Week 3 in the NFL may be the most perplexing. There's a reason you never see a two-game postseason series. I like Week 1 wagers because we have so much time to prepare. Then comes the classic overreaction in Week 2 betting. The sportsbooks cleaned up this past weekend. That will work in their favor this week as well, with more bettors scratching their heads and surely several already on tilt.

The Atlanta Falcons come into this season with high expectations. They signed Captain Kirk Cousins to a big deal. Dual-threat running back Bijan Robinson is back for his sophomore season. The offensive line rates as one of the best in the league. Last week, The home Falcons were favored to beat the Pittsburgh Steelers by four points. The Falcons’ offense barely managed double-digits in the 18-10 loss.

Week 1 is here! The 2024 Kickoff Game is tonight, we have our first trip to South America Friday night, a load of closely-lined matchups Sunday, and the NFL saved the best for last, in my opinion. In the first week of Monday Night Football, Aaron Rodgers returns to the competition for the first time in a year on the road in San Francisco to play the 49ers.

Even better, the team that would, in all likelihood, be the betting underdog in the big game, is the home team this week.

As we enter the final four weeks of the NFL regular season, there are no more bye weeks, and we surprisingly have a large number of teams that are still mathematically in the playoff picture. I'm looking now at the NFL.com playoff picture page, and it says the Carolina Panthers are the only NFC team that has been eliminated from postseason contention.

This Monday Night, we get to see what should have been a marquee matchup in the AFC. The Bengals without their quarterback, though, just aren’t the same team. I didn't have them rated that highly to begin with. They can't run the ball to save their life. What does that tell you? You have maybe the best passer of the football under center. He makes very good decisions, and his arm is incredibly dangerous.

Week 12 might be the most fun of them all so far this season. I suppose it is hard to beat Week 1 in the NFL, but for Week 12, we have 3 Thanksgiving Day division games, a division game on Black Friday, along with your regularly scheduled Sunday and Monday Night Football games. The final game of the week is another division rivalry game between two resurgent squads.

This is the midseason Super Bowl! These two teams are betting favorites to win their respective conferences and rematch in Super Bowl LVIII. The Philadelphia Eagles are 2.5-point underdogs at (-110), the same betting odds some sportsbooks have them to win the NFC. They seemed to stumble out of the gate. However, with their schedule front-loaded against weaker opponents, they usually found a way to win.

The Buffalo Bills just won’t go away. At least they are finally gaining some consistency. I fret because I haven’t been able to get this team right all year. It started with their matchup with the New York Jets in Week 1. I don't think any team has been featured in primetime any more than the Bills.

Last week’s game versus the Giants was somehow uglier than the 13-10 final score in overtime.

The Detroit Lions put a screeching halt to their hype last week when they took a massive drubbing, as the Baltimore Ravens gnawed them clean to the bone. They were coming off 4 straight wins by 14 or more points, and then they ran into Baltimore. The final score was 38-6, but it felt even worse than that for Lions fans, I imagine.

I could really use a break from the San Francisco 49ers. The wound is still so fresh. I thought teasing them down to a pick’em with Cleveland Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson was a good idea. So much happened in the Browns' favor. Their Hall of Fame left tackle, Trent Williams, had his leg rolled on and then had to defend Brock Purdy's blind side against one of, if not the best, edge rusher in the league, Myles Garrett.

It is now Week 6 of the NFL regular season, and neither the Dallas Cowboys nor Los Angeles Chargers can afford a third loss this early in the season. If the Cowboys play themselves out of home-field advantage in the playoffs against San Francisco and the Philadelphia Eagles, that means they would also have to go through both teams to get to the Super Bowl.

We are now 3-3 on our Monday Night Football predictions. That is after I wrote that I believe Seattle is the better team with betting odds of (+1.5). Then, I still chose to play the super public over 47 points bet. It didn't come close to hitting, and neither did the Giants, as the better team cruised to a 24-3 win. That one hurt. Anytime you believe you have the better team and the points, just take it. We win or we learn, though, but either way, we move on.

The LA Rams couldn't match the level of the Bengals on Monday night. We were hoping that Joe Burrow wouldn't play. He did, but I don't think his play was necessarily the difference for Cincinnati. His presence under center and not wanting to start the season 0-3 led to a fired-up Bengals team that played very well.

That is what I love about the NFL. Division play starts almost immediately. College Football has been fun this year. We are winning our bets, but how many high-level or rivalry games have we seen thus far? In just Week 2 of the NFL, though, we are treated to a "doubleheader" of Monday Night Football action. The first game is an inter-division rivalry matchup between the Carolina Panthers and the New Orleans Saints.
