NFL Office Pool Picks Week 9 - Every Game Picked ATS!
We have reached the midway point of the NFL season, as we roll into Week 9. Last week, we went an even 7-7-2 ATS, bringing our season record to 61-57-4. It was a respectable week, but we will need 9+ wins this week to get us to 70 wins, and a place at the top of the standings. A tantalizing slate of games are ready to be examined as we head into Week 9.
Doc’s Sports offers NFL expert picks for every game on our NFL predictions page.
Pittsburgh Steelers (-2.5) Over Tennessee Titans
The Steelers will lean on their elite defense to make rookie QB Will Levis uncomfortable. Levis had a great debut, but a primetime road game against one of the best teams in the league will not go well for him. Regardless of who is under center for the Steelers, they have a complete team capable of winning and covering this matchup. Steelers 17, Titans 11
Kansas City Chiefs (-1.5) Over Miami Dolphins
Miami has been unable to beat up on the elite NFL teams and have instead flexed their offensive muscles against the bottom feeders. The Chiefs are among the best. And until the Dolphins can prove themselves in these marquee matchups, the Chiefs look to be a great pick. An angry Patrick Mahomes who just took his first career loss to the Broncos is not someone to bet against. Chiefs 30, Dolphins 25
Arizona Cardinals (+8) Over Cleveland Browns
The Cardinals shipped out Joshua Dobbs and have handed the reins back to a healthy Kyler Murray. We may have to wait until next week to see him back in action. However, regardless of who is under center, the Cardinals can keep this one close. They may be 1-7 on the season, but they have kept it within 8 points in half of their games so far. Are the Browns going to set themselves apart against Arizona? I don’t think so. Browns 20, Cardinals 16
New Orleans Saints (-7.5) Over Chicago Bears
The Saints are coming off a high octane win over the Colts and will look to extend their win streak against the Bears. Justin Fields is still on the shelf, and the Saints defense will be licking their lips at the chance to get their hands on Tyson Bagent. New addition Montez Sweat will have a great chance to secure his first sack with his new team against Derek Carr, but it won’t be enough as the Bears still lack the offense to make any waves this season. Saints 24, Bears 14
LA Rams (+3) Over Green Bay Packers
The Packers have lost 4 straight games, yet they are still a field goal favorite against the Rams. The LA offense has life. And as long as Matthew Stafford is good to go, there is no reason they should lose this game. The Packers lack the offensive fireworks needed to go toe to toe with the 2022 Super Bowl champions and will lose outright at home. Rams 23, Packers 13
Atlanta Falcons (-5) Over Minnesota Vikings
Both of these teams will be making changes at quarterback, but for very different reasons. The Falcons have turned to Taylor Heinicke over Desmond Ridder, while the Vikings lost franchise quarterback Kirk Cousins to a season-ending injury. The Falcons have a balanced offense. And when the ball is in Heinicke’s hands, he will make the smart throws he needs. The Vikings were a very pass heavy offense, and there is no telling how they will look without Cousins. Give me the Falcons by a touchdown. Falcons 24, Vikings 17
Seattle Seahawks (+5.5) Over Baltimore Ravens
The Seahawks deserve to be underdogs against the Ravens, but this spread is a tad extreme. Both teams are leading their division by a fine margin and will be desperate to get the victory. Seattle has the personnel on both sides of the ball to tangle with the Ravens, but the season Lamar Jackson has been putting together will not be slowed down now. Ravens get the win, but they fall just short of the cover. Ravens 24, Seahawks 20
Houston Texans (-2.5) Over Tampa Bay Buccaneers
The Texans handed the Panthers their first win of the season last week and will be looking to get back into the win column themselves against Tampa Bay. CJ Stroud has had a very productive rookie campaign and will not be slowed down by the Buccaneers pass rush. The Bucs have a very good run defense, but the Texans potent passing attack has the chance to give them an early lead, which they won’t be in a hurry to relinquish. Texans 21, Buccaneers 17
New England Patriots (-3.5) Over Washington Commanders
The Commanders waved the white flag this week by trading their top two pass rushers, with minimal draft capital in return. While the Patriots are no longer the juggernaut they were over the last 2 decades, Bill Belichick will have had plenty of time to cook up a defensive scheme to expose the Commanders offensive line issues. Sam Howell will once again be left out to dry, as Washington limps across the finish line. Patriots 17, Commanders 10
Indianapolis Colts (-2.5) Over Carolina Panthers
The Panthers may have finally won a game, but they still have a long way to go before they can expect to string together back-to-back victories. The Colts haven’t batted an eye since losing Anthony Richardson to injury, with Gardner Minshew stepping up admirably in his place. Bryce Young hasn’t shown me enough to warrant a bet on him against a Colts team that still has realistic playoff aspirations. Colts 30, Panthers 14
Dallas Cowboys (+3) Over Philadelphia Eagles
In a battle between the top 2 teams in the NFC, I’ll happily take the free points with Dallas. In what should be a back-and-forth contest, the Cowboys have shown enough on defense throughout this season to reasonably expect them to limit Jalen Hurts and the Eagles offense. This one will go right down to the wire, but I expect Dallas to get a valuable road victory and put themselves within striking distance of the division lead. Cowboys 27, Eagles 24
New York Giants (+1.5) Over Las Vegas Raiders
The Raiders have elected to bench Jimmy Garoppolo in Week 9, and that won’t result in a win. Their issues go much deeper than the quarterback, and the Giants have proven their defense can stifle pretty much anyone in the league. Whoever is under center won’t have to do much to push the Giants over the edge, and in a punt-filled contest the Giants defense stands up when it matters most. Giants 15, Raiders 9
Buffalo Bills (+2) Over Cincinnati Bengals
The Bengals took down the 49ers in Week 8 and will be searching for their 4th straight win in Week 9. However, the Bills will be desperate to keep pace with the Dolphins atop the AFC East, and I expect Josh Allen to pull a rabbit out of the hat and get the win. Cincinnati appears to have turned the corner, but they will be forced to deal with a Week 9 setback on Sunday Night Football. Bills 31, Bengals 27
LA Chargers (-3) Over New York Jets
The Jets may have pulled out a win against the Giants in Week 8, but they will need to be much better on offense if they expect to hang around against the Chargers. Justin Herbert will not go down without a fight this season and understands a loss against the Jets would significantly dent their playoff hopes. After a tight first half, the Chargers pull away late. Chargers 27, Jets 17
