by Matt Zitt - 9/14/2023
Classes are back in session, and the return of college basketball is right around the corner. Could this year see the revival of some dormant blueblood programs? Oddsmakers certainly think so, as three of the top four betting favorites are the Duke Blue Devils, Kansas Jayhawks, and the Kentucky Wildcats. Purdue will try to redeem themselves after getting bounced by a No. 16 seed in last year’s tournament. The reigning National Player of the Year, Zach Edey, is returning to the Boilermakers. Doc’s Sports will look below at some of the best teams to take a chance on to cut down the nets in March.

2023 Missouri Valley Conference Tournament Predictions
by Robert Ferringo - 3/1/2023
It isn’t always pretty basketball, but the Missouri Valley Conference Tournament always comes through when you are looking for drama and emotion. This tournament, which has its championship game this coming Sunday, really tips off the start of March Madness and hammers home the reality facing every team in the country over the next month: if you lose, your season may be over.
College Basketball Betting Advice: Betting on Bubble Teams
by Robert Ferringo - 2/22/2023
For the uninitiated, a “bubble team” is a college basketball team that is on the fringe of an NCAA Tournament at-large bid. Because the criteria for selection into the tournament is subjective, there is no real way of knowing who is in and who is out heading down the stretch. This isn’t like, say, the race for the playoffs in MLB or NBA, where a team’s record is the sole determination of who makes the postseason and who doesn’t.
LEAKED: Opening Night College Basketball Spreads
by Robert Ferringo - 10/31/2022
Well, about nine years ago I cracked the code on how the initial oddsmakers come up with their opening college basketball spreads. No, I’m not going to tell you how I came about this information or where it is from. But I am feeling generous enough to share. So below are what will be the opening spreads for the beginning of the college basketball season on Monday, Nov. 7 and Tuesday, Nov. 8.

Biggest Comebacks in College Basketball History
by Mike Pruitt - 10/25/2021
Is there a more exciting time in the world of American sports than March Madness? I don’t think so. You can say Bowl Season is cool. However, does it really bring about the type of attention you get from sports fans as the NCAA Tournament? No! It's not even close. There are some massive college football games that garner a great amount of attention, and I love that too. However, are we really going to see the number of upsets that we do in that 3-4 week period that is the NCAA tourney?
Weekend College Basketball Primer
by Robert Ferringo - 2/25/2021
March is just days away. And that means that March Madness is here! The coronavirus pandemic robbed us of the conclusion of conference tournaments, the NCAA Tournament, and all the weirdo, second-tier tournaments last year. So now I feel the pent of gambling energy of two years built up inside of me. And I am ready to unleash the fury during one of the greatest sports betting months on the calendar.
2021 NCAA Tournament Projections and Predictions
by Robert Ferringo - 2/23/2021
What a mess. The college basketball season has been a disjointed, uneven roller coaster ride through the heart of one of the worst public health crises in the history of our country. But hey, we’ve made it this far. And now the hope is that everything will fall into place so that we can enjoy the conference tournaments and NCAA Tournament that we were robbed of last March.
2020 Big Ten Basketball Predictions
by Robert Ferringo - 11/24/2020
The Big Ten should be set to mark a significant anniversary this coming April when the Final Four heads to Indianapolis. It has been 20 years since a Big Ten team won a men’s college basketball National Championship. Michigan State, who entered last year as the No. 1 team in the country and the favorite to win the title, was the last Big Ten team to cut down the nets. That was all the way back in 2000.
2020 ACC Basketball Predictions
by Robert Ferringo - 11/24/2020
One thing that you can always count on, even in these erratic and insecure times, is that the boys from Tobacco Road will play a heavy hand determining who wins the ACC championship this year. Duke and North Carolina welcome in nine of the Top 50 and 11 of the Top 70 freshmen in the country, with several one-and-done prospects suiting up in their preferred shade of blue.
2020 Big East Basketball Predictions
by Robert Ferringo - 11/20/2020
The big offseason storyline for Big East college basketball is the return of prodigal son Connecticut. After seven mostly awkward years of frolicking in the American Athletic Conference, the Huskies are back where they belong, matching up with what remains of traditional Big East rivals like Georgetown, Seton Hall and Villanova.
2020 Big 12 Basketball Predictions
by Robert Ferringo - 11/20/2020
With just 10 teams in the league, the Big 12 is, pound for pound the best college basketball conference in the country yet again. However, there is a new favorite entering the season. Baylor, not Kansas, is expected to dominate Midwest hoops this season, and they enter the year as the preseason No. 1 team in the country, according to the coaches’ poll.
Free College Basketball Picks Wednesday 3/11/2020 and Opening Line Report
by Jason Radowitz - 3/11/2020
March 11 features just one mid-major championship game. However, Wednesday is the start of the many major conference tournaments, including the Pac-12, Big Ten, Big East, Big 12 and the SEC. The ACC began yesterday with North Carolina and Pittsburgh moving on to the second round of the tournament. North Carolina is a 14-seed in the ACC but is a favorite in the second round of the tournament. I don't think I've ever seen that before. Here are the early leans for some of March 11's most exciting college basketball matchups.
2020 Big East Tournament Predictions and Betting Odds
by Robert Ferringo - 3/10/2020
The Big East is currently ranked as the No. 3 conference in the country, behind the Big Ten and Big 12. However, I think that this is by far the strongest top-to-bottom league in college basketball. And if I'm right, this week's Big East Tournament should make for one of the wildest championships in the nation.
2020 Atlantic 10 Tournament Predictions and Betting Odds
by Robert Ferringo - 3/10/2020
Last year was a low point for the Atlantic 10. They had their streak of 12 straight years or being ranked as one of the Top 10 college basketball conference in the country snapped. They also watched as both of their NCAA Tournament representatives, No. 8 seed VCU and No. 13 seed St. Louis, were blown out by double-digits in their first round tourney games.

This year's edition of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Tournament gets underway on March 10 with three games being played in the first round of the tournament. This is a very unique set up as the top five teams get a bye right into the quarterfinals, with seeds one through three taking on the winners of the first-round games, while seeds four and five play each other.
