Monday Night Football Picks: Buffalo Bills vs Minnesota Vikings Best Bets

Monday Night features two of the best teams in the NFL this season as the 6-1 Buffalo Bills travel to Minnesota to take on the 6-1 Vikings. Buffalo is coming into this one with a lot of momentum after dominating a Lamar Jackson-less Baltimore Ravens team. Minnesota, on the other hand, is facing adversity for the first time this season as they are coming off of a 19-15 loss to their division rival Detroit Lions. Kyler Murray is going to be the big storyline here. He is listed as questionable with some hamstring issues. If he can’t go, it looks like the Bills might get their second consecutive win against a backup quarterback. If he can go, it will be a battle of titans.

Monday Night Football Buffalo Bills Game Preview
The Buffalo Bills are coming off a huge 26-point win over the Baltimore Ravens in a game where both Jackson and Tyler Huntley were hurt. The Bills held the third-string quarterback, Joe Fagano, to little production. The defense allowed just 144 yards of offense. The Bills also controlled the clock for 37:36 minutes, and they forced three turnovers. Buffalo had 426 yards of offense, and they converted four out of their five fourth-down conversions. Josh Allen finished with 289 yards passing and two touchdowns. James Cook III finished with 80 yards rushing on 21 carries and recorded a touchdown. Dalton Kincaid and DJ Moore both totaled over 80 yards and recorded a receiving touchdown. Buffalo ranks second in the league in offense as they are averaging 393.1 YPG, and their 33.3 PPG sits atop the league. Defensively, Buffalo has allowed over 352 YPG and they have given up 25.9 PPG.
If Murray is out, the path to victory will be a lot easier. However, one of the biggest variables they need to focus on is letting Cook get his work in against a Minnesota defense that struggled last week against the run. Detroit managed to rush for 164 yards in the second half alone last week against the Vikings, and Buffalo should focus on getting the same production for Cook here. They also need to protect Allen against Minnesota’s pass rush. Brian Flores has put together one of the best pass rushes in the NFL, that will even rattle a veteran quarterback like Allen.
Buffalo Bills 3 Keys to Victory
- Let Cook Eat
- Protect Allen
- Contain Kyler Murray

Monday Night Football Minnesota Vikings Game Preview
The Minnesota Vikings suffered their first loss of the season after being stifled on offense. The Lions defense showed up in a big way in this one. They held the Vikings to just 266 total yards of offense. The Vikings also had the ball for just over 24 minutes, which kept them from gaining any real momentum offensively. Murray also got roughed up in this one, and he put up a modest stat sheet. Murray threw for 210 yards, two touchdowns, and an interception. The ground game was also nonexistent. Murray led the way with 35 rushing yards, and Aaron Jones Sr. and Jordan Mason combined for 42 more yards. Defensively, they held the Lions to just 19 points and James Pierre hauled in an interception. On the season, the Vikings have struggled on offense. They rank just 29th in the league in YPG (279.4) and they are averaging just 20 PPG. Defensively, they rank second in the league in YPG allowed (271.6) and their 13.3 PPG against is the lowest mark in the NFL.
If Minnesota wants to upend the Bills, they really need Murray to be healthy and to take care of the ball. If he is full go, they need him to be aggressive with extended plays with his legs, and making good decisions. They need to get Justin Jefferson and Jones going in this one. Jefferson has had very few impact games this season, and Jones did not get it done on the ground last week. The offense needs to get it’s stars going and open things up for Murray.
Minnesota Vikings 3 Keys to Victory
- Murray Needs to Run
- Jefferson Must Have an Impact Game
- Avoid Becoming One Dimensional Offensively

QB Kyler Murray – Questionable
S Theo Jackson – Questionable
Monday Night Football Game Predictions
I think the Vikings defense will keep them in this game for most of the 60 minutes. However, I do think their lack of offensive support will catch up to them against the Allen-led Bills. Buffalo just wins, and this is a statement game. Buffalo will win if Murray is out, but if Murray goes then they need to limit his impact and keep him contained in the pocket. Take the Bills to cover in this one and move to the top spot in the league standings.
