Free NFL Prop Predictions - Week 10
by Jay Horne - 11/13/2009
Hopefully you took Week 9 off in our prop selections as we had the worst week of the year going 0-3 for the first time this season for these free sports picks. However, we warned it would be a difficult week in the NFL and are confident we can right the ship heading forward to Week 10. The game everyone is talking about will be the battle for AFC supremacy when the Indianapolis Colts host the New England Patriots this Sunday night. The big game will feature two of the top quarterbacks and we have some side action predicting who will shine brightest Sunday night. Also, we have many more NFL betting lines to shine light on this week as we strive to get back in the profit column. All early betting lines can be found at Bodog Sportsbook for Week 10 of the NFL.
Prop Bet No. 1 - Who will throw more touchdown passes?
Tom Brady - (+105)
Peyton Manning - (-125)
The top two quarterbacks over the course of the past decade in the AFC collide in a classic showdown this week when Indianapolis hosts New England Sunday night. Both Brady and Manning are having strong seasons, as always. Both quarterbacks have 16 touchdowns apiece and own the top two spots in the NFL for yards per game. The Colts will be the slight favorites this weekend as their defense holds the advantage heading into the contest. The Colts pass defense ranks first in the NFL and is the reason that Manning is expected to throw more scores this weekend. Sometimes the numbers may be misleading, but not in this case. The Colts defense held opposing quarterbacks to just one touchdown in each of the last two games against offenses that ranked in the Top 10 in the NFL, Houston and Arizona. Plus, Manning has been brilliant through his career facing the Patriots, throwing at least two touchdowns in six of the last seven meetings. Brady only threw for one score last week against a solid Miami defense and to expect much more against the Indianapolis defense would be a stretch. Expect a low scoring game and take Manning for your pick to outperform.
Pick - Peyton Manning
Prop Bet No. 2 - Denver Broncos total points vs. Washington Redskins
Over 20 (-115)
Under 20 (-115)
The Denver Broncos have taken a step back over the last two weeks, losing back-to-back games to Baltimore and Pittsburgh. However, as all good teams will do, the Broncos are poised to bounce back this week when they take on the Redskins, a team that has had plenty of troubles this season. The Broncos offense has not been the strong point of the team this year, averaging just 19 points per game. However, the Broncos defense remains one of the top units in the league. The strong defense will now tackle one of the worst teams in the NFC at holding onto the football. The Redskins have given the ball away 16 times on the year and the Broncos defense should not help those numbers improve. The Redskins have lost four straight games and have given up 58 points over the last two contests. Not only will Denver be hungry to stop their losing slide, but the Redskins will make some mistakes and this one could get out of hand quick.
Pick - Over 20
Prop Bet No. 3 Who will have more rushing yards?
Cedric Benson -4 ½ (+105)
Rashard Mendenhall +4 ½ (-135)
The Pittsburgh Steelers and Cincinnati Bengals will square off this weekend in an AFC North showdown. Both teams enter the contest off huge wins thanks to big performances from their running backs. Cedric Benson led the Bengals with 117 yards and a touchdown over the Ravens. Rashard Mendenhall ran wild over the Broncos, racking up 155 yards to capture a win for the Steelers. However, only one of these backs has been consistent this season. Benson has racked up more than 800 yards on the year and has really been impressive in recent weeks, reaching the century mark in three of the last four games. Benson was a big part of the 45-point blowout two weeks back over the Bears, running for 189 yards, and the Bengals have relied on the running game in recent weeks. One thing the Steelers do no rely on is their running game. QB Ben Roethlisberger is having a great season and Mendenhall has broken out sparingly throughout the season. Mendenhall has only rushed for more than 80 yards once this season outside of last week's performance and that was against the rather weak San Diego Chargers rush defense. The reason Benson is not a bigger favorite is because of the Steelers strong defense. However, the Bengals will continue to ride him this week despite how many big plays occur. Benson will get twice as many carries and likely twice as many yards.
Pick - Cedric Benson
