Monday Night Football Picks: Dallas Cowboys vs Philadelphia Eagles Best Bets

Heading into the season, this matchup looked like it could be an important game in determining the division standings at the end of the season. While that does still play a factor, this matchup has lost some luster. Both teams are limping into this matchup with 2-4 records, and the Philadelphia Eagles just learned they will be without Jalen Hurts for the rest of the season. Now their season rests in the hands of Tanner McKee.
Dallas has lost back-to-back games, totaling just 29 points. The offense continues to underwhelm despite star-studded personnel. With both teams struggling so far this season, and with the New York Giants and Washington Commanders also looking abysmal, the winner of this one will pick up a very important division win that could be a huge tiebreaking variable later in the season.

Monday Night Football Dallas Cowboys Game Preview
The Dallas Cowboys are coming into this matchup having lost their last two games in disappointing fashion. The offense was not clicking against the Green Bay Packers. They totaled 303 yards on offense but only scored 13 points. The Packers shut down the run game and forced Dak Prescott to throw the ball 54 times. Prescott completed 34 of his 54 passes, but only recorded 4.8 yards per pass, and he threw two interceptions. Javonte Williams only tallied 41 yards on 11 carries, though he did record a touchdown. Overall, the Cowboys have looked lackluster, despite having some big names on the roster. They rank just outside the Top 10 in the league in YPG (343.2) and PPG (25.2). Defensively, they rank towards the bottom of the league in allowed YPG (382.5), and they are allowing 26.5 PPG.
Luckily for the Cowboys, the Eagles offense is in shambles. The Eagles have had a injury-riddled season thus far, and they are without Hurts for the remainder of the season. That means the Cowboys just have to get past McKee. If they can hone in on Saquon Barkley, they can really limit the impact of the Eagles offense. More importantly, the Cowboys offense needs to get going. They need Williams to get established early in order to take some pressure off of Dak. If Dallas can get clicking on offense, the Philadelphia offense won’t be able to keep up.

- Get Dak Prescott in Rhythm
- Let Javonte Williams Run Wild
- Force Tanner McKee to Beat the Secondary

Monday Night Football Philadelphia Eagles Game Preview
The Eagles are literally limping into this one. Not only have they lost Hurts for the remainder of the year, but they have also lost their last four games. After a 2-0 start, the Eagles have dropped their last four contests, three of which have been at home. In McKee’s first action of the season, the Eagles totaled just 222 total yards. The Carolina Panthers held the Eagles to just 35 yards (2.7 YPC), and they dominated the time of possession battle. McKee did well to avoid turning the ball over, and the offense will get a boost with the return of Barkley this week. Overall, the Eagles rank 30th in YPG (255.5), and their 17.7 PPG ranks 29th. Defensively, the Eagles rank in the lower third of the league allowing 363.8 YPG, though they have a bit of a bend and don’t mantra as they have only allowed 22.8 PPG.
If the Eagles want to break out of their losing streak without their starting quarterback, the biggest thing they can do is rattle Prescott and contain the run. The Cowboys overloaded Prescott last week thanks to a weak ground game performance, and Philadelphia should be following a similar blueprint. They also need to get Barkley to take some pressure off of McKee. His return does give McKee another elite weapon to open up the offense a bit more.

Monday Night Football Game Predictions
This game is going to be ugly. Neither team has lived up to preseason expectations, and both teams have a lot of questions they need answered. However, I give the slight edge to the Cowboys in this one due to Hurts being off the field. While the Cowboys defense is abysmal, if their offense gets going, McKee won’t be able to win a shootout type of a game. Both teams will be trying to get their rushing attacks established, so expect a low scoring first half, but do expect Ceedee Lamb and George Pickens to have an impact in this game. Cowboys cover, and do most of the scoring in this one.
My Pick: Dallas Cowboys, -4.5 / Under 44.5
