2025 Pittsburgh Steelers Season Win Total Picks

Think what you want about the Steelers. But bet against Mike Tomlin and his boys at your own risk.
Over the last 53 seasons, Pittsburgh has made the playoffs 34 times. Think about that for a second. The longest playoff drought that they have had over the last half-century was four years. And that happened back in the 1980’s.
The Steelers, fresh off their fourth postseason appearance in five years, have not had a losing season since 2003 and have finished below .500 just three times in the last 33 years.
That is an insane level of consistency and success.
Tomlin has been dragged for the fact that the Steelers haven’t won a postseason game since 2016 and have lost in the Wild Card Round in each of their past four playoff showings. The idea is that his old-school, defensive philosophy is out of step with the modern, high-scoring game.
I’m more impressed by the fact that the Steelers have beaten their Las Vegas season win total four of their last five attempts and that Pittsburgh is 9-2 against Vegas over the last 11 years. Tomlin has had to deal with one misfire after another at the quarterback position since Big Ben’s departure. Despite that, he has continued to win.
Every year the media is skeptical of Tomlin and the Steelers. And nearly every year Tomlin and the Steelers prove everyone wrong.

PITTSBURGH STEELERS 2025 OFFENSE
The Steelers haven’t fielded a Top 20 total offense since 2018, finishing at a high of No. 23 in total yards three times over that six-year span (including last year). They haven’t been in the Top 10 in scoring since 2018 as well, peaking at No. 12 in 2020.
Pittsburgh is hoping that washed-up Aaron Rodgers still has just a little bit left in the tank. They need the future Hall of Famer to elevate a passing offense ranked No. 27 last season and a red zone offense that has converted touchdowns at a rate below 50 percent each of the past two years.
The Steelers still have noted pud Arthur Smith employed as offensive coordinator. Smith, in six years as either an OC or a head coach, has fielded exactly one Top 10 offense. And his last four offenses have finished an average of No. 23 in total yards. I think Smith is awful.
The Steelers swapped out volatile wide receiver George Pickens for inconsistent D.K. Metcalf. They also added veteran tight end Jonnu Smith and rookie Kaleb Johnson in an attempt to goose the offense.
But it all comes back to the immobile Rodgers and a young, mediocre offensive line.
Good luck with that.
PITTSBURGH STEELERS 2025 DEFENSE
Last year the Steelers were the only team in the NFL to dedicate more than 50 percent of their salary cap to their defense. They were rewarded with a unit that finished in the Top 10 in points allowed for a third straight season and for the fifth time in the last six seasons.
Pittsburgh spent the offseason doubling down on their “defense first” mentality. They signed star rusher T.J. Watt to an expensive extension. They traded for corner Jalen Ramsey and signed corner Darius Slay and safety Juan Thornhill. And they used their first-round draft pick on defensive end Derrick Harmon.
The Steelers were +16 in turnover margin last season thanks to a league-leading 33 takeaways. That is now back-to-back seasons that Pittsburgh has finished +10 or better in turnover differential and that is a stat that is begging for regression.
Pittsburgh has also had a defensive yards per point of 16.0 or higher for three straight seasons. That is another number that I wouldn’t be surprised to see decrease.

PITTSBURGH STEELERS 2025 SEASON PICKS AND PREDICTIONS
Since 2000, the Steelers have only made the playoffs three straight years one time. (They made four straight trips from 2014-2017). After back-to-back years in the postseason, Pittsburgh will try to break through for a third consecutive season.
I know I’m not betting against it.
Look, you don’t bet against the streak. The Steelers haven’t had a losing season in 21 straight years. I’m not going to wager against proven winners.
It is not unbelievable to suggest that Pittsburgh could open the season 5-0, with games against the Jets, Patriots and Browns on the docket. Even if they are 4-1 and then lose at Cincinnati, the Steelers follow that with three of four home games. They also get the Bears, Dolphins and Browns on the schedule late in the season. Tomlin is always good for an upset or three, and he will take late-season shots against the Bills, Ravens (twice) and Lions.
I think the Steelers will start 4-2. They will pick up two more wins midseason. They will win at least two against the Bears, Fins and Browns. Then they will pull an upset in one of the four marquee games they play late in the year.
Pittsburgh might not have enough juice to make a third straight postseason trip. I do think they have enough to get to nine wins again, though, and I’ll play them ‘over’.
