College Football Handicapping: Top 25 Surprises

The Associated Press has put out their preseason Top 25, making Florida No. 1 by the widest margin ever. Trying to determine where teams are at at this point in the year is a thankless, virtually impossible task, but that doesn't make it any less fun to do. Instead of trying to create a Top 25 of my own I'd rather just pick apart the AP version. Here's a quick look at the issues I have with the preseason list:

A college football team needs to have a whole lot of talent and even more luck if they want to be a serious contender. They also need to have a friendly schedule. An easy schedule can make an average team look good and a tough schedule could make that same team look terrible. The strength of schedule is also very important for handicappers. As we get ready for another college football season, here's a look at four teams that are facing fairly brutal schedules this year.
