NFL International Games 2023: Odds and Expert Betting Predictions
Roger Goodell and the NFL has announced its 2023 five-game international schedule that features some intriguing matchups. London will play host to three games over a three-week span during Weeks 4-6. Frankfurt, Germany, will see the final two international games in Week 9 and 10, respectively. London will get to see quarterbacks Trevor Lawrence, Josh Allen, and Lamar Jackson over those three weeks while Germany might have the best matchup in the Dolphins vs the Chiefs in Week 9. We will look at the full slate of international games below for the 2023 NFL season.
Doc’s Sports offers NFL picks for every game on our NFL predictions page.
Week 4 (London): Atlanta Falcons vs Jacksonville Jaguars (-4.5)
The Jaguars exceeded expectations in 2022 and will get to spend multiple weeks in London with games in Week 4 and 5. The Jags will arrive in London with a clear franchise quarterback in Trevor Lawrence and a plethora of weapons in Calvin Ridley, Christian Kirk, Evan Engram and Travis Etienne Jr. The Falcons head into 2023 and would love to replicate the success that the Jags had in 2022. Atlanta made some noise, signing Jessie Bates and drafting stud running back Bijan Robinson. Their biggest question mark is at the quarterback position, which is why I expect the Jags to cover the spread. Keep an eye on the spread, though; this number could balloon if the Falcons come out of the gate cold to start the season.
Week 5 (London): Jacksonville Jaguars vs Buffalo Bills (-7.5)
I am on Jaguars alert overseas. This game screams shootout and points with all the offensive weapons on the field. I fully expect the Jaguars to cover this number with the playmakers they boast (see above). Josh Allen, Stefon Diggs, and company are not shy of the endzone as well. The Jags will also have the advantage of already being in London for 10+ days, while the Bills will have less time to adjust. I would not be surprised if the Jags win this game outright but grab the points to be safe.
Week 6 (London): Baltimore Ravens vs Tennessee Titans (+2.5)
This is an interesting play, because nobody knows who will lead the Titans offense come Week 6. Ryan Tannehill will start the campaign as the signal caller. However, after injuries and poor play, the coaching staff seems to have lost faith in the QB. Tennessee drafted Will Levis, and he could take over by the time they head to London. Lamar Jackson has his weapons and will want to put on a show across the pond. If the Titans make the quarterback change, expect this line to change, but I will be taking the Ravens to cover the spread regardless.
Week 9 (Germany): Miami Dolphins vs Kansas City Chiefs (-7.5)
This is 100% the best matchup internationally and should be another high scoring affair. I am sure Chiefs fans wanted the Tyreek Hill revenge game in Arrowhead, but they will have to book their tickets to Germany. I am all over the Dolphins covering the spread and the over total. There is no shortage of stars in this matchup, and touchdowns should be frequent. The Chiefs were one of the worst teams against the spread in 2022 despite winning the Super Bowl. Tua, Waddle, and Hill should do enough to keep this a one-score contest. Take the points.
Week 10 (Germany): Indianapolis Colts vs New England Patriots (-3.5)
This is assuming rookie quarterback Anthony Richardson is under center for the Colts in Week 10, which is what I expect. With that said, Bill Belichick’s Patriots teams are an astonishing 21-6 against rookie quarterbacks since he took over the reins in New England in 2000. I would be surprised if his defense was not locked in on Richardson. And even though I am not fully sold on Mac Jones, I believe they cover the number.
