2023 NFL Draft Betting Predictions: Tight Ends Odds
For the first time in a while, the 2023 tight end market is an exciting one to watch heading up to the NFL Draft. There is a ton of talent all around, from Notre Dame’s Michael Mayer, Utah’s Dalton Kincaid, and Iowa’s Sam LaPorta. In four of the last six NFL Drafts, a tight end has been selected in the first round. 2023 will provide one of the best classes for tight ends in recent memory, assuring at least one or more should fall off the board on Day 1. Teams that are in need that could pull the trigger in the first round include the Packers, Cowboys, and Bengals.

TE Favorites Analysis for the 2023 NFL Draft
Dalton Kincaid (-140)
Kincaid is no doubt in the Day 1 conversation for the 2023 NFL Draft in Kansas City. He was one of two polarizing tight ends at Utah, contributing more than 1,300 yards and 16 touchdowns the past two seasons. He needs to show improvement in the blocking game, but he displays a tough skill set with great point-of-catch skills. He had a very strong showing at the NFL Combine that could put him in the mix for the first tight end off the board. The Packers, Cowboys, Bengals, and Chiefs have shown strong interest in the future NFL tight end.
Michael Mayer (+150)
Mayer is your typical NFL-caliber tight end, standing at 6-foot-4 and 250 pounds. He was a multi-year All American at Notre Dame and provided a go-to target for the quarterback. He has displayed above average skills as a blocker in the running and passing game, which should entice NFL owners to draft him at the end of April. He has been described as the next Travis Kelce with tremendous contested-catch ability, strong hands and route running. In the 2022 season, Mayer had 67 receptions for 809 yards and nine touchdowns. The Packers and Bucs have expressed the most interest in the Notre Dame product.
Darnell Washington (+500)
Washington should be a Day 2 selection with rare size and absolute freak athleticism. Standing at 6-foot-7 and 265 pounds, he has excellent hands, route running and blazing speed. He has a ton of potential and could be the most productive NFL tight end out of this year’s bunch if he makes necessary adjustments. He has been criticized by scouts for footwork and technique, especially in the blocking game. He finished the 2022 season with a National Championship and had 28 catches for 454 yards and two touchdowns.
Luke Musgrave (+5000)
Musgrave impressed at the NFL Combine, running a 40-yard dash 4.61 seconds and a 10-yard split in 1.54 seconds. Ranked as the fourth-best tight end in the 2023 class, I would not be surprised to see his name called on Day 2 of the NFL Draft. He caught 22 passes for 304 yards and one touchdown in 10 games in the 2021 campaign. He started strong in 2022 with 11 receptions for 169 yards and one touchdown through two games before suffering a season-ending knee injury. Standing at 6-foot-6, his athleticism makes him a great red zone target as scouts compare him to Baltimore’s Mark Andrews. The Bucs and Broncos have had formal interviews with the Oregon State product.
Sam LaPorta (+5000)
LaPorta drew a lot of scout’s eyes after the NFL Combine, which saw his stock increase. In his last two seasons with Iowa, he has started 26 games, hauling in 111 receptions for 1,327 yards and four touchdowns. CBS Sports has reported that his display at the NFL Combine could have him jumping into a first-round selection. The Cowboys have expressed a lot of interest and have the 26th selection in the first round. With Dalton Schultz leaving in free agency, the Cowboys will need to fill a void at the tight end position.
