NFL Teasers Betting: Best Basic Strategy Options for Week 10
by George Monroy - 11/5/2014
The Green Bay Packers will headline this week's basic strategy teasers wagers as they host the Chicago Bears on Sunday as a 7.5-point favorite. Week 10 will also have two other teasers featuring the Buffalo Bills and Tampa Bay Buccaneers receiving more than a touchdown's worth of points at home. Basic strategy teasers are a two-team, six-point teaser that moves certain spreads past the strongest NFL key numbers of three and seven in order to anchor those new lines and create positive expected value. Let's take a closer look at this week's teaser options. All odds come from Sportsbook.ag.
Chicago Bears at Green Bay Packers
Six-point teaser : Packers -1.5
Basic strategy teasers have struggled to be profitable this season, but even with that information, there is still little reason to have confidence in the Bears in this situation. Historically, Aaron Rodgers has owned Chicago during his time as the starting quarterback in Green Bay, and the team already has an 11-point Week 4 victory over the Bears that wasn't as close as the final score indicated.
Chicago has lost four of its last five games-all of which were by double digits. The team is coming off a bye week and could keep the game close and maybe even cover the 7.5 points, but there is no reason to believe that the team fixes all their problems in the course of a week. Take Green Bay and do no overthink things.
Kansas City Chiefs at Buffalo Bills
Line : Bills +2
Six-point teaser : Bills +8
Kansas City is tied for the second-best ATS record in the NFL with a 6-2 mark and has been just as impressive on the road, where it has a 3-1 ATS mark and has covered in those situations by an average of nine points. Based on that information alone, this teaser feels a bit shaky. Both squads have a 5-3 record, yet Kansas City's level of difficulty is far more impressive.
The Bills are a good team, where as the Chiefs are flirting with being an elite team, and that difference may overcome the extra points Buffalo is receiving. Kyle Orton has helped the Bills improve after taking over the starting job, but the quarterback will be challenged when his faces the No.1 pass defense in the league. Taking Buffalo plus the points is not a bad spot, but do not be surprised if this teaser loses.
Atlanta Falcons at Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Line : Buccaneers +1.5
Six-point teaser : Buccaneers: +7.5
Atlanta and Tampa Bay have been horrendous during the first half of the season, which makes picking a side on this teaser so tricky. When two bad football teams match up, anything is possible-a close game, a blowout by either side or a complete disaster. Atlanta has not won a game since its Week 3 56-14 drubbing of Tampa Bay and is coming off a bye week.
The Buccaneers, on the other hand, haven't won since their Week 4 victory over Pittsburgh. It's hard to image Atlanta having another 40-point blowout on its record, so expect Tampa Bay to remember that game and look to get a small measure of revenge and play this matchup like its season depended on it. Sunday's home game may be Tampa Bay's "Super Bowl," so expect the Buccaneers to play hard and probably win the game outright.
