2026 Carolina Panthers Predictions with Best Bets and Odds to Win the Super Bowl

The Carolina Panthers are coming off their first playoff appearance in eight years after topping the NFC South with an 8-9 record. The Panthers lost in overtime against the Super Bowl favorite Rams, but there are plenty of positives to take away. They still have not finished above .500 since 2017, but a wide-open division combined with a developing core puts Carolina right back in the mix this season. Will the Panthers be able to build on their momentum to claim back-to-back division titles, or will it be another lost season in Carolina? Let’s dive in.

Carolina Panthers Offseason Recap

The Panthers were relatively quiet in the offseason as their budding young squad can potentially take the next steps with talent they already have in the locker room. However, they still plugged a few holes with some crucial signings. 

The first and biggest name added to the roster was Jaelan Phillips at linebacker or edge rusher. Phillips has logged five or more sacks in the last four seasons he completed, but his best work comes in the run game. Phillips has incredible versatility in the middle of the field, making him one of the few linebackers capable of stopping the run and rushing the quarterback. He had several impactful seasons with the Dolphins before joining the Eagles last year, and will be hoping that Carolina will be his new home after inking a massive 4-year, $120 million contract. That puts Phillips as the fourth-highest-paid linebacker in the country, placing immediate pressure on him to perform as such. 

Carolina also signed Devin Lloyd to play with Phillips in the middle of the field, and the former Jaguar complements Phillips nicely. Lloyd logged five interceptions last year with incredible ball-hawking skills, and is coming for half the price compared to what the Panthers are paying Phillips. 

On offense, the Panthers are running it back with a similar core, with the exception of Rico Dowdle departing for Pittsburgh. Dowdle and Chuba Hubbard formed a dynamic duo in the backfield last season, with Hubbard eclipsing 500 yards and Dowdle reaching over 1,000 yards. This season, Carolina will have Jonathan Brooks and Trevor Etienne to split the RB2 snaps. The Panthers also acquired Kenny Pickett to back up Bryce Young, whose fifth-year option they picked up to keep him under contract through 2027. 

Carolina Panthers Season Expectations

Making the playoffs and winning the division is always the primary goal for any team heading into an NFL season, but the Panthers will not have expected to do so with an 8-9 record. This means that despite their success, the Panthers will almost certainly need to be better this year to repeat as NFC South champions. 

The Bryce Young trade rightfully got plenty of criticism when it happened, but that noise is starting to quiet down as Young put together his best year yet in 2025. He recorded 3,000+ passing yards for the first time in his career, and also had career-highs in completion percentage (63.6%) and passing touchdowns (23). His development has been a welcome sight for Panther fans, but he still has a long way to go before they will be able to truly challenge for playoff success. 

On defense last year, the Panthers were a middle-of-the-pack squad in points, yards, and other major categories. While they made some improvements, this is still an average side at best that will not be able to lean on their offense to pick up the slack. Carolina scraped their way to a division title thanks to tiebreakers, and they will need their defense to step up if they want to do so again. They bolstered the middle of their defense with new linebackers, but they still have a truly abysmal pass rush. Without pressure on the quarterback, even the best open-field defenders will still struggle to get the stops they need. 

2026 Carolina Panthers Schedule Breakdown

The Panthers have the benefit of playing in the NFC with the Buccaneers, Falcons, and Saints. Their division has been the laughing stock of the NFL for the last few seasons, with two of the last four champions finishing with a losing record. However, the rest of the division is expected to improve, and the Panthers have an incredibly difficult schedule otherwise. The NFC South teams face the NFC North and AFC North, both of which have two legitimate Super Bowl contenders in the division. Also, as a reward for winning the NFC South last year, the Panthers have extra games against other division winners like the Eagles, Seahawks, and Broncos. Long story short, even with a weak division, the Panthers have the third-hardest schedule in the league based on this year’s win totals. 

2026 Carolina Panthers Odds

The Carolina Panthers are not expected to replicate their playoff berth from last year with +220 odds to qualify for the postseason. The most likely path is with a division crown, where Carolina has +300 odds to win the NFC South. In terms of their win total, it’s currently sitting at 7.5 wins with +120 odds on the over and -145 odds on the under. Carolina surpassed 7.5 wins last season for the first time since 2017, making the extra juice on the under appear reasonable. In terms of their potential downfall, Carolina has +1800 odds to finish with the worst regular season record, the sixth-shortest odds in the NFL. If the Panthers do make the playoffs as +220 underdogs, they are not expected to go deep. They have +3500 odds to win the NFC and +7500 Super Bowl odds. 

2026 Carolina Panthers Season Predictions and Best Bets

Scheduling is everything in the NFL, and unfortunately for the Panthers, their season might be over before it even begins. The divisional games in the NFC South are always dogfights, but it will be very hard to stay confident about the Panthers in their non-division games. It is hard to circle eight or more wins on their schedule, allowing us to comfortably take under 7.5 wins at -145 odds. The Panthers defense is an average side with a terrible pass rush; their offense arguably got worse from last year after losing Rico Dowdle, and unless Young takes another huge step forward, this team will struggle. While I like the 7.5 win total, I don’t like taking -145 straight wagers that locks up your bankroll for six months, so we will instead look at under 6.5 wins at +120. Assuming the Panthers split their division games 3-3, which already might be a stretch, and beat the Browns, they still need three more wins to get up to seven. Their next three easiest opponents are the Vikings, Steelers, and I guess the Bears, none of which will be comfortable victories. I expect the Panthers to regress down to 5-12 or even 4-13 this season, making alternative unders the way to go. We won’t take them to have the worst record as I don’t see them collecting less than four wins over 17 games, and someone else undoubtedly will finish worse.
