No. 2 Overall Pick
There is no doubt that Caleb Williams is going to the Bears at No. 1 overall. Then the real draft starts. The Washington Commanders own the No. 2 pick in the draft, and everyone on the planet is expecting them to take a quarterback. But which one? A few weeks ago, Drake Maye was the favorite to land at No. 2 overall. The Commanders might have tipped off who they are taking by signing Marcus Mariota as their backup QB for the upcoming campaign. Jayden Daniels of LSU won every major college award for the QB position and the Heisman Trophy. His game closely resembles that of Mariota’s compared to Maye. Since the signing, Daniels odds went from underdog to favorite as the No. 2 selection.
Pick: Jayden Daniels -150
No. 4 Overall Pick
Quarterbacks should go off the board with the first three picks of the draft. There are a ton of reports of teams trying to trade up for a QB, but I am not buying that Arizona sells the pick. The Cardinals should be desperate to turn things around and have put all their confidence into the hands of Kyler Murray. With Marquise Brown heading to the Kansas City Chiefs, this organization does not have a No. 1 wide receiver on their roster. Enter Marvin Harrison Jr. He took home all the college wide receiver awards in 2023 and came out and said he wants to play for the Cardinals. He has the skill set to be a Day 1 go-to wideout at the pro level. Malik Nabers could be a dark horse at this selection, but he does have some medical concerns. Arizona should take Harrison Jr. at this pick.
Pick: Marvin Harrison Jr. -225
No. 5 Overall Pick
The Chargers were supposed to be Super Bowl contenders last season, and then the wheels fell off. The team went 5-12 last year, and now Jim Harbaugh has the reins after leading Michigan to a national title. This is a massive first pick for Harbaugh, and he should lean offense even though he is a defensive-minded coach. The Chargers lost all their offensive playmakers in Austin Ekeler, Mike Williams, and Keenan Allen. The Chargers and Justin Herbert need a wide receiver with Josh Palmer and Quintin Johnston as the only semi-reliable options on the team. Marvin Harrison Jr. should go No. 4 to Arizona and the Chargers should take Malik Nabers out of LSU. He has been compared to his former teammate Justin Jefferson and is a bonafide Day 1 starter. This pick tells Justin Herbert that the organization and Harbaugh has his back after subtracting two 1,000-yard receivers from the roster earlier in the offseason.
Pick: Malik Nabers +230
Jared Verse, Over/Under 15.5 Draft Position
This is one of my favorite props for the speedy edge rusher out of Florida State. NFL.com has Verse ranked as the No. 1 edge rushing prospect in the draft, and this position is a top-three need for half the teams in the draft. He recorded 41 tackles, including 12.5 for loss with 9.0 sacks, 11 QB hurries, three pass breakups, one forced fumble, one fumble recovery, and one blocked kick. His motor and production are up there with the best of them. His measurables at 6-foot-4 and 254 pounds and an arm length of 33.5 inches are below average in those categories for his position. Will actual results on the football field or analytics win out? I believe he will be in the top-15 on Thursday night.
Pick: Under 15.5 +150
Big Ten First Rounders Over or Under 5.5
I have six Big Ten players in my top-25 prospects for Thursday night’s draft. Wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. out of Ohio State, QB J.J. McCarthy of Michigan, CB Cooper DeJean of Iowa, OT Olumuyiwa Fashanu of Penn State, Edge rusher Chop Robinson of Penn State, and DL Johnny Newton of Illinois are all first-round prospects. With those six above, there are also some dark horses that could be taken on Day 1 such as Rutgers CB Max Melton and Minnesota safety Tyler Nubin. Give me the over on the Big Ten on Draft Day.
Pick: Over 5.5 -125
