Basic Strategy Teasers: Best Options for Week 11
by George Monroy - 11/14/2013
Week 11 of NFL action has three excellent basic strategy teasers for bettors to wager on. Two of the three games involve underdogs being pushed past the seven-point mark, and all three present excellent value for bettors to wager on. This season basic strategy teasers have won at an 80 percent rate and have been one of the best NFL bets of the year. The teasers are positive expected value plays that use a specific set of spreads and move those numbers past the strongest NFL key numbers of three and seven. Basic strategy teasers use underdogs of 1.5 to 2.5 points and favorites of 7.5 to 8.5 points and either add or subtract six points to each line. The favorites are moved below three points while the underdogs are moved past the seven-point mark. Let’s take a closer look at this week’s basic strategy teaser games and figure out which have the best value to bet on.
Atlanta Falcons at Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Original spread: Buccaneers +1.5
Six-point teaser: Buccaneers +7.5
There is no reason to trust the Atlanta Falcons at this point in the season, even they are playing the one-win Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Arizona’s offense, defense and special teams are a complete mess, and the team still has not won a game on the road all year. The Falcons have not scored more than 13 points during their last three losses and gave up 33, 34 and 27 points during that span. The team’s last win was actually against the Buccaneers during a Week 7 home matchup that they won by eight points. The Falcons could win this game, but do not expected it to be by more than a touchdown.
New York Jets at Buffalo Bills
Original spread: Jets +1.5
Six-point teaser: Jets +7.5
The New York Jets have played surprisingly well under rookie quarterback Geno Smith. The team is sitting on a 5-4 record and is coming off of a huge win over the New Orleans Saints in Week 9. The Jets have alternated wins and losses since the first game of the season and are looking to put together a late-season playoff push. The team has the best rush defense in the NFL, which should go a long way in stopping Buffalo’s solid running attack. The Bills have lost three games in a row and have not managed to score more than 24 points all season. This is a situation where the Jets might be able to win the game outright, so taking them plus the 7.5 points is an excellent proposition to be on.
Kansas City Chiefs at Denver Broncos
Original spread: Broncos -8.5
Six-point teaser: Broncos -2.5
This is the must-see matchup of the week as the one-loss Denver Broncos host the still-undefeated Kansas City Chiefs. Broncos’ quarterback Peyton Manning has been dealing with ankle issues over the last week and even skipped practice. The former MVP is expected to play on Sunday, but the extent of his injury is still unknown. The Chiefs have not allowed any opponent to score more than 17 points this season and have one of the stingiest defenses in the league. The Broncos have been a well-oiled machine when playing at home and have beaten opponents by 22, 16, 30, 16 and 24 points this season. The Chiefs are probably not going to end the season undefeated and will lose sometime soon. This matchup feels like the spot where their nine-game win streak comes to an end.
