Monday Night Football NFL Picks and Predictions: Eagles at Redskins Betting Odds

Donavan McNabb got the best of his former team in the last meeting against the Eagles despite posting pedestrian numbers. If he wants a season sweep over the Eagles, McNabb will have to have a better game because this time Michael Vick will be starting for Philadelphia when Philadelphia (5-3) visit the Washington Redskins (4-4) Monday night at 8:30 p.m. EST in a critical NFC East matchup.
Kevin Kolb took the majority of the snaps in the Week 4 meeting won by Washington, 17-12. Vick attempted only five passes, but he is now the full-time starter and even a dark horse NFL MVP candidate.
The Washington Redskins enter this game amid swirling controversy about the benching of McNabb in the final two minutes of a loss at Detroit. There are also ongoing contract negotiations going on between McNabb and the Redskins.
Washington found a way to get past Philadelphia six weeks ago despite getting dominated in most statistical categories. The Eagles passed for 243 yards compared to McNabb’s 124-yard performance. The Eagles won the time of possession battle 33 minutes to 27 minutes, and they had 21 first downs compared to Washington’s 16. What hurt the Eagles were eight penalties for 80 yards and a pair of turnovers.
McNabb did not look like himself in his return to Philadelphia in Week 4, and it had nothing to do with him wearing a Redskins jersey. He was out of sorts and played like an aging has-been quarterback. Unfortunately for Washington, that has been a trend this entire season. He has thrown more interceptions (eight) than touchdowns (seven) and he is only completing 57 percent of his passes. Vick has yet to thrown an interception this season.
Eagles at Redskins: Injury Report
Last week’s bye could not have come at a better time for Washington. This team is ailing at almost every position, including quarterback where McNabb continues to nurse a hamstring. He is expected to play as is linebacker Brian Orakpo (back) and running back Ryan Torain (hamstring). There is a little more doubt about the availability of safety LaRon Landry (achillies) and tight end Chris Cooley (back). Despite not coming off of a bye week the Eagles appear to be in much better health with linemen Max Jean-Gilles (concussion) and King Dunlap (knee) both listed as questionable.
Eagles at Redskins Betting Odds and Line Moves
Even with a loss at home to Washington earlier this year and the game being played in Washington in front of a charged up Monday Night Football crowd, the Eagles opened as three-point favorites, according to NFL odds, and they were bet heavily throughout the week pushing the line up to 3.5. The total of 41.5 has also climbed up a full point to 42.5. NFL odds are courtesy of Sportsbook.com.
Philadelphia Eagles at Washington Redskins Betting Trends
Eagles are 5-1 ATS in their last six games as a road favorite

Redskins are 3-0-1 ATS vs. a team with a winning record
‘Over’ is 4-0 in Eagles last four games overall
‘Under’ is 6-2-1 in the last nine meetings between these two teams in Washington
Eagles are 10-4-1 ATS in the last 15 meetings in Washington
Underdog is 6-1-1 ATS in the last eight meetings
Monday Night Football NFL Picks and Predictions: Philadelphia Eagles at Washington Redskins
The Eagles definitely have the advantage in the quarterback department. However, overall the teams are mostly evenly matched up. The Washington defense has been opportunistic and Mike Shanahan has proven in his career he is one of the best coaches coming off a bye week. The Eagles could be in store for an emotional letdown after a home win over the Colts last week while the Redskins have had 14 days to think about their terrible loss at Detroit. Catching 3.5 points makes Washington even further attractive in this spot. The play is the Redskins plus the points.
