NFL Office Pool Picks Week 9 - ATS Predictions for Every Game!

There is very little luck involved if you finish on top of your season-long NFL against the spread office pool, as a sample size of 272 regular season games will separate the contenders from the pretenders. Last week, we finished just under .500 with a 6-8 record, and I am eager to get back in the green for Week 9. There are only two teams on a bye this week, which gives us 15 matchups to pick. Let’s get into it.
Doc’s Sports offers NFL expert picks for every game on our NFL predictions page.
Jacksonville Jaguars (-9.5) Over Baltimore Ravens
This is potentially the most lopsided matchup possible in Week 9. Jacksonville is 5-2 this year with three of their wins coming by 24+ points, and this has all the makings of another blowout in their favor. Baltimore is down to their third-string quarterback on a short week, so even a loud home crowd will not be enough to keep this close. Jaguars 35, Ravens 10
Cincinnati Bengals (-3) Over Atlanta Falcons
One week the Falcons look like Super Bowl contenders, the next they are losing to a team that can’t complete a pass. The Bengals are far from the most consistent team in the league themselves, but a coherent offense is usually good for 25+ PPG, and that should be enough against Atlanta. The return of James Pearce will help keep this close for the Falcons, but the Bengals will win by a touchdown. Bengals 27, Falcons 20
Cleveland Browns (+3) Over New Orleans Saints
Deshaun Watson entering concussion protocol makes this matchup closer, but the Browns still have the edge with their superior defense. Shedeur Sanders will have had a full week of practice with first-team reps, and he will look more composed than his previous relief appearances. When the Browns defense shuts down Tyler Shough and the Saints, Sanders will do just enough to get them over the line. The field goal of insurance is just a bonus. Browns 17, Saints 13
Dallas Cowboys (-5.5) Over Indianapolis Colts
The Colts are aggressively selling their assets and are already looking ahead to next year. Meanwhile, the Cowboys are right in the mix in a dreadful NFC East playoff race, and will come out hungry after blowing the game against Arizona last week. Dallas’ offense is one of the best units in the league, and this is not the matchup where defensive mistakes will cost them a win and cover. Cowboys 31, Colts 12
Denver Broncos (-2.5) Over Carolina Panthers
The Broncos streak of winning close games will continue against the Panthers. Bo Nix and the Denver offense keep finding a way to overturn deficits in the fourth quarter, and this spread is not wide enough to deter us from laying the points. The Broncos and Panthers have similar offenses in terms of upside, but the Broncos defense is far and away superior. Even with this one going down in Carolina, Denver is the way to go. Broncos 24, Panthers 17
Detroit Lions (-6.5) Over Miami Dolphins
Miami has been more competitive in recent weeks, but it is not time to start buying in on them now. Two divisional games against the Jets and Patriots were solid showings, but a cross-conference game against one of the best offenses in football will be a different story. Detroit has been firing on all cylinders this year, and 19 points against the Vikings No. 1 defense was nothing to be ashamed of. The days are numbered for Malik Willis as the starter, and this has all the makings of a shootout where Willis does too much and gets burned. Lions 38, Dolphins 21
Washington Commanders (+4.5) Over Los Angeles Rams
The public will be all over Los Angeles with this short line, but we will take a stab with Washington and the points. The Commanders are still very much in the NFC East playoff race at 2-4-1, as their defense is starting to come alive. Injuries to their defensive line will limit their upside, but a home game against a West Coast team with an early start smells like a trap for the Rams. Los Angeles will probably pull through in a close one, but will fail to cover the spread. Rams 27, Commanders 24
Philadelphia Eagles (+3.5) Over New York Giants
This is a very ugly matchup, but one where the Eagles may actually find success. Philadelphia has been able to pull out wins with their backs against the wall before, and switching things up to Joe Milton at quarterback may be the change they need. New York has been far from impressive this year despite a winning record, and it is never a bad idea to take the points with the home team in a divisional matchup. The Eagles defense will keep things close, and I will go out on a limb and say Milton finds a way to lead a late scoring drive for a stunning upset. Eagles 13, Giants 10
Kansas City Chiefs (-10.5) Over New York Jets
The Jets promising start has been forgotten, and things aren’t getting easier against the Chiefs in Week 9. Kansas City threw the game away against the Broncos last week, and they will be sure to build a multi-score lead in this one to avoid a similar disaster. Once the Chiefs go up and the Jets are forced to abandon the run in the second half, this one has the potential to get ugly. Chiefs 28, Jets 11
Los Angeles Chargers (+4.5) Over Houston Texans
The Chargers aren’t playing for a playoff spot anymore, but there is still plenty on the line in Los Angeles. Job security, playing time, and future contracts will all be on the line against Houston, and there is still just enough talent left on this roster to keep things close. The Texans don’t have the playstyle needed to really pull away on the scoreboard, and Justin Herbert is due for some positive regression from his offensive line. The Texans win ugly, but the Chargers cover. Texans 20, Chargers 17
Arizona Cardinals (+8.5) Over Seattle Seahawks
The Cardinals were already going to be the pick this week before Drew Lock was inserted as the starter, and now it gets even sweeter. We lost a few points on the spread that was previously at +12.5, but that will not matter when the Seahawks can’t move the ball. Arizona is the type of team that never gives up and is always hunting for big upsets. These two offenses are much closer than the public would like to admit, and even though the Cardinals defense has allowed the most points in the league, they have actually been good at limiting the yardage. I won’t go as far as to call for an upset, but this one will be a real sweat for Seahawks fans in the fourth. Seahawks 27, Cardinals 21
New England Patriots (-3.5) Over Green Bay Packers
The Patriots still aren’t getting the respect they deserve, and this is a great spot to lay the points with an undervalued team against an overvalued Packers side. Drake Maye has been quietly playing solid football this year, the Patriots have a consistent secondary that is often overlooked, and an excellent head coach in Mike Vrabel. The Packers have some upside, but without a consistent run game and a hesitant Jordan Love, they will eventually fall behind. Patriots 20, Packers 15
San Francisco 49ers (-9.5) Over Las Vegas Raiders
The 49ers have been dealing with injuries all year, but have still managed to win games in dominant fashion. They are now coming off their bye and have had two weeks to think about their loss to the Falcons, and the Raiders are coming to town at the wrong time. Las Vegas snapped their losing streak with a win against the Jets last week, but this is a much tougher matchup at every position on the field. San Francisco has been ruthless with piling on the points against bad teams in the past, and the Raiders firmly fall into that category. 49ers 38, Raiders 17
Tampa Bay Buccaneers (+6.5) Over Chicago Bears
The Bears are sitting on top of many power rankings heading into Week 9, but they now come up against one of the few teams that can run the ball as well as they can. Tampa Bay will look to bleed the clock to keep Caleb Williams and company off the field, and they have an excellent track record of doing exactly that. Baker Mayfield will be eager to get involved after completing no passes last week, and this matchup is much closer than the spread suggests. Bears 21, Buccaneers 20
Buffalo Bills (-3.5) Over Minnesota Vikings
The Vikings have the league’s best defense, making it feel strange to lay a point against them with the Bills on the road. However, the Bills have an equally good offense that will inevitably find success, but the same can’t be said for the Minnesota Vikings. The Bills have averaged 33.3 PPG this year, so even with a tough defensive matchup, they will still be in the high 20s. Can we say the same for the Vikings offense who has averaged 16.2 PPG across the last six weeks? Bills 29, Vikings 18
