on games nobody expected to go the way they did. Between Jacksonville demolishing the Patriots in Week 3 with a 30-plus point win and the Bears embarrassing the Eagles with Case Keenum under center, hardly anybody was set up to make money last week.
Heading into Week 4, I have the right teasers here to make things a little easier on your pocket. Six games fit the criteria this time around, and every single one of them is an underdog, which does not happen often. Let's get right into it.

What is a Teaser?
Ever look at a spread and think it would be perfect if you could just move it a few points your way? That is exactly what a teaser does. You take two or more sides, shift every spread in whichever direction helps you, and hand back some of the payout in exchange.
The part most people get wrong is treating it like a normal parlay and loading up on legs. Every team added is another chance to lose the whole ticket, and no amount of extra points fixes that.
What is a Basic Strategy Teaser?
Three and seven are the most common margins of victory in football for obvious reasons, with field goals and touchdowns making up the bulk of the scoring. Basic strategy is nothing more than making sure your six points travel through both of those numbers instead of stopping short.
Take team A sitting at +2. Adding six moves it to +8, which means that team can lose on a last-minute touchdown and your ticket still cashes. Flip it for a favorite laying -8, and those same six points drop it to -2, so team A only needs a field goal instead of a full touchdown.
Two legs, six points apiece. Underdogs need to be at +1.5 to +2.5, favorites at -7.5 to -8.5. Before building anything, though, always heck the price. A two-team six-pointer should sit around -110, and once it gets worse than -120 those points cost more than they are worth.
Potential Week 4 NFL Teaser Games
Steelers (-2.5) at Browns (-2.5) Total: 38.5
Cleveland has won two in a row and Pittsburgh is 0-4 in its last four trips here, scoring 19 points or fewer in all five of its most recent visits. Moving the Browns to +8.5 at home in a rivalry like this is the safest leg of the bunch.
Cowboys (+2.5) at Texans (-2.5) Total: 44.5
Nothing has worked for Houston through three weeks, with the offense posting six points against Cincinnati in Week 2 and doing almost nothing in Indianapolis last week. Dallas moving to +8.5 against a team that cannot score could be comfortable spot for any bettor to be in.
Jaguars (+2.5) at Bengals (-2.5) Total: 44.5
A 35-6 beatdown of New England was by far the biggest shock of Week 3 and quite the statement from Jacksonville, but this game carries the highest total on the entire Week 4 board for a reason. Two offenses that are lethal through the air means more points on the scoreboard, and six does a lot less work in a game like that, so I am passing here.
Broncos (+2.5) at 49ers (-2.5) Total: 47.5
Give Denver credit for erasing a 16-0 halftime hole against the Rams on Sunday night, whereas San Francisco continues to lose players to injury every week with Nick Bosa and Dre Greenlaw sidelined. With the Broncos teased up to +8.5 against a banged-up 49ers team that is bound for a loss, this may just be my favorite leg of the bunch.
Falcons (+2.5) at Saints (-2.5) Total: 48.5
Anybody who wrote Atlanta off got a wake-up call last week, with Michael Penix looking like a superstar in the pocket against the Packers and Bijan Robinson doing his usual damage on the ground. Moving to +8.5 in a division game on Monday night is playable, but New Orleans at home makes me hesitate.
Giants (+1.5) at Cardinals (-1.5) Total: 44.5
Ugly was the theme for both teams last weekend, with Arizona coming up short after a 23-6 comeback and the Giants barely surviving the Titans on a last-second red zone stop. Both teams are hurting at the quarterback position, and the Cardinals only reach +7.5 here, which could make for another slopfest.
