NFL Playoff Predictions 2023: Philadelphia Eagles Futures Odds and Picks
Philadelphia Eagles:
Odds to win Super Bowl: +500
Odds to win NFC: +160
The Philadelphia Eagles enter the postseason with the 3rd best Super Bowl odds at +500 and are the favorites to win the NFC at +160. The Eagles started off the year 8-0, before losing to the Commanders, and then improving to 13-1. They finished the season 14-3, which was good enough to clinch the No. 1 seed in the NFC, despite Jalen Hurts’ late season injury. Hurts was the MVP favorite for portions of the year, but his late injury tilted the scales in Patrick Mahomes’ favor. The Eagles will be looking for their second ever Super Bowl after winning their first in the 2017-18 season.

Path to the Super Bowl:
The Eagles got the valuable No. 1 seed in the NFC, ensuring they will need to win just 2 home games to make the Super Bowl. They will get the lowest remaining seed in the divisional round, which will likely be the Giants, Buccaneers, or Cowboys. After that, they’ll face the lone remaining team, likely the 49ers or Vikings. The path for the Eagles has never been easier, as the NFC is much more top heavy than usual right now.
Regular Season Recap:
The Eagles were the lone undefeated team heading into Week 10, before the Commanders ended their perfect record. The team didn’t miss a beat, winning their next 5 games, and sat 13-1 heading into the final weeks of the season. Star quarterback Hurts got an injury, and they dropped 2 of their final 3 games, before ending the season on a win against the Giants. The Eagles made a shocking trade to pick up AJ Brown from the Titans, and he immediately set the franchise record for single season receiving yards with 1,496 yards. The Hurts to DeVonta Smith connection continued to flourish, equipping the Eagle with a deadly receiving corps. On the ground, Miles Sanders and Boston Scott churned up the turf, forming a deadly one-two punch in the trenches. The dynamic offense in Philadelphia is centered around Hurts, who routinely uses his legs to get out of sticky situations. He was second in the league among all players with 13 rushing touchdowns, 5 more than the next QB. Hurts’ health was critical for the team's success, and we quickly found out what happened to this team without him when he went down. A 2nd ranked offense and 8th ranked defense is a recipe for success in the postseason, and the Eagles will feel confident they can make a deep Super Bowl run.
Playoff Outlook:
The Eagles felt disrespected by the oddsmakers for a majority of the regular season and feel the same way now. Despite having the best record for the entire season, the Eagles were never Super Bowl favorites. Now that the bracket has been set, they are NFC favorites but are still coming in with a criminally low +500 odds. They are just 2 home games away from the Super Bowl, and the only team who should cause them problems is the 49ers. Hurts has the ability to carve up the otherwise weak NFC defenses, and a spot in the NFC Championship Game feels like a forgone conclusion. The Eagles have the pieces needed to become Super Bowl champions, and it will all come down to execution. Head Coach Nick Sirianni is the frontrunner for Coach of the Year, as he has drilled his players well. Sanders continues to dominate on the ground, and the always mobile Hurts makes this offense incredibly difficult to contain. The one ‘weak’ spot is the Eagles’ offensive line, as injuries have forced them into rotations. They are in the bottom half in sacks allowed, and dangerous pass rushers like Micah Parsons and Nick Bosa will be licking their lips at the chance to take down Hurts. If the Eagles continue to play smart, tight football, there is no reason to doubt the aspirations of this team.
Best Bets:
The Eagles have immense value at +500 to win the Super Bowl, and I will certainly be betting this prop. They avoid a crowded AFC, have home field advantage for the entire playoffs, and secured the #1 seed in the NFC. I often wonder why this team is not closer to the top of the betting odds list, but I’ll happily take advantage. Another bet to make, as I detailed in the 49ers article, is for the Eagles and 49ers to face off in the NFC championship at +135 odds. I have no doubt that these two teams are the best in the NFC, and getting plus money on them to win a combined 3 playoff games before meeting in the NFC championship feels too good to be true. They will be favorites in every game before this, making this one of the best bets in the playoffs.
